  1. Dave, I just looked around eBay, Model Empire and Express, and a few others in between and I found nothing. I found plenty of the Eclipses, but no Mustangs and not even the Monte Carlo! My LHS is having their 30% off Sale on Saturday and I'll look there. Rick, since my Spenser's '66 Mustang was the 3rd season version, it sat "high" which was just as well as I used the Keystone wheel and tire set from MRC which placed the tires right at the edge of the fender. For some reason, I happen to like the high riding Mustang that was depicted during that time and it also had a "gasser" look to it. I wanted to do the first season version years ago, but I wasn't able to find the right wheels for the project and it sat for almost 6 months until I happened upon the MRC wheel and tire set at my LHS. Here's a large pic of Spenser's '66 Mustang.
  2. Thanks Charlie! I am now starting to notice things about this Mustang that I didn't notice before. The hood is from a '68 Mustang and the hood from the Revell kit is too long and I'm not about to try to modifiy the Revell hood to fit. For now, I'll just keep going with this one.
  3. More progress! I gave my Dremel something to do by cutting off the axle mounting bosses. A very happy Dremel complied! Then I painted the spokes with Aluminium Metalizer. The motor got a new coat of Ford Engine Blue lacquer. More to come.....
  4. Thanks mikeD1! The coffee cup is actually a shortened magneto from my parts box. It had the shape of a coffee cup with cover and it was painted accordingly. Thank you Nico!
  5. Yesterday, I went to drill out the distributor cap for plug wires and since I wasn't exactly centered, I destroyed the cap. I cut off the cap and dug through my parts box and found a small distributor and using a lot more care, drilled through the cap and then mounted it to the distributor base. I then drilled the holes into the engine block for the plug wires. Before I add the wires, I'll paint the block with a new coat of Ford Engine Blue. More to come.....
  6. Thank you Bob!
  7. Gregg, Robert B. Parker is my favorite author and the Spenser novels are my favorite with the one person viewpoint writing. I need to find more of the Spenser novels which I devour when I go camping. The 4 movies, which were made for Lifetime Television in the mid 90's, follow the novels more closely than the Spenser For Hire TV series did back in the mid 80's and can be a bit slow and lacking the punch of the TV show. While the movies (Spenser Movie Collection) are out on DVD, the TV series is not and probably because someone, somewhere, wants too much money for their part in the production. I will keep ya'll posted on this build as I am just getting started! A feature on Spenser's Mustang GT? Hmmm, this could be interesting...
  8. I don't how your paint booth is set up, but it sounds like you need to get the paint booth over to the window instead of using it on the other side of the room.
  9. Thanks Clay and Charlie! Charlie, I'm using Model Master Honduras Maroon for 2 coats followed by one coat of Tamiya TS-11 Maroon. This will give the shade that I need.
  10. Brandon, I didn't pick up anything at the Classic Plastic show. Due to other obligations, I arrived too late to enter the contest. I did show McNally's Mustang and Charger on the open display table which was fine with me and I did receive some very positive comments.
  11. I was able to get one coat of paint on the body and then the can spit up on the hood. The hood went into the purple pond and I went out to the LHS to get another can of paint. I'll get back to this tomorrow. More to come.....
  12. You are off to a good start, Brandon! I have built two of these kits and they went together with little trouble. Just remember to trim the bottom of the vent windows on the windshield or the interior will not fit properly. Looking forward to more. And Herst is spelled Hurst.
  13. Thanks everyone! Brandon, yes, it will make the show today! Clay, the next one is Spenser's '67 Mustang GT from the TV movie, Spenser A Savage Place. Nico, I'm sorry that you don't like new cars and I'm sure that everyone has their favorite era or year of car. I do like many different eras of cars and building those eras helps keep my builds different and new to me. And, yes, the engine cover is on the new cars now. I used it since it was in the model kit and it is part of the 1:1 car.
  14. This is Testors 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona kit, painted with Testors Colors By Boyd Orange Pearl paint.
  15. The Story McNally finds a cell phone bill in Harvey's locked room and uses the number to call him. Harvey answers and McNally introduces himself and tells him that he wants to meet. Harvey tells him to meet at the other end of the warehouse parking lot at 9:00 PM where he bombed McNally's Mustang. McNally agrees to the meet, hangs up, and presses a speed-dial number as he gets into the Charger, completes the call and then drives away. McNally steps out of the alley into the parking lot with his gun drawn and sees Harvey standing in a warehouse doorway holding an AK-47 trained on him. As Harvey steps out towards McNally, he tells Harvey to lower his rifle and he'll lower his gun at the same time. Harvey says no, aims his rifle at McNally and then a shot rings out from across the parking lot and Harvey falls to his knees dropping the AK-47 and McNally runs over, kicks the rifle away as Harvey clutches his shoulder now bleeding profusely. Det. Sgt Troy arrives in a squad car with several officers with an ambulance right behind them and takes Harvey into custody as Vic comes running over carrying his sniper rifle. "Right on target", McNally says. The Build McNally's Charger is finished and is posted in Under Glass. My thanks to everyone who took the time to look and to comment on my build.
  16. I'll be there, too!
  17. Thanks Charlie and Rob! McNally's Charger is up on 4 wheels and the front and rear spoilers are attached. The front spoiler has a slight warp to it and I did say that this Charger may have been abused a bit by it's previous owner, but I'll try to straighten it out. I'm still hoping to have McNally's Charger done for this Sunday's Classic Plastic Show, but with a death in the family and my granddaughter's birthday party coming up on Sunday, I'll be really busy. More to come.....
  18. Clay, I was told that Testors Colors By Boyd Roadstar Florida Orange Pearl is kind of close to Testors Colors By Boyd Orange Pearl and it comes in a spray can. Unfortunately, the Colors By Boyd Orange Pearl is not available in a spray.
  19. The Story After loading the weapons into the impound van, Det. Sgt. Troy pulls McNally aside and asks him what he is going to do next. McNally says, "I'm going to draw Harvey out by offering myself to him." Adam says, "He's gonna kill you, ya know." "Yes, I know he'll try, but I've got a plan." The Build The interior, chassis, and body are one and now this is starting to look like a car that McNally wants to drive. If there is a down side to this model, besides the tall ride height, it's the lack of detail on the taillights. I painted the inside of the lenses with Tamiya Clear Red and I'll try to replicate the backup lights with strips of BMF. More to come.....
  20. I added a few things to the interior of McNally's Charger like his PDA on the console, a coffee cup, and his digital SLR camera on the passenger seat. Somewhere along the way I had lost the insert for the engine cover. I took a piece of paper and traced the opening and cut it out, transferred the opening onto a piece of sheet styrene, cut it out, and painted it. The kit instructions and box art showed the entire back of the trunk lid painted flat black, which I really didn't care for. I thought I once saw a picture of a Charger with a different design and found it on Google Images. This design looks better and I copied onto the Charger's trunk lid. More to come.....
  21. SWAT was one of those shows I had watch a couple of times. When it was on the air, I was getting involved with other aspects of my life and watched little TV back then. I got the body into primer last night and it's looking good. A little light sanding and paint will fly today! More to come.....
  22. Thanks Clay, Wayne and Charlie! I still have a ways to go. My goal is to have the Charger complete by Saturday.
  23. I am fairly confident that I will! Thanks Brandon! The Story McNally returns to his client's house and asks Louise if he can look around the house and in particular, any area that Harvey spent a lot of time in. Louise shows him to the cellar and to a locked room. McNally pulls out his lock picks and opens the door to see some weapons, ammo, and a couple of bricks of C-4, but no RPGs. This is why the ATF agents wouldn't tell him anything before, Harvey is selling illegal guns and explosives. McNally pulls out his cellphone and calls Sgt. Troy to update him on his find and to not tell the Feds as he want this guy on his own terms. Adam agrees and says he is on his way over with a van and a couple of trusted detectives to impound the weapons. The Build Friday night I painted the body again with another coat of paint and on Saturday morning I clear coated the Charger. Saturday evening I polished the body and hood and installed the grille. More to come.....
  24. Charlie, I took a quick look at Amazon.com and Vegas Season I, Parts 1 & 2 is out on DVD. I hate it when they break up a TV season into "parts". Spenser For Hire is not (officially) out on DVD. There are a couple of sellers with bootleg DVD's of Spenser For Hire which are low quality episodes of the series taken from TV. I was told that the music composer, at one time, had tied things up over the release due to money (of course). Some of the worst shows on TV are releaased on DVD immediately after cancellation and some of the best shows are never released at all. Go figure! I believe that Spenser For Hire is available for viewing on Hulu or FanCast.
