"No side view mirrors?"
jw78z28 replied to modelmike's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My 67 impala had rearview mirror on the drivers side only. It was round. don't have any pics of it. -
picked up a few over the past week. 1st. score was four Aurora racing scenes kits. got the vega body still in box, 417 don. blown still in box, funny car chassis still in box and a set or drivers still in box. All 4 kits are complete and never started. 2nd. was the new Fujimi tools 2 kit. very cool kit. I will be placing an order for set #1 as soon as I can get some money saved up so I can order a few of them. only thing I don't like about set #2 is that the books are molded into the bookshelf. 3rd. was the old barn plans book.

I'm not a big fan of members entering there own contest. I go to a few shows a year, some of the shows allow members to enter some don't. It sucks when you drive 2 hours one way to watch the club members win. I went to a show in KY. two years ago it was the first year for the show, I forget what show it was. So I packed up about 10 models that where built within the last year and made the 2 hour drive in my 78 Z28 with 4:10 gears. when I got there I set all my builds up and started to look at some of the other builds on the table and fig. it would be a good day for me, wrong. It really sucks when you get beat by a car that was built 5 years prior to the show and still had about 2 years of shelf dust on it. I pretty sure 95% of the awards went to members. Never went to that show again. I don't expect to win everytime I go to a show but it makes it nice. Sometimes I like to lose so I can look at the winners car and see where I went wrong or what I need to improve on.

Thanks Erik. I've never ordered anything from Japan so I wanted to check around about this before placing order. -
import fees or taxes
jw78z28 replied to jw78z28's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's from a store so I'm sure they will not mark it as gift. -
does anybody know what the fees are for items imported from Japan to ohio. I what to kit a few kits from a supplier in Japan, but I wanted to get an ideal on how much the import fees would be before i placed my order. total value would be around 60.00 for 2 kits or 120.00 for 4 kits. tryed to look up on usps web site but no luck. Thanks.

jw78z28 replied to jw78z28's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the link to the post on this kit Casey. after seeing what the sealed one sold for I feel a little better about paying 25 bucks for it, but I knew I had to have it when I seen it sitting there. got to love fle markets. -
He has some good stuff. I built his funny car bug the bug zapper very nice kit very little clean up needed. I didn't order mine on the web I got it at a swap meet from him years ago. I've seen his kits on ebay sometimes.

att. Revell... 1/16 drag racing modelers need your attention!
jw78z28 replied to Decal Art's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
I would settle for a plane jane box. The post cards pics sure are nice but just not that important to me, but it would be super cool if you could do a post card pic from one of the racers own stash of vintage photos. Thanks for taking the time to share your info with us Art. I hope this stuff can be worked out -

you sould try sending your post to Don Prudhomme Snake racing on facebook. He has been posting a lot of cool pics of the old drag cars he also has some cool pics of his old funny cars and haulers. I have hinted to him about makeing the trucks and funny cars in a 1/24 1/25 model. I wish they would re pop some of these kits also I have a few but for what I had to pay for them I'm just not ready to build them -
Edsel-Dan, I know what you mean about the frames. I had to combine the billy carter truck and the midnight cowboy in order to get one good frame and suspension set up. Both kits where factory sealed but both kits had a lot of warped parts. I'm still trying to fix the warped roof on the billy carter cab and fill in the big hole. one day I have to get it back out. Wish somebody would just do a new tool for a roll back.
