Very cool looking machine. I would use some steel wheels with more lip on them. Or some aluminium type wheels, but more lip still. The colour combo looks really good on that body.

Mmmmmm I like it a lot! How smoothly the roof sat on the body, couldnt have quessed. Keep on the good work!

Buick Electra STW 1986 ready to "Under Glass"

Today my Buickster got plenty of chrome trims around her body. I think this is more like the Electra now. Still missing windows, head and rear lights and the engine too. -

Does this look like a woody wagon to you? I will put the chrome trim around the wood area and maybe clear lacque (or coating?) -
This is my disturbed version of the mighty 'Cuda. I only had the body left of this kit, so I took the chassis from Audi R8. The V8 engine is also from that same Audi, only it's mounted backwords in the engine bay. The body of 'Cuda is atleast 10 mm wider now and the vents in the doors are open for cool air to the rear brakes. I built this quite fast, only the painting took some extra effort, I took it off three times before I could be happy with it.

Buick Electra STW 1986 ready to "Under Glass"

Something like this. Those side pontons are not exactly like the real ones are shaped, but I think they will do. I also got a set of tires, that are slightly smaller in diagramm. These fit much better to the wheel openings or fenders or what they are called. -

Thank you very much! I thought about that hood for a minute, then decided to use this one. I think it wouldnt be too difficult to scratch build a flat hood, but I kinda like this one. Oh boy there's still some much to do with this one. Now I'm working with the cargo compartment. -

Enough with sanding, sprayed some primer and then some metallic blue. The original plan was to paint this model as my 1:1 Buick was, but then I decided to use this colour. I will try to paint the woody sides, but that is not easy. -

Thank you! Today I painted the dash. The Molotow liguid chrome is good stuff. I didnt even try to put the chrome with the Molotow pen, instead used a small brush dipped into a little pond of that liquid from a refill bottle. The body of my Buick got some silver paint too, but seems like it still has some wrinkles here and there, that I'm gonna try to fix. This dark blue is the color of the seats. They need more paint, but on the other hand now they look like the sun has faded the fabric, eh? -

Thanks! Now the Buickster got a nose job. The GNX nose is quite different and it bothered me so I cut it off and here is what I did. Also the dash is getting ready for painting. -

I think the tires are too big. It's hard to get them fit to the wheel wells. I also made the rear side windows little longer by narrowing the D-post. Next some primer paint. -

Yes thank you for these photos. The thing is, I can find similar photos too, but the main thing I was looking for, is the roof rack and its position. No photos from straight above of the car, thats really what I was trying to find. From there it could have been easier to put the rack in place. Now its done, sort of. But thanks for the interest, these big wagons are just wonderful. Maybe some day I'll try to make one older wagon with the clamshell tail gate. If nobody gets there first! -

Thanks! So I made the hood 5mm wider and now I'm thinking if I would leave the GNX hump on the hood as it is. It would give this lazy azz wagon some sporty touch. Made the front bumper too. I managed to measure the ends of the bumper too short, so some extra evergreen stuff is needed to them. The rear passanger doors got some narrow pieces to the upper corner. I also made 4 Buick turbine look alike wheels. -
That's one serious gage! Looking closely this one.

Thanks again! Here is the roof rack. I'm afraid it became a little bit too wide, but its hard to find photos from the internet, which would show excact measurements and locations of the rack. Would help a lot, if I could locate a GM wagon near by where I live. A few years ago hundreds and thousends of GM and Ford wagons were bought and brought here in Finland, and the rear seats were swapped off so the cars could be registered as light commercial wagons with less taxes to be paid to the government. After some years most of them are gone, just no value and interest. Only the finest survivors are taken care of and driven to USA car meetings etc. in the summer time. So it's not easy to find one now when needed to help in this model project. But I will build this model as well as I can. -

Thanks! My daily driver Buick had those fancy aluminium turbine wheels, so I will try to make them to this model too. The rear bumper is almost ready to get chrome coat, I will use the Molotow liguid for that. Just realized that the hood has to be made wider too. Also I have to figure out, how to make tidy thin white walls to the tires. The last photo is found from the internet, and it is taken many years after I drove that same Buick. Kinda sad to see its been parted out, but honestly the 307 cid engine in it wasnt that crisp, maybe thats why its sitting at the junk yard. Also the TH200 showed some funny functions... -

Well I have never been good at building anything box stock. I had many photos of that 1:1 Buick, but lost them with the broken pc. I found one pic from the net of that same car, but it's been taken to a junk yard. Still had the plates on though. Metallic gray on the top, metallic red on the sides. Thats the way this model will be painted too. -
Hello! This is one of the models I have been dreaming to build ever since I had to sell my 1:1 Buick. I havent found any model kit of a 80's GM STW, so I'm gonna make it my self. I started by cutting in half a Buick GNX body, cut the rear off and then it's just cutting evergreen sheets and adding putty and filing and sanding as all of you modellers know. It's a long way until it's ready for paint but I'm getting there. The frame is taken from '76 Chevy Caprice, I think it's close enough for this project. To be continued...
-
Very cool looking machine indeed! I havent seen the 1:1 car that is used as inspiration for this model, but maybe the trims around the body could have been taken away? Now everything is painted over if you know what I mean. No big deal, its a real mean machine.
-
Could be the coolest Camaro model I've ever seen. Just perfect.
-
Thanks everybody. As for the picture of the bottom side... oh well nothing special there, just the the minimum. The radiator ls there also.
-
Thanks! This was just an ordinary Fujimi model Mini, and yes I made those wide fenders. The original hood/ bonnet got lost after I had cut it open, so I had to make a new one from Evergreen sheet.
-
Here is another Mini with a little bit different engine bay. I snitched a V6 from a Ford Sierra XR4 and shovelled it into this tiny Mini. It needed some boost, so a big turbo charger with the intercooler was added in too. My Mini is rear wheel drive, the axle is from Toyota Hilux pickup. The doors are a bit longer than original, no real reason for that, I just wanted to do so. I added some Summit stickers on the body, as you probably have noticed. The plain green paint looked dull to me, so I figured this Mini could be a Summit promo vehicle. And they are stickers, not decals, and quite tricky to get them to settle to the body. Maybe a little heat could have helped, but I did not try that. As always, comments are welcome, thank you.

Well what do you think about this one? I wanted to build a rat rod, but it ended up a litlle different. The engine is supposed to look like one used in a Sherman tank in WW2 built by Ford with four over head cams. I took some V8 engine block and made it wider. Then some scratch built valve covers, intake manifold etc. I planted a blower boosted by a turbo charger too. Remember, this is built just fot fun, no need to look like it could really work in 1:1 world. The chassis is dropped closer to the ground and the rear axle is something I found from my scrap box. The head and tail lights are made by me. The green paint turned out too shiny, so I sanded it to matte. And now some photos. Thanks for watching!
