  1. Thanks guys! I don't know if I'll be bringing it to any shows just yet. I usually just attend shows and leave my models at home. I may wait until later in the year.
  2. My '66 Barracuda is now done and posted in the Under Glass section. Thank you everyone for your comments!
  3. This is my '66 Barracuda from MCW. It is painted with Tamiya TS-8 Italian Red. The chassis is from the AMT '69 Barracuda with tires from the AMT '71 Charger R/T kit. Many pieces where swapped with the chrome plated parts from the Hemi Under Glass kit.
  4. This is so true! It would be great if Revell or Round 2 would release a new tool full detail kit of a Barracuda Formula S. I have spent many hours searching the web looking for a "Commando 273" air cleaner picture so I can make a decal for my Barracuda. I finally found one this afternoon. It's not perfect, but it'll do.
  5. Thank you Don and Sean! Don, I got my Barracuda kit from Model Car World. The kit goes for $37.00 and includes the body, hood, complete interior, tires and wheel covers, wheel backs, and vaccuum formed glass. http://mcwautomotivefinishes.com/ I have made some progress! I got the chassis, interior, and body together. I decided against the kit tires in favor of the tires from the AMT '71 Charger R/T kit. The wheel covers fit is snug and leaves the inner ridge of the tire exposed so I use a silver Sharpie on the ridge and now the ridge looks to be a part of the wheel cover. More to come.....
  6. While I don't use Fotki, I do use Photobucket. I copy the code using [ img] and [ /img] before and after. I paste the code to my reply and the picture appears on the page. Are you using your Fotki account to post pics from or are you trying to post them directly from you PC?
  7. I was all geared up for the storm to attack the Northeast and all I got was a dusting of snow here in New Hampshire. We were joking about Washington, DC getting hit hard with snow for all of the bad stuff they have been giving the rest us over the years! It appears that some of that has spilled over onto you. Sorry!
  8. Yes Casey, I did cement the rear valance panel to the body before painting and you are correct, there is very little area to join the panel to the lower rear fenders. It just takes a little bit of patience and some strong glue!
  9. I got the body painted yesterday! Have a look. I needed to find a set of rear shocks for my 'Cuda since this has never had included any. The shocks came from the '69 Charger Daytona kit and where cut down to fit the chassis. Chassis assembly is complete and awaiting motor installation. More to come.....
  10. Thanks guys! Brian, I never really like the black out treatment on the headlights on the new Mustangs so I usually leave it off when I build one. So far, most of my Mustangs have been built without the flat black.
  11. Thanks for the tip Jon. I am usually pretty lucky at getting all 4 wheels to sit on the ground, but I will keep this tip in mind when I do get to installing the wheels and tires.
  12. I needed to make some additions to the '69 Barracuda chassis that I am using for my '66 Barracuda. I cut out 8 styrene wedges and glued them together to make 4 axle supports for the chassis. I then cut out 2 strips of styrene and glued them to the wheel wells of the chassis to give the body support at the front and to cover up the openings between the chassis and body. More to come.....
  13. I have completed the 340 motor, or at least I think I have! I am considering adding a few more details. For some reason I am having trouble getting the lower fenders smooth, but I'll keep working at it! More to come.....
  14. Thanks guys! The WW tutorial was done last year and posted in the Tips section. Having the template allows one to make whitewalls on any size tire (except 1:1, of course) quickly and easily and even though I haven't tried it myself, using the next size circle, you could possbily make wider white walls.
  15. Christian, here's a tutorial on how to make whitewall tires. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=25445&st=0&p=237152&fromsearch=1&#entry237152 I realize that you live in England and that the stores I have listed in my tutorial are not available there, so check out any craft stores or office supply stores for templates and pens.
  16. Bradley, I had the same idea a couple of years ago and built one based on a '66 Belvedere II I saw at the gas station one afternoon. I even made my own bench seat using the kit's bucket seats. I just checked and there is a resin bench seat for the Belvedere on eBay right now if you are interested. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Resin-67-Plymouth-Belvedere-Bench-Seat_W0QQitemZ120525080975QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item1c0fdac98f I look forward to your progress!
  17. I wanted to add power steering to my 'Cuda but I didn't have the correct belt assembly in my parts box. I improvised by addiing part of another belt assemlby to the kit fan belt. It's not 100% accurate, but it'll do for me. The distributor and cylinder heads have been drilled out for plug wires. More to come.....
  18. I have just finished the interior. Have a look. The body has been wet sanded and received another coat of Italian Red paint. A fine polishing and more motor work is next. More to come.....
  19. Thanks for the pictures, Nick. Other than the exterior/interior colors, it's not what I'm building. But, I do appreciate it!
  20. Knowing that the front suspension will put the nose of the car up into the tree tops, I went ahead and cut off the spindles. I used some small squares of styrene to shim the spindles to make up for the difference from cutting them off. I mounted the spindles about 1/8 inch high on the suspension uprights which will lower the nose of the 'Cuda. I then realized that I needed to shim the front valance to make up the difference from removing the lower fenders. The motor is partially assembled and painted. I found a single 4-barrel intake that may have come from a big block Ford. It dosen't look too bad just as long as you don't look at it too long. More to come.....
  21. I'll be using a set of Magnum 500's for this build. The completed car will look like the Hemi 'Cuda, only it will be a convertible.
  22. Last year I built a '71 Hemi 'Cuda using the Revell Hemi 'Cuda Street Machine kit. I tried out making some changes that seemed to work quite well and the 'Cuda came out better than I had expected! I wanted to build a sister car to the Hemi 'Cuda using the Revell Hemi 'Cuda Convertible kit (AKA "Nash Bridges" Hemi 'Cuda Convertible). I'll replace the Hemi with the 340 from the Challenger T/A kit. I have enough MCW Hemi Orange paint left over from the Hemi 'Cuda build for this project. The interior will be white with black accents. I'll be using the '70 'Cuda hockey stick decals from Keith Marks. I have a twin scoop hood from Time Machine Resin. I've started by cutting off the lower fenders from the grille. I've glue them to the front fenders on the body. I'll putty the seams to hide them. I have always preferred a duck tail spoiler over a wing spoiler since the wing looks tacked on. The '69 Charger Daytona is the exception to that. Here's a picture of "Big Brother" Hemi. More to come.....
  23. I do believe that the new "Impact" colors are a pearl. I was looking at a new Challenger SRT-8 yesterday in B5 Blue which is now a pearl color. I don't think they listed that color as an "Impact" color though.
  24. Yeah, that's what I meant to say! Let's just call it a brain fart! Nick, thanks for pics! I have the March 2010 issue of Mopar Muscle magazine which as a great article on a '66 Barracuda Formula S that I am using for reference.
  25. I used Model Master Acryl Teal for mine which very close to the picture I found. http://image.automobilemag.com/f/26181191+w750+st0/1001_03_z+1969_aMC_hurst_sC_rambler+engine.jpg My SC/Rambler 390.
