Range Rover Police
mrmike replied to mrmike's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
The Range Rover is slowly coming back together. The windows have been reinstalled from the inside like they should be. I cleaned the surfaces on the body and the windows and reglued them using regular model glue very sparingly. I should have used epoxy instead. The light bar broke on one side between the light and the center housing. I reglued that and found a piece of wire for another antenna that will go on the roof in front of the light bar. I need to make a base for that. More Range Rover Police to come... -
I have two of the Coronet Convertibles in the stash to build. Yours is looking good!

Tonight, I removed the 2-way radio and mounted it higher on the dash so it could be seen better, especially when I get the windows reinstalled which may limit visibility somewhat. I've been cleaning up the glass of the clear glue mess around the outer edges. I am going to reinstall them on the outside of the body instead. One of the things that bothered me about the light bar was that the bottom was completely open. While it may not be seen, I wanted to cover the bottom with a piece of styrene just to satisfy me. So far, I have found two of the four missing hair pins and the missing hood disc. It's amazing what suddenly appears on the work bench!

Well, the Range Rover Police is back on the bench! I would like to take this to the Classic Plastic Model Exhibition on October 6, but this Range Rover needs additional work! The body needs to be cleaned up and the windows are a real pain. -

Well, the Range Rover Police is back on the bench! I would like to take this to the Classic Plastic Model Exhibition on October 6, but this Range Rover needs additional work! The body needs to be cleaned up and the windows are a real pain. I have tried to mount the windows on the inside of the body, but the fit is less than so-so. I may remove the windows, clean them up and remount them on the outside. The body needs a good polishing and the decals are fine as they are. More Range Rover Police to come... -

Thank you Atin! I have been on a British vehicle kick for over a year. Astons, Jags, Morgans, MGs, even a Range Rover! Definitely different! -
This is something I have been putting off since I completed this Mustang...hood pins! I bought this set from the NNL East two years ago from Detail Master and I have been struggling with prep and installation for hours! I lost 4 hair pins and one hood disc and several pieces of wire. This may never get used again! ?

Thanks Terry and Dave!

I took a chance that the wheels and tires will fit this Coronet once I lowered the front suspension. If worse comes to worse, I can modify the king pins and the wheelbacks further and then glue the wheels and tires to the suspension. This model will not roll off the table! [:D] More Foose Coronet to come...

Thank you Mike and Jeff! Revell is releasing the Land Rover 109" LWB at some point. The long wheelbase to me looks kind of awkward compared to the 88" Wheelbase that I had built. I have always preferred the 88" wheelbase. -

Thank you Gene! I now have a '61 and a '62 Impala painted in the same color inside and out. I have a '63 Impala in the stash that will get the same treatment.

Thanks Tom and Jeff! I applied some putty to the seat last night before turning in. Now to start sanding and to see where this goes from here.

Finally back onto the Foose Coronet! Yesterday, I worked on the chassis by adding the engine and driveshaft and the front and rear suspensions. The engine is in need of some touchups. I did a mockup and found that the front suspension sits way to high and will need to be lowered. I may try to lower the rear suspension. The automatic transmission and the 4-speed transmission are the same length and the driveshaft fits perfectly! I spent some time working on the bench seat by covering the space between the buckets with sheet styrene. The back of the seat was the most challenging for me. More Foose Coronet to come...
