Even I can't post any pictures to my thread. Can somebody fix the glitch in this system, please!

I have finished the engine at this point minus the air cleaner and painting the transmission. More Riviera to come...

Thank you guys!

Looks great Steve!

Steve, I know you were only responding to my reply. I am aware of these PE sets, but I just can't justify to cost of purchasing them just to get three pieces of PE. The '70 GSX PE set is 1/24 scale and the '66 Riviera PE set is 1/25 scale. My plan is to build this Riviera mostly out-of-box with the exception of a wired engine and wheels from the AMT '67 Riviera. Thank you Steve!

Thanks guys! I was going to post an entire diatribe about the car and this kit, but I changed my mind. Probably for the better. Basically, this kit is not a Riviera GS. But, I see it as one since everything that made a Riviera GS is hidden under the body. To you it may not be a Rivera GS, but to me, it is.

Based on my research, this model is a Riviera GS and not the standard Riviera. I suspected that this model was a GS since it came with the dual carb setup and was missing the side vents between the door edge and the rear wheel arches. Too bad AMT never saw fit to call this model a GS like they should have. This is also very old tooling since the chassis also includes the exhaust system and most of the front and rear suspension. I got the engine mostly assembled and I drilled out the distributor cap for ignition wires which were superglued into place. I may have to find a piece of wire here in the shop to make plug boots from. More Riviera to come...

Thank you David! My only wish for this kit is that it should have been a GS version. Dual quads tells me that it should have been a GS.

My new project is AMT's '65 Buick Riviera. I would have really liked it if this kit was a GS or Gran Sport version, but the GS version has improvements over stock that you really can't see on the outside. My paint will be Dupli-Color Emerald Green Metallic with a Tan leather interior. The wheel covers will be replaced with Buick's Chrome Plated Road Wheel and they were a gift from my friend, Barry Fadden. Thank you Barry! My inspiration for this build is a '65 Riviera GS that I have seen at several car shows. More Riviera to come...

I have finished my '87 Boss 429 Thunderbird and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my WIP.

This is my '87 Thunderbird. No paint, just polished plastic. I replaced the inline four cylinder turbocharged engine with a wired Boss 429 big block engine. Just a wash and reassemble with a new and larger engine.
-
Thanks Craig and Charlie! Originally, the Thunderbird Turbo Coupe was suppose to compete along side with the Mustang SVO against some of the European cars. But, that turned out to be a big sales disaster for the Turbo Coupe and the Mustang SVO.

Thanks Scott and Joe! Sometimes a build can remind you of a 1:1 car that you may have seen at a show or on the street or parking lot somewhere. It happens to me quite often and I am compelled to build that model. One such car I saw at a car show is a '65 Buick Riviera GS that caught my eye. I have the AMT kit and I will build it someday soon.

Thank you Jeremy!

This is another refugee from the dirty and dusty model shelves. This Monte Carlo SS was washed, polished and reassembled. The body was not painted and there is a metallic in the plastic that shimmers in certain light. The engine was wired, but the model is built box stock.

I got the T-Bird body trim painted and the body polished. I added the glass and the interior to the body. I'm using a Parts by Parks aluminium distributor on the engine. I may need plug boots, too. More Thunderbird to come...
-
I masked the T-Bird this morning and brush painted the trim around the windows and the body side moldings. I had some bleed under the tape, so now it's cleanup time. The more I stared at the exhaust system, the more I didn't like it. I cut the mufflers from the Turbo exhaust and the Mustang Boss 429 exhaust and swapped them around. More Thunderbird to come...

Tonight, I got the engine installed into the chassis. Save for a few touchups, the chassis is done! The exhaust system hooked up right where it should. I'll add some exhaust tips and maybe notch the rear bumper for the tips. More Thunderbird to come...
-
And, it was done! I turned the engine into a dry sump engine to get it lower in the chassis. I'll create a new transmission and engine mounts for the frame. The only clearance issue I had was the overflow container was hitting the pump on the left side of the belt assembly.

I think it will be, Vince. I am using parts from the Monogram '70 Boss 429 Mustang. The engine should fit and the exhaust system from the Mustang should fit with some minor tweaking.
-
Looks good! Almost like the one I built years ago.
-
A unique idea! Looks good. A suggestion...remove the "bumps" on the hood scoops. They shouldn't be there.

This Thunderbird is another refugee from my dusty and dirty model shelves. When I get done with this T-Bird, it will no longer be a Turbo Coupe! Why? It will have a Boss 429 engine in its engine compartment, that's why. This T-Bird was covered with dust and dust-puppies and I started to clean it off. Then, the model started to fall apart. I remember reading in Hot Rod Magazine some time ago about rodders stuffing Ford V8s into the T-Bird and then Ford followed suit by adding a 5.0 Ltr. V8 to their lineup. I'm going to attempt the same, but with a BIG PUNCH! The Boss 429 is on the left. The others were considered and much smaller. It fits the frame rails, but it might have to be lowered a bit to fit under the hood. More Thunderbird to come...
