  1. Another fine model from your bench John. That is definitely something unique and it's very interesting to see a "Clone The Past" model like this being built. Excellent job all over, the paint job is my favorite part.
  2. Okay here's one more. Looks like you guys don't listen much Rockabilly music since no one has known the ones I've posted. Now let's try it a bit different... Here are complete lyrics for this song, except that the name of the song is removed. So fill in the blank spots and you'll figure out the name of this song... Wherever I come bad luck is coming my way Wherever I go hard luck is there to stay If I say yes people laugh and say I'm mad If I say no they get furious and I get said Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF: ------------- They call me the ----------------- But I'm trying as hard as I can To keep bad luck away from me But I'm doomed to live a life filled with misery I took a trip to England on a ferryboat After a while it sank after being afloat Few years ago I went to holydays on Tenerife Leaving there people full of grief Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF I'm even worse than a tornado, whirlwind, hurricane Even my looks make ordinary people go insane When they put me away in a bunker of ferro-concrete My misery radiation made it crash completely Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF I took a trip to England on a ferryboat After a while it sank after being afloat Few years ago I went to holydays on Tenerife Leaving there people full of grief Goodluck never stays a day Bad luck's always coming my way REF
  3. Excellent post Skip! It's true that when these Factory Experimental classes came close to their end and Funny Cars were born, FX cars got wilder, and I've also read that many times they were not allowed to run in NHRA's FX classes. As a real Drag Racer myself, running in Stock Eliminator with very limited rules, I like to build models that would be NHRA Legal because I find it interesting to look closely on the old Rulebooks and try to build my models according to them... I think I will start my FX Chevy II from that Trumpeter kit when I get to it.
  4. I'm curios on this: Has anyone checked how much AMT has relocated the axles on this Chevy II kit? Because if I'm not mistaken, 1965 was the only year in FX when axle relocation was allowed. As seen on the rulebook: "AXLE RELOCATION: Axles may be relocated on FX cars a maximum of two (2) percent of the total wheelbase, per original stock location. This applies to either front or rear axle, or a combination of the two. Bodies must remain in their original production location. Wheelwells and fenders may be altered to permit installation and removal of wheels and tires but no portion of the tire may extend outside of the fender and/or body lines." So I'm interested to know if this kit could actually be built as a '65 Factory Experimental car without moving axles backwards. I know that I don't know how to count this, as I've never been good at it. Of course there would be still other modifications required, so maybe it would be easier anyway to start with the Trumpeter kit. (Yes, I've been planning to build a Factory Experimental Chevy II some day).
  5. Yep it's a sad video for sure. But as there seems to be no prepping done on that "Drag Strip", with cars like that you don't have to be a real genius to figure it out that it will be slippery, which of course means that the driver must be prepared to lift up the throttle when there's not enough traction on higher speeds. Especially because those Drag Slicks don't really work when moving sideways... I've couple of times went a bit sideways in slow speeds with the '74 Chevelle that runs in Stock Eliminator and I think it's very important to know when to lift up the throttle. In slow speeds it's not always necessary (With our car anyway), but when it starts sliding in higher speeds, it's important to lift the throttle. As a Drag Racer, I know that it's not always the thing you'll want to do, but I rather lift the throttle a bit, straighten up the car and step on it again than see this happen.
  6. Good looking Chevy II. These were really good looking cars built like this and your build proves it. Nice decal work and sharp engine details. I like that color as well. But this is not a Factory Experimental car at all. It's an early Funny Car / Match Race car as you said, but not Factory Experimental as the title says.
  7. Great job Ray! I wondered what happened to this in the Drag Racing Models section, but I'm glad to see it finished as it looks this great! Nice work on the modifications for sure (I could not do that to a '62 Impala ) and I like the paint too. Nice work.
  8. Very nice! Gotta love a base model car like this with a powerful engine and steel wheels with Dog Dishes! Tires look just perfect on there as well, they're just tall enough. Nice work overall with the conversion!
  9. That turned out excellent! I haven't seen much of these new Top Fuel Dragsters being built so it's always nice to see one. Especially when it's done this well. Nice paint job and good work with those decals too. Sharp details on that engine finish it off. Good Job.
  10. It's great to see that you're back on the bench again, Stan! This is an interesting project and it's always nice to see something different being built. I've watched these resin kits on Parts Box's webpage, but never ordered them. Maybe some day I will. Keep this coming.
  11. Oh, looks like there was one that I would have known for sure but I was too slow. The best cover of that song is definitely made by The Go Getters. Though a short piece of the cover is played in the middle of their song "Mona". I've heard that song once in person and I can tell you that it sounds excellent as all of their songs do. Here it is... Who Do You Love starts at 1:52 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GavzxF8JHGo
  12. To everyone's surprise, this Gas Monkey Garage thing came from Finnish TV also a while ago. I watched some of the episodes, but I didn't like the drama. Biggest problem though was just this - every time they built a modern or a Resto Mod car, my blood pressure got very high like in Jerry Lee Lewis' song. Of course it wasn't fun to see nice cars being ruined by modernizing them. Because of that same thing I don't like watching other car building TV programs either. They send another same kind of program in here as well, but it's much worse than those Gas Monkey guys' program.
  13. Great to hear that your Drag Lites are narrower than the wheels in Pro Stock kits, Kris. I need a few sets of them for various projects, so I'll definitely order a few sets of them when I get some more money to spend...
  14. Very good looking Mercury Custom. These '49 Mercs are seen quite often so it's not easy to come up with something different. But with un-chopped top and those flames, this is definitely something different. Usually I'm not a fan of flat paint jobs on these things, but I think it works perfectly in here. Great job.
  15. This was quite easy actually. That Trabant front end that is seen in the picture and the fact that this car had steering wheel on left side made me think it's German... And after figuring that out, I found it really easily.
  16. I believe that .080" rod will be just fine. I used it on the cage of my '90 Mustang LX: This is looking very interesting! The modifications you've done look very nice and clean. I can't wait to see more of this.
  17. Nice work as always Alan! Nice to see another Hemi Dart being built this well even if I'm a Chevy guy myself. Great job with those decals and sharp detailing under the hood is a nice touch. Actually only problem seems to be that fitment of the hood, but otherwise it can't get much better!
  18. Maybe a bit wider wheels on front would work better? Now it looks like those rear wheels are pretty much wider than fronts so it would be possible to install a bit wider wheels on front too? It looks good without those as well, though.
  19. Really? I can't believe that no one knew this one. Even my mother knew it after three seconds of reading those lyrics...Shame On You, fellas ! It's of course High School Confidential by Jerry Lee Lewis. Here's an excellent cover by 20th Flight Rockers:
  20. Impressive work as always from you. The subject is not that interesting to me, but it's always very nice to see your builds as they're so nice and clean. This one is not an exception, fantastic work with that paint job. Flocking looks very realistic too. Keep it coming!
  21. Okay I admit that I've been watching this thread but I've been completely clueless... Who knows this one? You better open up, honey It's your lover boy me that's a knockin' You better listen to me, sugar All the cats are at the High School rockin'
  22. Trunk mounted turbo is a possibility, but I'd like to keep it under the hoo as there is some other stuff planned to go into the trunk. I've seen those trunk mounted turbos on 1:1 cars as well. I'll see if I can fit that under the hood though. Edit: Jason - Yep, go with the Poverty Caps. They look very good on that Ford!
  23. Thanks for the kind words fellas! I ordered that Modelhaus taillight panel a couple of years ago as I was ordering some other stuff as well. Anyway I should have rebuilt the scratchbuilt taillightpanel that I did, because I'm not happy with it anymore. I could have done it, but this was easier and it was quite cheap part as well. And if a Moderator sees this thread, I hope he could move this to Drag Racing Models section, please. I don't know why this was originally posted in here.
  24. Wow! Nice to see a '73-'77 GM A-Body being built. Your builds are always very enjoyable so I can't wait to see more of this. Your modifications on grille area are looking really good, so keep it coming.
  25. Thanks Rob! When I started planning this Trabant, I was debating between a Pro Charger and a Turbo. Pro Charger would have been much cooler and I believe it would have been more interesting to me as well, but unfortunately I didn't have any of them available. In the past I have scratchbuilt those, but they don't look good enough I think so the only option would have been to order one of them as aftermarket part. That is otherwise a good idea, but now I really can't afford doing that, since all my money is going to the gas tank of my '87 Chevy Van (Daily driver) and / or to the parts for my '60 Impala that I'm rebuilding. And because of that I kind of had to go with that turbocharger. But... We all like challenges, right? Very nice work on those models, everyone! It looks like this is going to be a tough year when these all are on the starting line.
