Very handsome build. Like the color and wheels - like the whole thing actually.

Nice, clean little build. Thanks for posting pictures of a car/model I haven't seen too often - kind of looks like a falling wedge with wheels.
-
I love simple look of the 64 GTOs. Your paint looks great - color choices and application. Should be a nice looking car!

Wow! A thousand bucks!
Erik Smith replied to Terry Sumner's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$999 is crazy - it's a model. eBay is probably a good barometer - it is nothing but unfettered capitalism - here is what I have, how much are you willing to pay. What now? Pay 1000 bucks for a model and build it? Doubt that. Put it in a shelf and stare at it, I guess. -
Nice - this is one of my working projects right now too. I'll follow along! The 64 330s are ugly in a good way and are classic sleeper cars.

What does it take to Build a Model?
Erik Smith replied to DRG's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The base two tools/supplies: knife, glue. Attitude is a very important content. You have to be able to see the reward of putting in the building time - there is no instant gratification in modeling. Modeling, at just about any level, is about investing time into a future reward. Sounds like common sense, but that is why many people of all ages have difficulty building models or understanding the true contentment of the builders. -
Nice build. I like seeing something different. Is that kit a curbside? I think some of those Heller kits could be converted to cool hot rods. Thanks for posting!

I like this build a lot. Everything is coming to together very nice. I really like the wheels - did you open up the slots on them? I also like the contrast of the color of the engine and the primer metal parts of the car. Great - thanks for taking the time to post the build!

Latest AZ Highway Patrol Vehicles

It would be nice to see someone do a newer truck kit - the four door 150s and 250s could be the base for so many kit variants and builds. The engines on all the newer Fords (especially diesels) would probably be best molded as a lump though - there is so much stuff piled in them you can't see past the top end - I think the 2010 diesels have about 5 different radiators/coolers up front alone. -
The grill kind of looks like a chubby guy with bad teeth. It doesn't seem to go with the rest of the build - which looks kind of mean and sinister. Great job on the body mods. Maybe with some paint the grill will have a different look.

Thanks for the info. I am going to do the 5 sp Jerico. I've worked with balsa foam and wax - now I'll try to get my hands on some Renshape.
-
A testament to the quality of the builder and the kit!
-
I like the fact you appear to be obsessive about building scale autos. This is a museum piece - just beautiful. Question regarding renshape - do you hand carve? I have a project I would like to scratch up a Jericho transimission and have used wax before but I am curious how renshape works. Thanks for taking time to post - I check back here regularly hoping for updates

Looking great. I agree with the engine choice - the rest of this kit (suspension, disc brakes) doesn't flow so well with the classic flathead. I like the look of the newer engine with the build. I just picked one of these up and moved it to the front of the queue, so thanks for posting!

Thanks for all the comments. I am happy with the way this kit turned out and glad some of you are also. Rather than describe the techniques I used, I'll try to get some photos together. Thanks again!

Thanks. This works great. I had a problem cutting into the plastic template so I found an aluminum triangle/circle template - hopefully that will last longer.

Smooth all the way around. Don't you like kits that look great out of the box? You did a great job on the paint. Nice build!
-
and... Lot's of fun to build - I didn't have to worry about having a perfectly smooth paint or adding too much detail - in fact, I took some things away! Thanks for looking!

AMT/R2's 49 Ford kit. Grandpa pulled the old flathead out years ago after it blew, he passed away, and everyone forgot about the car. Now, it's pulled from the barn and ready for, well...

Nice! Nice! Clean build! Is this one of the Gunze "Hi-Tech" kits? I don't think I have seen one of the Cobras actually built. Looks really cool.

Clean build - looks great!

Looking really nice. A nice angry angle to the chop. This is a nice kit - worthy of multiple purchases. The 32 Sedan is equally nice (in fact it shares some parts). I like the choice in power plant too.

How long have you been modeling?
Erik Smith replied to wvsm's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Two kits in seven months? That would be a record for me. I have been building model cars for about half of my 39 years - or 19, whichever is less. The first kits I remember building were an MPC Monza or something with a spider on it and I think an AMT Scirocco.
