    Drag racers

Very cool Paul ,and I think even shinier than usual , wish I coulda made to the meeting.
  3. sanded off most of last nights putty, finding a few low spots to redo.Added some 1mm round stock to redo and finish off around the coves, have puttied around them for a smoother transition and have to knock them down a fair bit anyway, found a couple of errors on the right hand side, 1st the whole side was bowing out a little so have fixed that 2nd and the one I'm not to sure how to go about is at the end of the original front guard where the extension piece was placed (x marks the spot) its a little low well almost 1mm. The guard and extension both seem to have dipped, should I just bog it up? the cove lines all seemed to line up which is part of why I never caught it before.
  4. Thanks Richard, not to worry, this is the pioneer avenger's chassis, thought I might as well use it for mock ups while its sitting there Probably gonna use a swoopy long 3 hole cause its curvy like the body. Got the side on, this one didnt take long at all,put a thin smear of putty on most of the joints. will try to get to sand them tomorrow.
  5. Thanks guys, dunno about easy started on one side last night after staring at it for hours trying to work out where to make the cut then cut one side and slapped some bodytech filler (1:1)on it,set 2 bits of evergreen 4.8x2 together to make the wedges and called it a night. went out and sanded and sanded and sanded and thought bugger this and put the side back on needed to redo rear wheel arch (to much tyre exposed) now going back out to do the other side,at least its all ready to go straight back together
  6. you know it thanks guys, will do some more work tonight (NZ time)
  7. How would you expect to see a 60 vette in drag form? Gasser maybe? Modified sports/Production well I kinda liked the idea of a nostalgia bodied Fuel burning nitro funny car so............................... out came the saw some sheet stock and ruler all glued up tracks a little wide, measure up a wedge and cut it out then glue it back together not too bad for 4 hours work there was a bit of forward planning and a brief pm to 1320 wayne (as he's made heavily modified bodies before) on which were the best cuts to make first, but once things are glued back together I just swap back to another project for a while.
  8. wow thats nicely done, great job
  9. what !? theres only 7 doorcars 2 funny cars and the 51 merc (which hasnt been touched in a while admittedly )
  10. thanks again Richard, did the fuel pump and lines ,blower belt and a couple of other little bits on this one yesterday as well ever creeping closer to being done
  11. thanks Richard, 57 only needs a fuel cell and some decals for the other side of the car
  12. went into production line mode and made up fuel pumps for 5 of the current doorslammer projects working on trying to get 3 done today since the hood is staying on I'm calling this one done ..........for now at least new pics soon
  13. Not so much at the model (frustrated at times, usually glue sticking to me not the parts its supposed to be bonding), but angry for sure at the guy who sold me a :mint open but everything there" $ 50 early funnycar kit that's missing the windscreen and interior body supports not to mention the badly twisted body . I do have 2 more issues of the kit with aftermarket decals, so can copy and remake whats missing but thats not the point, he didnt know that.
  14. very cool
  15. coming along nicely, good to see you're still making progress
  16. thanks guys really appreciated. Built the fuel pump today 11 pieces in the pump and you cant see half of them rear end is done
  17. just that Lacquer thinner, any auto parts stores should have it, otherwise see if you can get a bit from a panel beater/paint shop. You need enough to thin your polish AND enough to clean your gun afterwards.
  18. Gerald, if you were talking to me the 51 is here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=35125 and the 49 is here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44526
  19. lacquer thinner , about 1:1 ratio. depends on how thin the nail polish is to start with
  20. Bench is a write off and there's still 2 cars missing but hers whats swapping trough it at the moment
  21. Yet another quicky, until it came time to check the decals (all the black has cracked, getting some microscale liquid decal film before I try to use any just in case)1st couple of pics are from last night rest I did this afternoon/evening (motor is just mocked up here), body was primed last night also. todays effort
  22. Thanks Chris,I really appreciate the offer but don't see much point. I've had 3 sets go west so far,so assume any others of that vintage will be the same. Cracked open and started the Tom Hoover' Pioneer funny car last night and those decals are toast as well( at least all the black parts). Have white decal paper ordered should be here early next week, just got to cut them out then (that will be fun ) But thanks for the offer and the encouragement guys, this one will get done soon.
