That turned out excellent! I haven't seen much of these new Top Fuel Dragsters being built so it's always nice to see one. Especially when it's done this well. Nice paint job and good work with those decals too. Sharp details on that engine finish it off. Good Job.

It's great to see that you're back on the bench again, Stan! This is an interesting project and it's always nice to see something different being built. I've watched these resin kits on Parts Box's webpage, but never ordered them. Maybe some day I will. Keep this coming.

Oh, looks like there was one that I would have known for sure but I was too slow. The best cover of that song is definitely made by The Go Getters. Though a short piece of the cover is played in the middle of their song "Mona". I've heard that song once in person and I can tell you that it sounds excellent as all of their songs do. Here it is... Resto-Mods & Modern Hot Rods
W-409 replied to afx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
To everyone's surprise, this Gas Monkey Garage thing came from Finnish TV also a while ago. I watched some of the episodes, but I didn't like the drama. Biggest problem though was just this - every time they built a modern or a Resto Mod car, my blood pressure got very high like in Jerry Lee Lewis' song. Of course it wasn't fun to see nice cars being ruined by modernizing them. Because of that same thing I don't like watching other car building TV programs either. They send another same kind of program in here as well, but it's much worse than those Gas Monkey guys' program. -
Weld Pro stars/ Drag lites
W-409 replied to Dragfreak's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Great to hear that your Drag Lites are narrower than the wheels in Pro Stock kits, Kris. I need a few sets of them for various projects, so I'll definitely order a few sets of them when I get some more money to spend... -
Very good looking Mercury Custom. These '49 Mercs are seen quite often so it's not easy to come up with something different. But with un-chopped top and those flames, this is definitely something different. Usually I'm not a fan of flat paint jobs on these things, but I think it works perfectly in here. Great job.

This was quite easy actually. That Trabant front end that is seen in the picture and the fact that this car had steering wheel on left side made me think it's German... And after figuring that out, I found it really easily.

I believe that .080" rod will be just fine. I used it on the cage of my '90 Mustang LX: This is looking very interesting! The modifications you've done look very nice and clean. I can't wait to see more of this.

Nice work as always Alan! Nice to see another Hemi Dart being built this well even if I'm a Chevy guy myself. Great job with those decals and sharp detailing under the hood is a nice touch. Actually only problem seems to be that fitment of the hood, but otherwise it can't get much better!

Maybe a bit wider wheels on front would work better? Now it looks like those rear wheels are pretty much wider than fronts so it would be possible to install a bit wider wheels on front too? It looks good without those as well, though.

Really? I can't believe that no one knew this one. Even my mother knew it after three seconds of reading those lyrics...Shame On You, fellas ! It's of course High School Confidential by Jerry Lee Lewis. Here's an excellent cover by 20th Flight Rockers:

Impressive work as always from you. The subject is not that interesting to me, but it's always very nice to see your builds as they're so nice and clean. This one is not an exception, fantastic work with that paint job. Flocking looks very realistic too. Keep it coming!

Okay I admit that I've been watching this thread but I've been completely clueless... Who knows this one? You better open up, honey It's your lover boy me that's a knockin' You better listen to me, sugar All the cats are at the High School rockin'

Trunk mounted turbo is a possibility, but I'd like to keep it under the hoo as there is some other stuff planned to go into the trunk. I've seen those trunk mounted turbos on 1:1 cars as well. I'll see if I can fit that under the hood though. Edit: Jason - Yep, go with the Poverty Caps. They look very good on that Ford!

Thanks for the kind words fellas! I ordered that Modelhaus taillight panel a couple of years ago as I was ordering some other stuff as well. Anyway I should have rebuilt the scratchbuilt taillightpanel that I did, because I'm not happy with it anymore. I could have done it, but this was easier and it was quite cheap part as well. And if a Moderator sees this thread, I hope he could move this to Drag Racing Models section, please. I don't know why this was originally posted in here.

1973 GTO Street Machine, Up on it's wheels! 6/2/18
W-409 replied to am73grand's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Wow! Nice to see a '73-'77 GM A-Body being built. Your builds are always very enjoyable so I can't wait to see more of this. Your modifications on grille area are looking really good, so keep it coming. -
Thanks Rob! When I started planning this Trabant, I was debating between a Pro Charger and a Turbo. Pro Charger would have been much cooler and I believe it would have been more interesting to me as well, but unfortunately I didn't have any of them available. In the past I have scratchbuilt those, but they don't look good enough I think so the only option would have been to order one of them as aftermarket part. That is otherwise a good idea, but now I really can't afford doing that, since all my money is going to the gas tank of my '87 Chevy Van (Daily driver) and / or to the parts for my '60 Impala that I'm rebuilding. And because of that I kind of had to go with that turbocharger. But... We all like challenges, right? Very nice work on those models, everyone! It looks like this is going to be a tough year when these all are on the starting line.

I completely forgot that I had posted this one in here... Well, I have to say that you guys haven't missed anything as I haven't been working on this one. Partly because I'm in progress of searching for parts for this build and partly because the work I've done years ago is not up to today's standards and I will have to rebuild some of the stuff that I've done so far. But the plan is to build this one anyway. So whenever it gets back on the bench, I'll let you guys know ! And of course, thanks for the comments!

In my opinion it's important to build a Drag Car that fits in a certain category, if possible. Usually it's actually quite easy if you don't have to replicate a real car. I'd suggest you building the Plymouth as Competition Eliminator car. In that class you can run with different style cars as they go in different sub-categories, for example Pro Mod style cars and then Stock suspension cars can be found in that class. Pretty much everything would fit in Competition Eliminator. Of course there are many different categories but Comp would be easy because you can run with pretty much everything there.

1/16 Scale Army Vega Funny Car - Finished 10/14/2018
W-409 replied to Mooneyzs's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
That transmission looks so good that I'm still debating if it's 1/16 or 1/1 scale. Fantastic work with those details - that blanket is something that's seen quite rarely in these builds. It's nice to see one done this well, and those bolts along with that clutch pedal finish the tranny off. Excellent work overall...Keep it coming! -
Mike: Heh - That's so true . Jonathan: Thanks! I thought that this could be a great Sleeper compared to the '57 Chevy I thought about at first. It would have been possible that the '57 didn't fool everyone... Tom: Thanks for the heads up! I was wondering about the same thing actually and was going to do a test fit soon. Now it is the next thing on my to do list. Thanks.

Thanks for looking fellas & Sorry that I forgot to post more pics. That LAPD Camaro would be a nice one to have on my stash as well. I have the box actually, but it includes the original issue of Jukebox Ford instead of that Camaro... Maybe some day. Next Pro Stock Bike. These two pics show a Finnish driver Jappe Malin driving his Pro Stock Bike. Unfortunately he had some issues with the bike and he got eliminated on the first elimination round. Then....Pro Stock: Junior Pastrana, Pontiac Grand Am VS Gary Herman, Chevrolet Beretta This is of course Bob Glidden behind the wheel of his Ford Probe Pro Stock. Darrel Alderman driving Dodge Daytona. He won the Championship. Bruce Allen, Chevy Beretta VS Tony Christian, Chevy Beretta. Christian made it to the Finals where he lost against Bob Glidden. Rickie Smith, Pontiac Firebird VS Mark Pawuk, Oldsmobile Cutlass: Scott Geoffrion, Oldsmobile Cutlass VS Warren Johnson, Oldsmobile Cutlass: Gordie Rivera, Chevy Beretta VS Joe Lepone Jr, Chevy Beretta:

Miller Warrior FLIP TOP full detail slot car
W-409 replied to Trans Am Erik's topic in Model Car Racing
This is a very cool Slot Car! It's nice to see that you've put a lot of work on detailing one of these, as usually these Slot Cars have no engine details / are curbsides. Nice work. -
Alright finally I was able to start my entry. It's the Small Block Chevy Powered Trabant that I mentioned on page 1 a while ago. And of course, I'm shooting for an original looking car with a SBC with a big turbocharger under the hood. Lots of cutting is needed in interior and chassis and engine bay, but I'm trying to make it look pretty much factory made. Here's the starting point: First thing was to find an engine for this. I had one glue bomb engine from AMT '66 Nova Pro Street so I thought it would be a good basis for this one. Turbocharger is taken from a Truck kit, so it should be big enough? Well, obviously the Small Block Chevy is a bit bigger than Trabant's original two stroke engine so I had to do some cutting to the chassis and interior floor first to make some room for the engine & tranny. I cut a hole on the firewall and to the floor, but this wasn't quite enough so I had to bend the firewall to 90 degree angle to allow some more engine room. Then it was time to see how the engine and turbo fit under the hood. Next part that needed some cutting was the part that comes under dashboard. This had to be cut a little to make room for valve covers, distributor and throttle body setup. Next I'll need to add a bit of styrene to cover the hole I just made on that part... And the last picture shows which tires I'll be using. I wanted a bit wider tires than those originals, but still so small ones that they would not give it away that the car is a Sleeper. Those tires are from AMT '76 Chevy Monza kit.
