  1. super glue and 5 min epoxy, Ill have post of it when I finally get to the project and list it under the big scale work in progress. I'm planning on using foam and mirrored poster board but may have to do a lot of build up around the edges, both ca and epoxie will do the trick.
  2. awesome progress, this thing is insane. all the creativity wow........cant wait to see it finished.
  3. a little update, got most of the linkage installed but realized that I should have painted the carbs and stacks first. oh well and I think i figured out the stuff to use for water after all the alternatives this should work, will have to work harder the next time to not have so many bubbles, a little are fine as aquariums have bubbles anyway.
  4. Christopher, those are amazing photos, you actually got to go where I have been wanting to go for years. Tenochtitlan I have been dieing to check out in person I love all those old pyramids and all of the artistry. It looks as if you had a blast performing, Thank you for sharing it gives me some new inspiration even thou I'm almost done with the build. I got some small figurines for the truck and trailer but was planning on using them for statues. Not sure about figures in 1/24th scale.
  5. I wish I could go to the DSC, some of my buds at the Albuquerque Scale Modelers always go but i never have the funds for the trip. Maybe one day I ll be able to make it. Not only that but this thing is far from ready , I was hoping to have it ready by June for a regional contest here in turkey town but way to much to finish on this thing yet.
  6. did another test and it worked really good, now to figure out what patterns to use.
  7. This im sure this has been done before but this is what im planning on using for one of my 1/16th scale 1951 kafer vw beetle. Im gonna make it a lowrider and want to make some crazy seats for it. This is what I want but probably will not be this crazy: this is what I have from a few shampoo bottles: these will be the seats, the bottom and the top, Ill build them up with more styrene that is the plan then add foam shaped like bottom tufted upholstery.
  8. not a good test piece, not liking how the paint seperates from the tape line, back to square 1 for paint ideas......
  9. Found something new to add to the truck, not sure where but will find a spot. Tried out some patterns, gold on the right and root beer on the left but its that fast dry laquer from testors, so it did not do well when I peeled it, will have to rethink the color now.......
  10. I have decided to start the 1/16th scale VW Kafer however I want to model a roof rack for it kind of like the one in the photo below, I was thinking evergreen but that may be too week as I want to fill it full of stuff, I thought brass but my soldering skills suck, any ideas?
  11. Thanks David and Danno, working on the linkages and after looking at the pic i can see i have to sand the strip down as the piece of strip plastic i have was way to wide, a few hits with an emery board should do it, and at my age I can tell I need a magnifier as my eyes are crossed bad, I want to detail the engine out totally but may regret it due to the complexity of all the work involved......
  12. Having a real hard time deciding what color or colors to paint this thing........................out of all of them i keep coming back to the lime green as it will be better for the ghost effect graphics but i think it will not compliment the painted foam pieces enough, ill have to keep mulling over the possibilities......
  13. I am finally working on the stromberg carbs as I just found a part I had been looking for a month now, so i can get the linkage and fuel lines installed.
  14. I actually mocked it up with lake pipes. It looked pretty good, and speaking of hyroglifics thats whats up on deck for my Egyptian raider build that i have in the works as welll, not sure if this one will have lake pipes but they do look cool on it...
  15. Thanks David, its my followers and comments like yours that keep me going to finish these things...........
  16. Thanks Jake, Finally got a brake light and headlight set up, the tail lights not sure if the tan "resin" part will be painted to look like stone or ill just alclad it then glue to truck and trailer and the headlights will be integrated into the front bumper "hands", that will actually be free standing in what the Aztecs used to use in battle, they would strap these things to their back as a show of force for battle, ill paint it just like they used to have them and add a headlight lens in the center piece that is indented, then apoxie that to the bumper where the hand is.
  17. I'm very anxious to finish this build I have reached the point that I want to get it to the finish line. Getting close, working on the ladders as some of the paint is drying......\
  18. picked this one up friday, upon opening the box had to order another as it is very well thought out.... and had to pick up another one of these, very awesome kit...... and won this at my lhc meeting today....
  19. Thanks guys, thats a cool jeep you did, kinda makes me want to build it stock, may have to pickup another kit and build one stock, little update as im trying to get the aztec warrior build done, got the body front ready, now trying to figure out a good way to drop the body and raise the frame.......
  20. Thanks David. ITS PAINT TIME!!! yeah, doing final last minute body work to finally get this thing in paint just doing the spoon test to see what color combo to do it in.
  21. I tried a sample of the sharpie and a design I had in mind, a real quick layout it needs some cleaning up, kinda like how it turned out actually, will have to redo on a silver base so I can make it a ghost pattern. I plan laying several layers of candy color over top of it so will see how it comes out......
  22. craft store hook ups dear ole hobby lobby....
