  1. Honestly? Any of those will work. All are respectable Choices. Single action is easier but double action is more versatile (and not that hard to learn on). What are you painting? Mostly bodies - single action will do. Details? Double action. Trying to get it narrowed down to brand is pointless as everybody likes this or that. Really, most ABs will do the job if you learn how to use it properly.
  2. And finally... You still have the option of removing the entire roof: So, not bad. I was not a van fan in my earlier building so I never purchased any variants of this kit, but one thing I noticed is there are no door panels for the interior. Interesting, but par for the era, I guess.
  3. Continuing... Custom Parts: Steel wheels, seats (were people really that skinny back in the 70s? Man, the Gremlin seats are narrow too): SBC? Auto transmission: Frame (both frame and interior are very flat, no warp at all on mine):
  4. The White Elephant in Spokane just got their shipment of Round2 kits today - I was there for the unveiling and picked up Dirty Donny's Van. Pics, sprue by sprue. Body - man, that plastic is thin where the sunroof cutout is - looks good though - not a lot of clean up: Chrome - looks good - stock hub caps included: Parts:
  5. They are deeper than stock - I like them that way, but looking at pictures of the real deal, yes, they are too deep.
  6. Warp? Yes. Bad warp? No. It will be easy to overcome. I had heard about the problem so I looked closely at mine and this is what I found. I probably wouldn't have mentioned it had it not been brought up previously. The rest of the kit looks great. There is some excess chrome in the stock wheels that will result in stripping and application of Alclad II, but otherwise looks great.
  7. Chassis warp - sounds like this will be present in a lot of the kits? Here is a photo: It is on a completely flat ceramic tile - you can see the frame rail on the passenger side is just about touching the tile - while on the driver's side, it is elevated a couple mm. Top of the frame at 12mm: Top on passenger side, 8mm: Not a huge deal for some, could be a pain for beginners or folks unfamiliar with the kit.
  8. Revell 1949 Mercury. Newest AMT 1962 Catalina (although mine were short shot).
  9. Probably right. No comparison with MH. I was more in the mindset of quality versus cost I guess - and looking at the last piece I purchased from R & R anything looks good.
  10. Jimmy Flintstone products are high quality. I have three of his bodies and all are nice. They have flash to clean and are a little thick in places but have little to no bubbles or major blemishes. You can buy his bodies just about anywhere, so delivery time is never an issue. Megahobby has some of his bodies for $9.95.
  11. That is unusual. Looking at the additional photos it appears visibility would be limited out the back and "blind spot" windows as well. I like the basic design, but I hate driving cars with impaired visibility. Concept car, though. Really, these aren't too wild for concepts and are tamer than, say, Nissan's current line up.
  12. I kinda like the long board better - coffin board looks too small. You really should quit thinking up cool ideas though. Also, what do you mean there's no surfing in hell?
  13. You can just mix the color in. I suppose after awhile you would need to replace it, but it's cheap. By the way, lacquer paint will melt silly putty - I found that out spraying Tamiya semi gloss black on a chassis.
  14. What about real stones? I have purchased bags of 3/8 stones (like pea gravel) for landscaping - some of them are nice, flat river type stones (crushed stone will not work). Check at home improvement places (Home Depot) and look in the garden section. Then use mosaic tile glue and mosaic grout. Finish like you would a tiling job or glass mosaic. I am going to check my garage and see if I still have some of the gravel around and I know I have a bag of mosaic grout.
  15. Fantastic John. There is a lot of hard work into this build and it turned out, well, fantastic. Fun to look at and inspirational.
  16. He's sold out right now, but if you want good prices check Model Express (modelexpress.net). Hudson Tim Flock $26.50. Dennis is in Canada but can ship from either country.
  17. Nice and simple build. Looks good. I use multiple clamp lights like the one you have - three with 100w equivalent flourescent bulbs.
  18. Actually, the Hobbytown here doesn't have the best selection either. I did find the new ROG Citroen there recently, but they don't seem to keep well stocked on all kits. HT USA prices aren't good either and you will find a larger selection with better pricing online.
  19. Two great looking Toyotas! I really like the red one - the steel wheels and trim removal are really nice touches. I haven't seen many of these kits built of factory stock. Those are great kits too - some of the best tires ever molded! I always wished Toyota would have imported those things to the US. Nice job.
  20. Beautiful and clean. Love the opening gas fill door.
  21. I've been following this build as 62 Catalinas are one of my favorites - still loving it. All the little details add up to make such a realistic, great looking model.
  22. Camper low rider. Haven't seen that. Cool idea. That bed is definitely warped - unless everything else in the picture is warped in real life and just looks normal in the picture.
