  1. I used Model Master Acryl Teal for mine which very close to the picture I found. http://image.automobilemag.com/f/26181191+w750+st0/1001_03_z+1969_aMC_hurst_sC_rambler+engine.jpg My SC/Rambler 390.
  2. I have decided to take the plunge and tackle a resin kit. The kit is MCW's '66 Barracuda. I happen to have the MPC Hemi Under Glass kit and decided to compare the to bodies and I found them to be very similar especially the chrome pieces. I swapped out the unplated pieces for the chrome plated grille, bumpers, and taillights. I will be painting the kit with Tamiya's TS-8 Italian Red. The body was cleaned and prepped and got a coat of primer. This kit comes with 13" wheels, tires, and wheel covers. I gave the tires white stripes. The motor is partially assembled and painted with Model Master Chrysler Engine Red lacquer. I will drill the heads out for plug wires. More to come.....
  3. I have finished my Mustang GT and it is posted Under Glass. Thansk for looking and commenting!
  4. This is my completed Mustang GT with Pegasus 23" Chrome T's, painted with Model Master Grabber Orange lacquer, and decals from the '70 Boss 302 Mustang.
  5. I had a few minutes tonight and she's got wheels! More to come.....
  6. Thanks Greg! This is coming along really well! Last night, I made a copy of the strut tower brace that is in the Shelby GT-H kit. I used 1/16 round rod and some sheet styrene. I think it came out pretty good. I could have spent a little more time on the mounting plates though. More to come.....
  7. I think the 23's will just barely fit. It's gonna be tight! I took the airbox from my '06 Shelby GT-H and took some measurements and transposed them to a piece of sheet styrene and bent it to shape. I cut the kit airbox off from the tube and will use a resin K&N air filter from Scale Dreams. A mock up of the new air intake. More to come.....
  8. Thanks guys! After looking at the posted pics, I went back to the bench and looked at the Mustang some more, thinking that something wasn't right. The stripes didn't look right against the rear fender flare. I took my hobby knife with a new sharp blade and scored the stripe at the flare. I used a piece of tape on the unwanted stripe and pulled it off the body. I am in the process of modifying the Pegasus wheels to fit under the fenders. More to come.....
  9. I've added the decals from Revell's '70 Boss 302 with a little modification to the decals. Have a look! I'll clean it up and clearcoat the body and hood. More to come.....
  10. I asked these 3 fellows to help, but the one in the yellow shirt kept telling me to beam him down to the planet, the blue shirted guy with the funny ears kept telling me that building a 1/25 scale replica of a real motor vehicle was "illogical", the the red shirted guy kept talking something about changing the laws of physics, whatever that means!
  11. Thanks guys! I finished the interior last night. While searching for parts for my next project, i found these side louvers from a Revell '65 Mustang, ao I grabbed my can of paint and painted them. I was recently told that I was a brave man for modifying a freshly painted body. Well, I did it again! I elongated the window opening slightly to fit the louver. I think it looks pretty good! More to come.....
  12. This is my completed Daytona. Paint is Tamiya TS-19 Metallic Blue with a white interior. The motor is a 426 dual quad Hemi with a 4-speed trans.
  13. I made a grille for the Mustang to represent a grille minus the horse emblem using 3/64 Diamond photoetch. I also flocked the interior floor. More to come.....
  14. Thank you Greg! The wife is in bed with a cold and the house is quiet so I found myself in my hobby room working on my Mustang before I turn in for the night. I finished the chassis minus the rotors which I'll install later when the Mustang is nearly complete. The interior is next! More to come.....
  15. Some progress! The motor, radiator, and exhaust system have been installed. I'll start on the suspension next. More to come.....
  16. If I remember correctly, this hood scoop came from the AMT 1987 Ford Mustang GT kit. It is considerable smaller than the Boss 429 hood scoop. Here's a pic of the Mustang GT I built a couple of years ago with the Boss 429 hood scoop. As you can see, it is considerable larger.
  17. Thanks guys! Brian, I'll start the suspension when the rest of the model is almost complete. I like having the interior and chassis in place when I start modifying the suspension. This will give me a true sense of the car height when mocking up the wheels and tires inside the wheelwells and fenders.
  18. Thank you Jim! After shoveling and snowthrowin' this morning, and having lunch with my granddaughter this afternoon, I went and start painting my Mustang and some of it's various pieces. More to come.....
  19. A little progress to report.....I found a hood scoop in my parts box. It's not exactly what I was looking for, but it'll do since it is a FoMoCo hood scoop. I turned the wing spoiler into a flush mount spoiler by sanding down the ends of the spoiler and removing the mounting tabs. More primer and sanding is ahead! More to come.....
  20. Those 23's fill the wheel wells very well, especially when I lower the suspension. I have a technique for lowering these Mustangs, but I now have a better way to mock up the wheels in the fenders to set the ride height. I'll post that when I get to that stage of the build.
  21. Bill, this is the first time I ever had a problem with Revell decals and I think the problem is due to the age of the decals. If I knew this was going to happen I would have tried coating them with some Microsol Liquid Decal Film. Oh well, life goes on!
  22. Thanks Jared! I'm glad you've been watching! DISASTER!!!!! My 10 year old decals broke apart after dipping them in water. I could order a set from Keith Marks, but then the Daytona would be sitting on the bench for a couple of weeks longer than what I wanted. My solution is to mask, sand, and paint the stripe on. More to come.....
  23. I happen to love these Revell Mustang kits. They are easy to build and to detail and accept a lot of modifications easily. I've had this particuliar kit in my stash for a while now and was influenced to build based on some pictures I found on Google Images of Chip Foose's Stallion Mustang. My neighbor's son had gotten a Bullitt Mustang kit for Christmas and had attempted to spray the body dark green and the result was a messed up body with many paint runs and poor coverage. I traded the body from my Mustang kit for his and taught him the proper technique of painting with a spray can. I know he was a bit discouraged with his first attempt at painting, but hopefully he now knows the proper way to paint and will try again. I took the painted body and threw it into the purple pond to soak overnight and this morning I sanded the body down to this. I will give the body a couple good coats of primer. I will use the left over decals from Revell's '70 Boss 302, a set of Pegasus 23" Chrome T's, and Model Master Grabber Orange lacquer. I am thinking of using the hood scoop from AMT's '66 Mustang kit and will modify the rear spoiler from the Revell Mustang kit into a flush mount spoiler. Let's see what I can make of this..... More to come.....
  24. Thanks Jon and George! I've been sitting at the bench looking at my Daytona and without the wing, it looks pretty good! But, it's just not a Daytona without one, so I'll be installing that soon.
  25. Thanks Harry, but isn't there a member here by that name? And, I do know of one other person to whom that title may apply. Up on 4 wheels! I did a mock up this morning to check the stance and it's perfect! I used the stock car spindles instead of the factory stock spindles which set the rack just where I wanted it. I might finish my Daytona today, but there is still a lot of work left to do. More to come.....
