  1. You can also go to WalMart and purchase some Dawn Power Dissolver, this thing works great. I believe is about 2 dollars a bottle. Just dump the body in the dissolver and start out fresh with your paintjob!!! This thing is so good that the paint just melted off the body, you can actually still see the shape of the car, it was a 1960 Starliner body that I messed up and started over!!!
  2. You did great work bro, I will be following this one closely! The idea of the rims not being chrome is actually a good one, at least for me. I would much rather Alclad the rims than use BMF but again, that's me, you made it look very good. That color is also gorgeous, nice choice!!!
  3. Thanks Jay, believe me, this thing is very rough, pictures just don't show it. For the interior, I am going with Tamiya's Insignia White, in my opinion it's the perfect shade of white, Something similar to the interior color I used on my Starliner pictured below. Hosted on Fotki If you look closely, the white wall tires are more of a pure white and when you compare them in this photo to the interior color you can notice is quite different. By the way, the roof is pearl white. I also want to add that if you want your white walls to have a slight weary, older look to them you can also go with this Tamiya color, it looks pretty convincing!
  4. Sorry, Norm doesn't have a website but you can call him at this number for your orders, I am sure he will also supply you with his latest "must have" catalogue!!! (410-768-3648)
  5. (MODELCARS)mag.com forum, I think this pretty much sums it up......
  6. That's it man, just keep away from it.....
  7. Unless I divorce my wife, I would'nt either!!!!
  8. Now, this is how a review is done, w/ pictures and all!!! Thanks Randy, this definitely made me decide to get this kit, lots of possibilities to do something special with it!!! Next step is seeing you build one.
  9. Hey Kevin, I recently started incorporating pastels in my builds, I am still learning how to use them but I am happy with the little bit of success I have had with them. I went to Michael's and bought this set, if I recall, I paid about 14 dollars for it. The first time I used them was in the interior of this Miata that I completed close to 2 years ago. If you notice, one of the seats in the picture is done with pastels and also one of the door panels! Here is the completed interior!! I also did a bit of weathering on my '60 Ford Starliner's engine bay and chassis!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki What I do is rub some of the chalk on a piece of sandpaper and use an old brush or one of those eyeliners women use to put on their makeup to spread it on the part. What I suggest you do is, if you have any spare parts like seats or anything similar, paint them in the color of your choice and start practicing and getting a feel for them, soon you will be getting more and better ideas on how to use them. It's just one more tool in your arsenal to take your modeling to the next level. Hope this helps my friend, I think you will have a lot of fun playing around with this!!!!
  10. Looks good Greg, try taking some pictures without the cluttered background, they will look a lot better and everyone will focus more on your build!!!
  11. This is awesome John, beautiful work!!!
  12. Mikey, good to hear from you, yours came out gorgeous man, thanks for posting it. Love the cragars on it!!!! Now you know why I decided to put this one together!!
  13. Awesome man, color is beautiful!!! I would give you the trophy right now, no need to finish it....
  14. I will have to get back to you on that color.....
  15. I rarely paint my cars way before I start putting them together but since I will not be doing so much test fitting I will not worry too much, there will not be a lot of scratch building on this project anyway. I will also leave the wetsanding, polishing and waxing for the end, this way I will not worry about handling the painted body during the building process. The paint looks good in these pictures but believe me, there is a lot of wetsanding ahead of me to really make it stand out. Hope you guys like it!!! 16. Finally decided on something. I have always loved those '66 Goats and must have one in my stable!! I am using the Revell kit for this! Hosted on Fotki I am going for something like this but the color I chose from dupli-color came out a bit brighter than this. I still like it so I will leave it as is!!! Hosted on Fotki I am going factory stock so I am happy to own the best redlines ever made for this type of car in that era. Of course, I am talking about the ones Norm does, who else??? Thanks again Norm!!! They are phenomenal!!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

I'm a big Mopar fan and love these Dusters, you did a terrific job!!!
  19. This is a "I vote for you and you vote for me" moment at the Super September Showdown last month. Needless to say, he beat me at my own game!!! At least I got something better than an autograph, a picture with one of the greats in our hobby!!! Hosted on Fotki
  20. What???? You never met Billy Stillwagon??? That's the guy signing autographs at the shows, that's how good he is!!! I am happy and proud to call him a friend, a club member and one of the coolest guys you will ever meet!!!!
  21. Thanks Kevin, it's always nice to know that I can help someone out the same way I was helped when I started in this hobby. I decided that I will auction the blue Willys next month in our club's November auction. I belong to 2 of the best clubs in the nation and I am very happy to always put a little effort to keep them going. Thanks again for your purchases, I will start working on that other model we talked about some time next week....
  22. As usual, I had a lot of fun sharing with my friends at our monthly meeting! We had a Chopper theme going and there were a lot of cool ones in display. Congratulations to my boy Rick Forrester for his 1st place win, his Chopper was really gorgeous!!! Hosted on Fotki As I said, this was really a cool piece by Rick, lots of attention to detail and very clean!!!! 23. I have never had any issues with humidity here in Maryland but I never take any chances either. What I do is go to Wal-Mart or Home Depot and get me some Damp Rid, it absorbs humidity in the air. I don't like to explain much, that's the reason I invested in a digital camera and computer, the pictures will say it all! What I do is open one at least 3 hours before painting and I am ready to go!!! 24. Crafts stores like Michael's and others carry it!!
  25. Yes Jim, it does but you can primer and put any other color you want, that's also the beauty of this system. If I recall, the other colors are gold, green, gray, black, blue and I think 3 o 4 more colors, they are soft, not loud colors.
