Being a fan of Robert B. Parker's Spenser novels and the Spenser For Hire TV series, I am starting another Spenser project. Spenser's '67 Mustang GT as shown in the TV movie Spenser: A Savage Place. In the movie, Spenser is told by an old girlfriend that he is still driving the same old car, to which he replies, "Same car, new paint job." As a fan of the series, I immediately noticed that this is not the same car. The series ended almost 10 years previously and this movie was filmed in Toronto, Canada and the original Mustang was reportly stolen according to Robert Urich's website prior to his passing. This car was sourced from Canada by the movie production company. A picture of Spenser's '67 Mustang GT. I am using an old built up model for this project and this morning I blew apart the model for reconstruction. The motor will be refreshed and wired. I need a set of wire wheels for this project and all I have seen are the low rider style with deep offset. I found these wheels in the '66 Merc Park Lane kit and look close enough for what i need.

Brandon, now that you have added a story line to your build, use it as an influence for your build. It would help immensely if your story was complete before the build continues so you don't end up changing details in the story later becuase of changes needed for the build. Keep at it!

Brandon, I feel like I just wounded you! The story is as it is. My influences are the novels of the late Dr. Robert B. Parker and the Spenser For Hire TV series along with a few other TV PI's thrown in for good measure, but the storyline is all mine. I appreciate you trying to add something to the build, but my plan is sound and my course is set. McNally lives...in my mind! I just saw your Daytona thread and you have added a story line! Use it as an influence for your build.

If you "borrow" money from your sister's piggybank so you can get that new model kit, you might be a young model builder! This is a great concept!

Brandon, I need to tell you a little about McNally. He is a licensed private investigator who use to be a Boston Police Department detective. He still has many friends on the force and his best friend is Det. Sgt. Adam Troy. McNally is a former Army CID investigator who left the Army when is hitch was up and joined the Boston PD as a patrolman and worked his way up to detective. He is very intelligent and uses his street smarts to help in investigating cases. McNally's father was a BPD patrolman who was killed in the line of duty and McNally is credited for bringing his father's killer to justice. While McNally is a PI, deep inside, he is still a police officer. McNally has no need to outrun the law, the law is on his side. So Brandon, there will be no nitrous or nitro going into this car. The Hemi has all the power he needs.

Yes, I did see it. Nice job on the motor. If you are building a factory stock Daytona, the motor color callout in the instructions are wrong. The '69 440's were painted Street Hemi Orange, not Chrysler Engine Red. I know it's probably too late to correct it, so continue on with your build. And, McNally does not carry explosives in his car. He is a licensed private investigator, not an urban terrorist.

Thanks Charlie! Sometimes, thinking outside the box(or looking inside your parts box) helps to create something new. Being an amateur (very amateur) photographer, I saw the body of an SLR camera in a 4 barrel carb and went on from there. It had the basic shape and I refined it and added a styrene lens to it. Some people look at a bunch of parts and only see the parts. Not me, I see possibilities!

Thanks Wayne! The Story McNally stops at a gas station to fill the tank of his new car and to check it over. If there were any issues with the car to look for, Vic would have told him about it. The car is in pretty good condition inspite of the fact that the previous owner may have abused the car a bit. New tires, new plugs, and an oil change makes this car feel fairly new. Or at least, new to him! His cellphone rings and it's his attorney, Charlotte "Charlie" Rothmann calling between court sessions to see if he's OK. McNally tells tells her that he's fine and that he is out hunting his would-be assassin. Charlie tells him to call her ASAP if he needs anything. He tells her that he will and ends the call when the pump stops pumping. He returns the nozzle to the pump, gets his receipt, and drives out of the gas station to go play a hunch. The Build I finshed the interior this afternoon. This is McNally's new digital SLR camera. It's actually a 4 barrel carb with one float bowl cut off and glued to the other side to represent a grip with a shutter release button and a short piece of parts sprue for a telephoto lens. I'll paint this up and detail it. More to come.....

Clay, nice job on the Charger so far! You should look into a set of Pegasus wheels to use in place of the stock wheels. If not, like someone else said...paint them black. Keep up the good work!

I am planning on bringing both McNally cars...the Mustang and the Charger to Classic Plactic. MassCar is too far into the future to consider what I'll be bringing. I am starting to think about what I want to put into the interior for McNally's gear. A new camera is a must and maybe his PDA or his Smith and Wesson Model 639. Or all of them.

On Friday night, I sat staring at the box art of the Charger kit and the more I stared, the more I didn't like the grille surround being completely flat black. I removed the grille surround from the chrome parts tree and tossed it into the purple pond. Today, I painted the grille surround the body color instead. I flocked the interior floor. And, I detailed the dash, console, steering wheel, and grille. More to come.....

Yesterday afternoon, I went out and purchased the current issue of Mopar Action and found the Keisler ad on page 9. I just might send an email to Shafi Keisler (through Facebook), introduce myself and tell him about my project and show him a picture of the completed Charger model.

It is difficult to figure out what a car has for options and features when the only resource is a picture from a calendar from 2 years ago. I look forward to hearing more! Thanks Nick!

I too, am interested in Revell's new releases. But, if you want Revell to consider making a certain subject, you should tell them about it. Send them a letter or email and tell them what you would like to see in the future. Don't send a petition with lots of signitures as some companies view that as only one letter. The more letters sent by other individuals will have a greater affect on them. Just my 2 cents!

The Story McNally catches up with the 2 ATF agents and asks them about their interest in his Mustang. The Feds tell him that they are tracking a shipment of stolen RPGs that's been missing for about 2 months and that they have a possible suspect in mind, but wouldn't tell McNally their name. McNally offered to trade info for the name, but the Feds said that McNally could possbily leak that name to the wrong people and they would lose their suspect, their case, and the missing shipment of RPGs. A cooperative bunch these Feds! The Build I finished the center console. I needed some decals for the instrument panel and found that the extra decals from the AMT 2009 Challenger R/T kit would work. A perfect fit! More to come.....

I started the interior with painting the seats, partially assembled console and front seats, and other pieces dark gray. Pieces like the headliner and visors were painted in a contrasting light gray. I'll coat the seats, console, and dash with semi-gloss clear later. More to come.....

I spent the last 45 minutes carefully reading this thread and I am very impressed with the build quality from Bill and Len. I plan on getting this kit in the future and so far, I like what I have seen on this thread. I have learned a lot from this and will try it on my current build which is half done and on my next build, too. Thanks Bill and Len for starting this thread and I look forward to more!

I have to agree with Charlie on this, too. I don't always use them, but I like them just the same. I'm liking the color of your Charger and I look forward to seeing more.

Wayne, it appears that you have had variety of handguns for your job. And while I am not involved with law enforcement, I have always liked S & W and have inherited my fathers Model 39 that he used for protection where he worked. Charlie, very well put! Rick, the Mannix Roadster was a huge 2 seater with sort of a spy car feel to it. Not quite like 007's DB5, but sorta close to it. Give McNally's new ride some time in the salt coated, snow covered roads around Boston and it'll start aging!

Wayne, did you retire or go for a different firearm? THE STORY As McNally drives away from Vic's Garage, he marvels at the power and ride of the Charger. It has more room than the Mustang and a bigger trunk for his extra gear and even though the color is a bit bright for his sleuthing, he likes it anyway. He's off to find the ATF agents who where looking over the destroyed Mustang to find out what their involvement is about. THE BUILD I have completed the chassis and now the steering is posable. I wanted to lower the suspension, but I think it can only be done on the front. I decided to build it OOB and will live with it. The interior is next along with more painting. More to come.....
