  1. My personal favorite is from a suggestion by my good friend Bill Geary. He told me to go out to Pep Boys and buy some good quality chamois, haven't seen a better system to polish and wax than this one. I like to use the Maguiar's cleaner wax after using my polishing cloths. Just put a small dab on your finger, rub it in a circular motion and take it off with the chamois. Try this and you will never go back to flannel or anything else, at least in my humble opinion..... I use to have pretty good results before using the flannels but couldn't get away from the minor scratches left behind.
  2. You see guys, after a reply like this I know you will be listening to me more often!!!! Just call me "Big Papi"!!!!
  3. I just tried posting a picture and the message that I get or have been getting for the last couple of months is that the album is over the size limit if 1GB. Not only that but it is the slowest site I have ever been in. Also, when downloading pictures from the computer to photobucket it just takes too long, I just got tired of that.....

    `70 AAR Cuda

You made an incorrect kit look, well, correct!! Too bad Revell messed these kits up with those awful lines but no doubt you did a terrific job....
  5. Side rear view mirror or not this thing is awesome my friend, nice and clean the way I like them!!! Color choice is phenomenal!!!!
  6. I think Soft Scrub is your best bet. What I like the most about it is its abrasive properties!
  7. Looks cool in that color too, nice job...
  8. I thought he was crying about Michael Jackson...
  9. I thought photobucket was free until you ran out of space?? That's what happened w/ my account! I am happier w/ Fotki now anyway.....
  10. Very cool man, one of my favorite kits. I just wish I could see more stuff posted from the guys in Puerto Rico, definitely a lot of talent there!!

And here I thought they would be too hot, can't believe you just shot that on bare plastic!! Looks great, I will be trying them out since I have noticed the cool variety of colors they offer!

    1971 Duster

I have been meaning to buy those RC paints, what do you thin them with? I have always been afraid of using them for the fear of how hot they might be. Do you use any sealer on your body or primer before shooting these? I love the fact that the metallics in it look to scale also....

Love it man, also love the fact that you used the same Dupli-color shade that I used for my 1960 Starliner, looks perfect on this car!!
  14. Cool Tom, can't wait to see what you have stored for that '57.....
  15. Like Brian says my young friend, try to be a little more specific, I am sure that you will get all the help you need and more in the forum. Check out all the posts that the guys have put up, that should be able to help you before you even start asking. Welcome, it is always nice to hear about young people such as yourself getting into the hobby, you will find it to be a lot more fun than video games I assure you.....
  16. Wow Scott, thanks for the site, added it to my favorites. I will definitely consider adding those cooling lines, you are correct about how hot these engines run, they sure are little power plants!! Love that little blue engine you have there, your pulleys look amazing. I just bought some resin pulleys from Norm at Replicas and Miniatures, they will go perfect w/ this engine of mine! Marc, I have already worked around my chassis and tunnel, I just don't have the pictures yet. Once I finish working with the motor mount up front I will add more photos, it's all coming together slowly but surely specially now that I have so much info and advice from you guys. Really appreciate your help here guys!!!!
  17. I love these forums and even though sometimes we fall into some meaningless bickering here and there I wouldn't change them for the world. I also belong to another forum in Puerto Rico (scalebuilder.com) and some of the guys have taken a little bit of time to advice me on how to work around this engine. I do have some knowledge of the Rotary engine but not enough to feel comfortable when it comes time to adding detail to a few things here and there. There are a lot of guys in P.R. who are very knowledgeable when it comes to this engine and they are also good friends of mine. They saw a few things that I am doing wrong and jumped in to help me, for that I am very grateful and even though I don't have the skills of a Bill Geary, I do want to make this engine as correct as possible. One of the things they noticed is a small detail I missed on the intake manifold. They tell me it needs and extra section in the middle, the next couple of pictures will guide you better than what I am able to explain. I had to do a bit of scratchbuilding to accomplish this, nothing major... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Like I said, it's nothing major but when you are doing something as close as possible to the real thing, it's important. They also told me about the way this engine is suppose to be supported to the chassis. I was doing it all wrong and didn't even noticed I had the answer right under my nose, all I had to do was look at the instructions from another RX7 kit and that was it. This step will also help push the engine more towards the rear, it was a little too far to the front. Hosted on Fotki This is a picture of a 1/1 Rotary engine and its front support, as you can see by the pictures, I was kinda wrong! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki This is the correct way. Later on I will show the engine mounted on the chassis and hopefully it will look more correct.
  18. Cool weathering on the chassis!!!
  19. I bet you were sent to your room after this comment!! It was funny though!!! Randy, you have to learn how to punish your kid more often!!
  20. Hosted on Fotki This was my favorite model at the meeting, Randy Kern did a terrific job on this Modelhaus resin kit!!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Lyle Willits' beautiful old style drag racer, Revell's new '57 Chevy kit!! Love that side decal!!! Hosted on Fotki This is just me begging Norm for a few free resin parts, needless to say, I didn't succeed... But he is the best resin caster in the business so I won't loose out in buying his precious resin work.... 21. I love Floquil paints also, my favorite is their primer, it goes on smoother than any primer I have ever seen. About the scale color, I don't think there is such a thing unless you are talking about the size of the flakes in metallic paints. Bright or dark, if you use the right color on any model it will look great. You also have to remember that the orange peel that is formed after painting will always be out of scale on a 1/25 scale kit or smaller, it is always important to rub out the finish to be able to get a more realistic look. The use of an airbrush reduces the chances of getting orange peel but the model still has to be wet-sanded nevertheless. What I have noticed is that it is also important to darken your panel lines. I have seen a lot of great paint jobs out there but I have also seen panel lines full of paint giving the model a very toyish appearance.
  22. I'm w/ Harry on this, it will be tedious w/ the Xacto blade but it will also be more accurate!!
  23. Hey, patent this thing and you will be swimming in money!!!!
  24. Like every work you do this is gonna look cool man!!! Good to see you here again.
  25. Thanks guys! Abe, just look back into the project and all your questions will be answered. It's an old Monogram kit.... Hosted on Fotki
