Only 27? More than two per month? Wow! I like your builds - they are nice and clean.

You can change your display name - gpugh1976 - to Greg Pugh in your profile - I didn't like being called my display name either. -
Drilling Distributors
Erik Smith replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I shave the kit molded "stubs" off then use a sharp pin to start a guide hole in the center of each plug location and go slow with a #80 or #79 drill bit. Get ready to have some frustration when your drill bit slides off the side or pops out the side of the distributor - but overall it's not all that hard, especially for young eyes. Keep the drill perpendicular to the surface and go slow. You can repair minor damage with super glue and accelerator and start over with drilling. If the damage is too bad (I've been there), raid another kit or use Alyn's tutorial HERE. -
Who's excited or is it just me?
Erik Smith replied to Tye Brown's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Okay, I admit, I am fairly excited. I absolutely don't need another kit. But when I saw the list for Revell this year, I decided I could use a few more - the '50 Olds, '57 Ford, and '62 Corvette. I don't even like Gremlins, but for some reason after seeing the built up in the AMT advertisement, I thought it would be cool (I liked the tires on the build up - any idea if those will actually be in the kit (Good Year labeled))?. Also, the AMT van - no interest - until I saw the decal sheet - that did something for me. The Hudson convertible I am not as excited about - but will get one. -

I changed my display name to my real name as well - it felt like I was trying to have some sort of weird nickname with a different display name, especially when people would call me that in a post. I am sure there are reasons why some people would not want to have there real or full name displayed - but I prefer to know someone's real name and I don't mind sharing my own. If it helps members act more civil I think it is a reasonable request - whether or not it actually does, I don't know. Thanks for taking on the responsibility of moderator, though, Harry. -
All very nice - like the rat "spin", but my favorite is the Ford Vic custom - i remember the original post and I love the paint job.

I like all 2.5 builds. Really like the open top treatment on the '32 and the open cowl vent. It's worth only two and half build if they are this nice.

Cool Riv - nice paint - the grid pattern breaks up the paint and adds interest but not over the top. Nice build.

Squeaked this one in for another 2011 build. I honestly can't remember which models or how many I finished this year, but I know this is one. Arii's 1/32 scale kit of Nissan's first US import, the Nissan Bluebird. This was a curbside kit and somewhere I got the bright idea to add an engine and other detail and this is what came out. I opened the hood, scratch built an engine using a heavily modified Mini engine and styrene, built up the engine bay, added some additional interior details (which are next to impossible to see) and opened up hood vent and grill.

Nice, classy classic! I like the wide whites, wheels and the flathead - nice work.

AMT 1962 Buick Electra 225 Question
Erik Smith replied to regular guy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Take a look here This is an old kit - so the chassis detail is on par for most kits from that era. It does have a nice body and looks great when built up right. -
Those are both beautiful. I love the subtle mods on the blue car and the opened trunk lid. Excellent.

Very nice work. Photo #1 - Is that a 64 Savoy? Pardon my ignorance, but I like the build - very nice. Excellent builds and thank you for the excellent photography too.

Paint Question for you guys
Erik Smith replied to JustBill's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What color is the plastic? Duplicolor is hot and the clear will bring plastic color through layers of sealer, primer, and paint. I don't think it would be similar to the aging of enamels which will yellow over time. This sounds more like some chemical reaction or reaction to the plastic. -
Ken - I just thumbed through your Fotki album. I have more than a book's worth of questions. Outstanding work. I really like the mirror trick for the inside of the building. I am completely new to diorama building but I am going to start my first attempt soon - looking at your photos will certainly help. Thanks for joining this thread and sharing your input.

I think this will be a perennial "pop back up" thread. I know how it goes Rob, just took me a minute to scroll down and find the thread. That's how I feel about 6 months during the year - right now, not so much. I'll do what I can to keep it alive.

Mold lines on fender are still prevalent: It looks like they are sanded some, but still there. and the very nice decal sheet, which is new: But mine had some contaminants on it - see the brown dot and smaller black dots? Don't know where they came from Overall, it's very cool kit and well worth the money ($27.98 for me) -

What, NO pictures yet? C'mon forum members! Okay, I'll do it. I went to B and B Hobbies in Spokane today and picked up two Tim Flocks(s). Here are the notable differences: Open steel wheels New interior - front and rear seats (rear pictured) side panels exhaust I like the '52 interior better than the '53 - it is really well done and very crisp. The wheels are nice. Oh, the tires are the same just no white walls. Now, two not so good things... -
'40 & '48 Revell Ford kits.
Erik Smith replied to promo55's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think OP says the convertible version. Yes, the new 48 coupe can't be built stock. The last release of the convertible can.
