  1. Testors is the one with the metal flake,,but I didn't know Dupli-Color had a Hemi Orange. Thanks! --- Mike
  2. For some reason the MM Hemi Orange has metal flake in it. I've checked out the 1:1 Challenger and cant see any flake in it. Does anyone know the orange/red ratio to mix your own?
  3. Hey, I ask at least 1 stupid question per day, it's all part of the learning process, and as you might have figured out by now, these are the guys you can learn from, ask 'stupid' questions and not feel like they're looking down on ya.
  4. Hey...credit where credit is due. I also don't mind paying extra for quality. April is going to press soon, Feb/March is done and shipped?
  5. I colored the wire with a sharpie..but stripping then coloring..never thought of that..I'll give it a try. I'll also order a set of MCG looms, see how that works out for me. Thanks Steve!
  6. My DM distributor wire ran out, so I broke out my RS alternative. Does anyone else using this combination find that the wires don't quite fit through the looms without some delicate coaxing? I spent way too much time widening the loom holes so they would accept the wire.So much so that it really isn't worth using the looms. I may just go back to DM wire, unless someone has any suggestions.
  7. I contacted R2 a few months ago asking them if they're planning on releasing any of the old Pro stock kits.Told'em they're be great sellers, and the person who replied agreed. I was told there's a pretty good chance of them re-releasing the old MPC Pro Stock kits in 2012, along with other AMT material. and yes! That's a very nice Blue Max build!
  8. ..came in the mail today. January 2011 (duh) and I have to say..great magazine! For the last few years I was adamant that I wasn't going to pay $65 for a mag subscription. Then last month, while at my LHS, I saw an issue behind the counter and asked Graham if i could check it out. Very nice. 2 of the things that sold me on it was that the Annuals issue comes with the subscription, not an extra cost like SA. He also said it was a very unbiased group of volunteers that work on this thing. Well, it's worth the $65 bucks, Gregg. Question, on the Whats Inside ..page/Coming next Time, the Annual Contest issue,(which I assume is the Feb/March issue), has this gone out yet? Again, Gregg..you and your crew have a great magazine going, I only regret not subscribing 2 years ago! --- Mike
  9. I meant allow people to sell other hobby related stuff on eModelcars.com, but, hey..you're right..there it is! hehe I usually don't go past the Drag Racing Models forum
  10. I know were all about models here..but from a business perspective, maybe inviting other hobbies such as the railroad guys to post. I hear that stuff is big business. Armor, even.
  11. If his cost is low at the moment, maybe he should hang on, he may eventually get a boom in business what with eBay taking a percentage of shipping cost.
  12. Yes, it does fit..and honestly..i think you can get away with charging fee's. As long as it's reasonable and you don't have an eBay 'take the little guy for what we can' attitude, I cant see anyone bitching and screaming "I'm going to do my business on eBay!"
  13. What they don't seem to realize is that they aren't the only game in town like they were back in the day...there's competition out there now..rather than increasing fee's to make more $$$, maybe they ought to ease up on them, to attract more sellers. I know I wont be selling my kits there.
  14. Wow..that's nuts....we obviously aren't the only to agree...222 pages make up that thread!
  15. I used to buy from eBay all the time. Spent a lot of cash buying kits when I got back into it a few years ago. I stopped because most of the kits that interested me would only ship within the US, and the mint some people wanted for shipping. From time to time, I would purchase something with a high shipping cost because the item was only a few bucks. It was easy to see what they were doing, offering the item dirt cheap and making the difference up on shipping, which I was cool with. Charging $45 to ship an opened, $15 dollar kit though..nah, I'll do without. I was also considering selling a large portion of my ahem collection there as well but from what I've been hearing lately, is that they're no longer Seller friendly. I'll have to check out other options. I might even throw up a web site and list what I have, and ship via Fed Ex which is cheaper than using the post office. I traded kits with someone I bought from on eBay a few years back..Fed Ex charged me 30 something dollar to ship 15 boxed kits to Kentucky...post office would have charged more than $100
  16. This was a Canadian store..the Airbrushes and accessories ship from the manufacturers warehouse
  17. Just to show you how some mail order businesses like to ream us on shipping charges, I purchased a Paasche H airbrush with a #5 head online last Saturday, cost me $27.00 for the brush, and $22 for shipping...not bad considering it was delivered yesterday. Now, I didn't realize that Paasche AB's weren't compatible with Badger air hoses, so I went back to the site to order an adapter. A $3 adapter, the cart notified me that shipping would cost $48!! Wow! $180 if i wanted it faster than 5-8 business days. I contacted them and asked if this was correct..couldn't be right, considering the AB's shipping cost was $22 bucks. I was told that it is indeed correct and that "Based on several invoices that we received from Paasche warehouse on shipping our orders to Canada we had to increase the shipping charge to Canada.". OK...Whatever that means. So I logged on to eBay, found the same adapter for $4.49 , with shipping costing me a whopping $7.97!! Delivery is roughly the same. ######...all I need is the part, I don't need it delivered in a gold lined box! Whats with these people, you'd think they have their own courier service! Ok..I just wanted to share..and vent a little. Has anyone else here ever been expected to pay crazy delivery fees? Getting my purchase quick is nice..but if it means paying 10x the price of what I ordered to have it shipped..I can wait a while on delivery. Ok...done... Thank you!
  18. Thanks guys, I'll keep'em in the fridge.
  19. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't use it very much..but when I do come to use it...it's dried solid. The cap is on tight as far as I can tell. Is there any way to preserve or extend it's life?
  20. I really like this build..I check it out once a day. Beautiful. I'd like to build one of my own. I have a few of the Johan/Testors S&M/Street Machine kits, I suppose these can be used as the starting for this build?
  21. I only got back into the hobby 4-5 years ago, and have close to 3000 kits in my collection. I couldnt stop buying them for a good 3 years. Seeing I was out for so long, i bought every one that interested me,( which was...every damned kit on the shelf) from Hobby Depot and eBay, as well as a few sellers I came across while searching the net for MPC's 1/20 scale Saber Vette. If the kit I chose to buy that day was a 2 or 3 in 1..you can bet I bought 1 or 2 more just in case I wanted to build the options. I was pretty sure I was done buying kits , then R2 announced they'd be releasing alot of old AMT/MPC kits, now, I'm spending cash on those! Bought 6 copies of the 66 PS Nova the day it came out! And I'm not done with them! I contacted them and asked if they plan on releasing any of the old MPC Pro Stock kits and yes, those are probably coming out next year. My best friend gives me ###### all the time, last week he saw me come home with 12 of Lindbergs Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee kit. Hell, i couldnt pass it up, $10 per kit. Could you!? Also, I decided to box up a few hundred kits, and sell'em, we all know I'm not gonna build'em in this lifetime....but I cant bring myself to place the ad! Well, it could be alot worse, this could be the 80's/90's, and I could be spending my money at the local Metal bar every night! \m/ Now, I'm gonna check out what Dennis has over at Model Express! --- Mike and Yes..I do build the occasional model!
  22. Thanks for the tutorial and heads-up on Yahoo! Groups..I came across a hell of a lot of really great groups! --- Mike
  23. As someone stated , "You can make anything you want for yourself without fear of reprisal from the powers that be" You knew that, I'm sure. I was referring to the means to the end that an article like I suggested might encourage. As in, software piracy
  24. I never thought about it from that perspective. I guess there wouldn't only be the issue of artwork piracy, but software piracy..who would spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on Illustrator or Photoshop when they could download it for instance. You're right! --- Mike
