Knee how! Does that shot of the front end look like a Ford Courier? Looks like the trim is out of whack too - space is too wide? Why, in this day and age (space age!) would they do this to such a discerning audience? This kit seems to marketed at a niche sector that would notice such mistakes, so why not make it accurate? Oh well, somebody buy and build one and post it please. One more observation - does the center console look like a big serving tray?

It's a cool look.

That's one of my favorite parts! Looks good for hating the task. This is a cool truck - can't have too much of a good thing. Custom wheels really make this truck standout. Looks great!

Had a lot of time this weekend to work away. Interior done. Embossing powder for carpet. Box plus, I guess...added spark plug wires, heater hoses, and fuel line. added the rest under here...Krylon flat, Tamiya semi gloss, exhaust is Metalizer Steel and aluminum.

Ya, this is cool. Something different. That flathead looks cool - fenders are looking good.

1. I would agree - a very nice site. A majority of the posters are interested in model cars and there doesn't seem to be a lot of trolls and other annoying online disturbances. There is a variety of builders and I really like that it is an international evdeavor. Looking at the "post your photo" thread, though, it appears to be a fairly male dominated hobby (my youngest daughter likes to build!). 2. Late, yes. I don't have a subscription though, so I just buy it when the hobby shop gets it. It is worth the wait. 3. Yes, I agree. This site and magazine are not some unaccountable, unconnected corporation. It is run by other enthusiasts. If you have a problem, how about suggesting or coming up with a solution? 4. Yes, and since the forum is free for users, there isn't a lot of profit incentive to keep it running. It is done for our benefit. 5. MCM store? Hadn't thought of that. Might be an interesting idea.

Flooring in Model Area
Erik Smith replied to iBorg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I had not thought about that. Costco used to sell the interlocking pads - they were something like 12-15 dollars for a package of about 8. I have them in my garage. I haven't looked lately so I don't know of they still are carrying them. That would add some insulation but you wouldn't be able to roll around without a desk mat thing ( whatever those are called). -
Despite the hood issues, looks like the build is going great. I love steel wheels and dog dishes. I think builds that challenge us make us better - unless they crush our enthusiasm, make us break all the plastic in our house and burn the surviving pieces. The hard work and determination will pay off.

Diversion build...This is such a nice kit, I couldn't not build it. Box stock... Color is Duplicolor Chamapagne, interior is Tamiya and Krylon semi gloss The whitewall decals really work well on this kit - covered with a couple coats of dullcoat The engineering on this kit is remarkable. Everything fits so nicely and looks spot on.

Let's see...Spring Break, another build, oh... I have been chugging away on the transmission. Made some linkages out of silver colored copper wire (from craft store). This stuff is really neat - it's similar to solder but a little stiffer. You can mash the ends easily for linkages, etc. I am going to have to make some modifications to the pan to fit this transmission in the Dodge. Pictures look like I underexposed a bit. Also have the manifold just about where I like it... and the valve covers. Paint is Krylon light texture, or something like that.

Neat idea - love the "only in model" builds. Not that it couldn't be done. I'll be interested to see how it turns out.

Beautiful little Subaru. I think my third kit looked better, but it was hard to see it through all the glue. Nice job and thanks for posting!

How many car/truck modelers?
Erik Smith replied to Erik Smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
One of the main reasons this number interests me is I am wondering if modeling is really that obscure of a hobby. Considering where it used to be, it seems like it is becoming that way. Do I really care what the real number is? No. This is just curiosity. I have spent the better part of 6 hours sitting at my bench today. I have lost track of time which is an indication of pure "flow" - getting lost in an activity. As long as I am still building, I dont care if there are 17000 or 3.6 million. But, I do think the more modelers, the more we all benefit. -
Grill might be similar to the Hasegawa jeeps. I don't have one to compare or measure but they are 1/24 scale. Second the six lugs from the Revell 57 kit. I just looked at hasegawa kit online - only nine slots vs 10 in your photo.

Interesting, yes, you can see it's related to the Celica. I'm looking forward to the engine/drivetrain.

Very nice build. Clean and beautiful. Start building again.
-
Nice looking build. I like the low key paint and overall look. I have something like this in my brain a project or two down the line.
-
Cool. Trying new things is what it's all about.
-
Nice. I like the intercooler visible up front.
-
Great looking build. Your persistence paid off.

Sad about the demise of Mcnally's childhood buddy. Nice build, though. I like the seat swap idea.

Internet buying is fine, but there's really nothing like strolling real aisles! I love visiting the hobby shops around me - I also look for them when I am traveling. I just got back from the Washington Peninsula and found a great little hobby shop - bought the newest MCM and an AMT police interceptor.
