  1. I got that same robart paint shaker at a flea market this past summer for a couple of bucks. Man, I LOVE that thing!
  2. Thanks Jim, Yeah those are too big, but I'm almost positive they make smaller ones. I used to mess with r/c cars a lot when I was a kid.
  3. Not sure how big the ones in the link are, but I know I've seen some really small ones before that would be perfect. You could probably get them a lot cheaper. I just figured I could find them on tower's site quickly for an example. I would think any decent hobby shop should have an assortment of them.
  4. Instead of carving the ball, I think one of those ball-ends from an r/c car would be perfect. example: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXM472&P=7
  5. LOL Reminds me of the part in "Gone in 60 Seconds" towards the end when he's being chased in the mustang. It shows a camera shot of the tach that's up to 8 or 9 grand, I forget. But then he hits the nitrous and the car mysteriously goes like 40mph faster!
  6. After I graduated high school, I had an 84 Trans Am (still have it actually) that I built a somewhat hopped up 350 for. I'd say it was making somewhere around 375hp. It used to run neck and neck with my friend's Buick skylark that ran 12.90 @ 106. Anyway, at the time, it had 373's in the rear with the factory T5 trans and stock tire size (not sure what it was, 205 65 r15 maybe?) and I had it up to about 5,600 rpm in 5th gear. I figure I had to be going 135+. Hard to tell with the 85mph speedo. I wanted to try and redline the tach, but the car started to feel rather "floaty" and I decided to keep my life while I still could... I never have and never will do that again! Funny, the things you'll do when you're young and "not so smart"
  7. I looked at a few different sites that offer this kit and they all say it "includes a painted and finished engine", so I'm coming to the conclusion that the engine probably would not be in the assembly instructions. Me thinks you got robbed...
  8. Man, that thing looks sweet!! That is an awesome color combo! I LOVE the way those dusters look slammed to the ground and tubbed. One of my old teachers when I went away to school in Illinois was building a 1:1 just like that. I never got to see it finished so this helps me picture how it turned out. Thanks! Is that the revell olds pro-stock chassis? I may have to build one of these myself some day. I know I have the body floating around somewhere...
  9. Some really neat kits there! this one would be great for the post-apocalypse build http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/132580227
  10. OH WAIT!! nevermind, I just remembered what the hood looks like on that car.... doh! A cowl on top of that would probably look pretty stupid. sorry
  11. ...and here's a 6 inch one I just dug outta my parts box: If you re-route the intake pipe a bit, I think it should fit under there.
  12. How about making a cowl hood for it? Comp resins has cowls that you can attach to the hood. I believe they have 6" scale and 9" scale ones. Here's the 9" one I'm using on one of my builds:
  13. WOW that looks great!! Thanks for the tip. I was contemplating a 69 Camaro w/ a vinyl top but had no idea how to make one that looks accurate. Yours looks perfect!
  14. Funny, I was kinda thinking something along those lines, but mix a small amount of toothpaste in with the water. That finish looks a lot like my bathroom sink if I don't clean it for a while.
  15. Maybe get it close with a thin cut-off wheel on a dremel (slowly and carefully as not to heat it up much) and finish it with sandpaper? You wouldn't have to put any pressure on it that way. dunno, just a thought...
  16. Go to the home page http://www.modelcarsmag.com/ and it's in the menu on the left. Took me a while to find it myself. I kept looking all over the forum.
  17. All the girls in school used to call one of my old friends "gonzo". Poor guy had a horribly crooked....um.......... nevermind. Thanks for the idea, Jody, I'll have to try that. I always end up making a mess when decanting paint.
  18. Man, that thing is so freakin' cool, I can't stand it! That is definitely something to be very proud of!
  19. I agree they are VERY nice distributors. I used one recently for the first time.
  20. That is looking AWESOME so far! To be honest, I really didn't care much for the new Camaro when it came out but they're really starting to grow on me. Can't wait to see the finished product!
  21. Thanks for the heads up. I was looking at that one. Funny how it shows a GIANT picture of the engine on the box...
  22. That looks GREAT!! Love the color on it!
  23. WOW!!! THAT is AMAZING!! Looks like a real car!
  24. That looks GREAT!! Awesome job! I love the color combo.
