  1. I find this hobby is a good way to wind down and relax . Drawing custom cars and hot rods was my consuming passion for years, but building them in scale now is much more satisfying in the end.. This will be a great learning curve for being able to take my builds to another level from the knowledge gained by jumping in on this. By the way, the build subject is DEFINITELY not my cup of tea but there are a lot of neat little details in that car.
  2. Nice little Jag.
  3. This challenge sounds like a great idea Kenn. I've scratchbuilt four trucks now, but I've still had to rely on some kit parts such as engines wheels tyres etc,to finish them. I've considered building cars from scratch so Id like to jump in on this one. I doubt Ill make the deadline because I'm a full time dad which means I've only got a few hours at night where I can build, but, count me in.
  4. Man.....this is going to look awesone!! Great detailing so far and real clean building. I like what you've done with the rear bumper, never seen that done before. Ill be watching the rest of this build for sure.
  5. These old Mack COEs are so cool. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.

That colour looks so good on this, top work. The more I see of this kit the more I want one....or ten!!
  7. Lacing your own wire wheels....YOU Sir are crazy!! They look great. This build thread is awesome keep it coming.
  8. I've been waiting for an update on this one. Say what they will about the Edsel I reckon they were beautiful. This is looking very nice so far.
  9. Now the best part, the stages just before paint. This thing is gonna look awesome!!
  10. Man that is awesome. Beautiful work.
  11. The real cars are definitely not my cup of tea but the level of work that is going into detailing this is something else. Look forward to more updates.
  12. Coo,l this will be interesting.
  13. . I'm still learning to try and read threads about cars I have no interest in and this thread is another that reminds me you don't have to like something to appreciate the thought, planning, problem solving and talent it takes to pull something off and make it work. This build is great can't wait to see what's next and the finished model.
  14. It seems to me the more talented a builder is and the more they utilise scratchbuilding parts for their models the more negative comments they get from others who aren't quite as willing to build their own. All negativity aside, it takes guts to take such an oddball subject and to be able to create all the parts needed to make it look like the real car. Great work so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your updates on the build and the finished model.
  15. Great colour choice. That is really nice.
  16. Awesome work here on this thread. My contribution is this H61 Mack. Apart from the rims tyres diesel tanks headlights and running lights, it is entirely scrachbuilt. Not as intricate as some of the other subjects here but its definitely my favourite in my collection.
  17. The thing I like most about this forum is crazy ideas just like this one. Brilliant !!
  18. I really like the idea of 57 Ford side trim, I think Ill go with that. Thanks for the idea!!
  19. This is one cool build!! Great work.
  20. Id love one of these kits!! Looking good so far
  21. Thanks for your comments so far guys!! I'm trying to keep it looking more like a Ford than a Chev so I'm thinking Ill keep the Ford side trim rather than the 55 spears. Ill definitely be keeping the spinner in the front to keep its identity but it will be modified slightly .
  22. That is super cool. You've made a silk purse from a pigs ear out of that kit!! Great job
  23. Hello again guys. I've been a bit quiet with this one but I've got some progress pics to show where I'm at with it now. The 55 Chev headlights and taillights were any easy task, they flow with the 49 shape as though they were made for it!! The roof is from a 58 Chev but the rear glass will need modifying so the plan is to make it resemble the three piece rear glass from a 57 Buick. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.
  24. This is gonna turn out awesome. great work so far!!
