Rude remarks made at model shows
jw78z28 replied to junkman1153's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's sad to hear. i wouldnt even say anything like that to someone in my age group let alone a kid. Im just glad that when i started it this hobby i found people that where willing to help. like my dad he got me into the hobby around the age of 10 or 11, he would help me build them box stock. there use to be a shop called all aboard hobbies it was about 4 miles from my house i would take my finished kit and carefully put it in a bag and ride my bike to the shop so i could show it to the owner of the shop. that shop held one of the first shows I ever entered, my 56 took first my custom mako shark corvette took sec. place. in the under 17 class. If the owner of this shop had been like the first post i dont think i would have got into the hobby like i did this was the shop that turned me on to the aftermarket parts people, shows, swap meets and clubs. I always enjoyed showing my models to friends and family. -

I got a 78-79 camaro body from them. I think last year or so, got it threw an ebay sale. i think it was shipped in a fare time frame. I liked what i got. see no major flaws i have not started this project yet so i cant give anymore details. -

Packaging for mailing
jw78z28 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
everyone's on the right path about over sized box, but please people bag the glass or rap it with something, i hate when i get a kit and the seller places glass on the very bottom them adds the rest of the parts on top of it. -
Scratchbuilding vs. Kitbashing
jw78z28 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will always list , at shows, what was scratch built, and what was robbed from other kits and what parts where aftermarket. if i can remember But i think we all need to remember model building is about having fun and build what ever makes you happy that's just my thought. -
went to Meijer's today and found some school boxes for $0.50 each there 8 in. long 5in. wide 2in high grate for storage of tools or parts. they had some with clear lids, pink, green and blue. just thought i would pass that along. i was going to post pic. but well i wont go there. can we make loading pics dummie proof, i can fix or build just about anything but im lost when it comes to the computer.

I would like to start machining my own parts. I would like to get a mill/lathe combo. I mostly build 1/24 1/25, but i do have some 1/16 1/12 1/8 scale kits i would like to build once i get things figured out on machining parts. who has the best setup to start with that's easy to learn on? and has a fair price. is there a web site, besides fee-bay, that sells used one's? thanks

over 350 unbuilt maybe 25 started then put away for another day lost count of the parts kits
