  1. The thing is though, if you wipe out the old veterans of the hobby, things could get very lean, because theres not a whole lot of younger folks getting into the hobby. They are too busy texting one another and playing the latest vid-games and hanging out on facebook. oh well, maybe 32 fords aren't so bad after all........
  2. Thats a nifty litle bug there... Very nice work. The color suits that car very well.
  3. Oh man, a vintage donk!! Holy poop, they really did do that stuff back then........LMAO!!
  4. I'm not a 32 ford buff at all, but thats even painfull for even me to look at .......ouch!!......
  5. Yes, but when any one of those kits are ultimately completed, they are all still 32 fords!! A 32 ford is a 32 ford, yes?.......... [Dave, I'm just messin with ya... ] Yeah, I hope to get to my first NNL east this year, time permitting, of course.
  6. A donked out '32 would probably give all the old timers myocardial infarction.........
  7. Get Bill Geary, he'd knock it out of the park....
  8. Actually, if they were more stock versions built of the 32, it would certainly be a bit refreshing......but 98% of the one's I usually see are all the same typical, run of the mill, hotrod format. Maybe the theme should be FAC-STOCK 32's...that would at least be a slightly different spin on a redundant subject.
  9. Yeah, I actually build some aircraft myself. I'm a big fan of the old biplanes and war planes and such...I also attend some airshows, but hey, don't tell these car guys around here, or we'll likely get black-listed.....LOL. I like the 32 fords, but I've seen so many of those things that I could probably fill all seven of the seas with them, and still have a few left over.... A ferrari theme would be cool....How about big rigs? There are some outstanding builders who specialize in heavy commercial..... Like you said though, alot of times the "themes" are typically based around the "flavor of the month kits" such as the nova, the new 49 merc, the 32 ford, etc.. Next up, it could be the new 442 ragtop olds kit....
  10. Uh oh, looks like George53 is up for another tar and feather session...
  11. I agree......These 32's have been done to death......*yawn* Time to move on to something else.....I don't think theres anymore that can be done with these things. I think we've probably seen every single possible building variation of this car under the sun....Seriously, what more can be done with this poor car?......lol.
  12. Dave, The kit roof was pretty bare and toylike as is, so I looked up a few 1:1 cars to see what I needed to do in order to add on some details, and spice things up a little. The "seams" I added on the roof are just small styrene strip, and the button snaps are photoetched parts....It's not 100% accurate, but it's similar to the 1:1, and looks alot better than just doing nothing. The inner bracing details are from the kit, but have been thinned out and reworked along with some photoetched bolts, screws, and rivets. The Roof's inner bracing was very thick and out of scale a needed alot of attention. The "top down" boot, was partially kit bashed from a revell 48 ford covertible kit, and partially scratchbuilt with sheet plastic.
  13. I saw him on the forum yesterday reading through this stuff, but he never commented or repsonded to any posts. Maybe he was enjoying sitting back and admiring his handy work, and having this topic go into multiple pages.....Who knows.
  14. I bet you guys would be crashing all the time in order to cause repeated "air boob" deployment....LOL.
  15. Those are good points you mention....Alot of those promo-crazy-guys, are like a school of sharks in a feeding frenzy at auction time... For some of them, throwing money around has become a hobby all in itself....
  16. Hettick builds good stuff and I think he does masters for the modelhause or something like that....I've seen some of Hetticks builtups going for close to a $1000 a model sometimes!! But yeah, I 've never really heard of this guy either out on the contest circuit, and I've been doing this stuff for nearly 20 years.....although I think he's west coast based so maybe he's a modeling god out there or something. He has nice stuff, but it's not anything mind blowing or even moderately detailed....They are great shelf models, but somehow he's managed to squeeze some pretty good coin for what he's doing...He must have like a cult following....LOL. Some of his customers bid that stuff up real quick....A while back, He had a car out for less than 6 hours and it went from like 20.00 bucks all the way up to 450.00 !!.....I don't even think it had an engine or full chassis.....Hmmmmm, interesting.
  17. Nice clean work, and very tasteful detailing........ Great job!!
  18. Well, I'm sure theres a few rich guys here and there, that play around with plastic models somewhere on planet earth...or at the very least, pay somebody else alot of bankroll to build them up a few. Shoot, I'm lucky to sell one of my full detail creations for a few measly bucks over on "the bay".....It's amazing some of the very average stuff, thats selling for large amounts over there, especially the curb side stuff. I've seen a few curbsides going for close to $700-$800 smackeroos!! I mean they were decent and all, but they weren't anything super spectacular.
  19. Excellent and informative review, Ron. Thanks for taking the time to go over it all. I'll certainly have to pick up a copy of this kit.
  20. If he has, it's likely only temporary. He'll be back shaking his fists, and pounding the keyboard in the midst of another tantrum.
  21. You know, I've never been to an NNL east show. It always seems to fall on a weekend where I have to work, or I'm out of town on another excursion, or something else....I'm gonna try and get there this year and if not, I'll try and make it to the MAMA show. I haven't been out to the shows in like 2 or 3 years or so...
  22. Looking real good Chris....I have this kit, but have never opened it. Keep the updates comming, I'm interested to see how it goes togther...
  23. Cool muscle cars, but I think those are diecasts...
  24. Thanks for the insight, Pat, I really appreciate it. Alot of times, it's hard to get the full picture just from the internet. It's also hard sometimes, to ask a legit question over the computer without sounding like a wise guy, which is why I was a bit reluctant to ask if George actually built stuff, but I did have my flame suit zipped in case things deteriorated.....Regards, Jeff
  25. Chris, who was "evilone" calling out recently? I must have missed that part. I remember him popping off at the mouth and challenging a bunch of people to build offs and such a while back, but I wasn't aware that he was at it again...... He's always been a chest thumper however....thats nothing new. I think all the E-challenges and keyboard pounding is hilarious....I can tell you one thing though.......If somebody like that was running their mouth as much as he does in some of the bars and towns I used to hang out in, they would be sewing him back together down in the local ICU unit. Computer screens don't make very good safe havens once your out on the streets.
