Really Cool Ventura you built there, Jimmy! I've always been a huge fan of those cars. My best friend has a 1:1 '76 Skylark. I always try to buy it from him but he loves it as much as I do. Maybe one day... hehe Perfect color for that car too! Welcome aboard!

I've done them before by filling them in with elmer's glue and it worked very well. Just fill all the slots in, paint it and then pick the glue out of the slots. Liquid mask would probably work as well. The car looks GREAT!! Outstanding job, sir!

Here's some pics of one that somebody else has built: http://modelcarclubofminnesota.com/Gallery/album22 The only other pics I can find are black and white.

Wow! Man that picture brings back memories! I went to UTI in Carol Stream and my room-mates and I used to go to Sycamore speedway like every weekend! Spectators FTW! Project looks very interesting. I never really payed attention to BMW's until I got a job working on them for 6 years at the dealership. They really are awesome cars! I had a few E30's and they were a pleasure to drive... and pretty indestructible too.

What's a good source for....

There are a couple of cobras in this set: http://stores.scaledreams.com/-strse-317/1985-dsh-1999-Ford-Mustang-detail/Detail.bok Not sure how big they are though. -
That is a weird color combo. I used to have an 88 turbocoupe that was red with blue interior. I always thought that was a little strange. Anyways, VERY nice work! The car turned out great!!

Really nice work! I love the color combo. I kinda like that better than the new camaro, especially the tail light panel.

I'm glad you asked this. I have a Delorean on the back burner as well and was wondering the same thing.

Hmmm... Are you talking about the one that Frank (Slickpaint) did? If so, I was looking for that one myself. Seems to have disappeared...
-
Wow!! I don't even know what to say besides that looks AWESOME! I wish I could put together something like that!

This guy has resin neon bodies near the bottom of the page: No pics of it though... http://www.freewebs.com/rmrresin/nf125.htm Might as well get a promo one if ya can for that price.

Hard to find pics of real ones assembled, but hope this helps... http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com/RandM/images/theoriginal.jpg http://media.photobucket.com/image/wire%20looms%20billet/bmealer/1997%20Trans%20Am/IMAGE_034.jpg

Oh Great... Thanks a lot. Now the one I'm building looks like a total POS! That thing is looking AWESOME!!! I was very impressed by the plastic as well. If you want the car to be white, you don't even need to paint it!
-
The best thing to do would be to try it out. Pick yourself up a pack of plastic spoons and paint one just like you would paint the model. If it turns out ok, then you should be fine.
-
WOW!! Great job, Alex!! Keep up the awesome work and never give up on building! The way you're cranking out those beautiful models, you are definitely gonna be a force to be reckoned with, that's for sure!
-
Very, Very, VERY NICE work!!! Those turned out great! I love stuff like this. I like the ones that have my name on them too.. hehe
-
White glue would be the better choice as it doesn't eat into the plastic. I use Pacer formula 560 canopy glue for clear parts and it works awesome. I know a lot of others here like it too for this purpose.
-
That turned out absolutely beautiful!! The paint looks awesome ...and so does the rest of the car!
-
That is looking AWESOME so far!!! Can't wait to see the finished product!
-
LOL nope I wasn't adopted... I do agree with you about the "building process"!
-
71-73, I think. That turned out REALLY nice, Harold! I used to work in a body shop edging parts when I was in high school and I always loved that color.
-
Wow! What a beautiful baby! Congratulations!! My girlfriend and I put one of those kits together a little over 2 years ago. We built the female version though... Sure is an awesome feeling, isn't it? BTW.... Are you my long lost brother?

Your Very First Real Car
Wayne Buck replied to FujimiLover's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
'84 Trans Am 5 speed with the 5 liter h.o. that my uncle rescued from the junkyard when I was 16. He was going to fix it up but I needed a car and he needed it like a hole in the head so I bought it from him for $600. It had kissed either a telephone pole or a tree by the looks of it. Someone had the rear brake line crimped because one of the hoses was leaking in the back! LOL I wonder if that had anything to do with what happened to it! It had every option except a rear window defroster. Took me about 6 months on weekends to fix it and paint the front half of the car. I can't find any pics at the moment when I first finished it, but here it is about 3 years, 3 ring and pinions, 2 engines and 2 t5 rebuilds later. I built a 350 for it after I graduated tech school and eventually put a th350 in it. I had a 75 and then a 150 shot in it which made it pretty fun but filling the bottle all of the time got rather old. Sadly, it sits in my yard now with no engine (sold it because someone offered me $$$ that I couldn't refuse) and the "rare" dana44 I just recently found, wound up in my brother's 90 Camaro... oh well Sorry for the crappy pics. My scanner broke so I took pictures of the pictures.
