  1. Oooh, I just gotta find me one of those '''27Model As"!
  2. Could be more of an issue of back then, it was free advertising for the license holder, but now it's more of a if you want to use our product name/image, you're going to have to pay us.
  3. Just to throw this out there, the same grille, along with the bed I mentioned, can also be used to build a '55 First Series Chevrolet truck. They are for the most part, identical to the 54s, with only a few minor detail changes. Also, for anyone wanting to build a replica stock '54/'55 first, you will want to use the steering wheel from the AMT '55 Cameo/Stepside instead of the one from the '50.
  4. That was my thoughts, that it's from the Meister Brau pulling tractor. The Arias is basically a hemi conversion for a Big Block Chevy. Originally intended for drag racing, they went on to be very popular with the pulling crowd and boat racers. There's a history of the company here. http://nickariasjr.com/about-us.asp
  5. There's a way to save yourself a bit of work with the bed, use the bed from the AMT '55/'57 Stepside kit. The bed, other than the fenders, is correct for a '54-'87 Stepside.
  6. Valid points. I'm just being Equal Opportunity. I'm sure that all the manufactures let things like that slide, or in this case, the supplier got away with it with one company, and went ahead an passed it on to everyone they supply. I don't buy in to the whole ISO compliancy bit either.
  7. Same here. Guess that's why I don't own any car/truck made after 1985.
  8. Not necessarily a GM problem in this case. I see just about as many Ford products of the same vintage with that problem, mostly the Taurus/Sable. With GMs, Buicks and Pontiacs seem to the most common offenders. Almost always a rear line. Perhaps a supplier issue?
  9. Exactly. In Downstate Illinois, we even still have a few tracks that not only have a dirt stock car track, but also are still running harness racing as well. Farmer City comes to mind, with the harness track on the inside if the stock car track.
  10. They go together without any issues. Most of the cab parts from any of the AMT C1500 kits are a direct swap, and the cabs will swap with the beds. This one isn't quite done yet, I'm in the process of putting a partially detailed underhood in it, top half of the engine, master cylinder, etc. I'm leaving the frame as is. All the parts from the 454SS kit fit right in.
  11. Just out of curiosity, since Ralph Nader was brought up; How many on here has read Unsafe At Any Speed? If you haven't, it's an interesting read. Some of it is a bit of bunk, even somewhat amusing at times. There is plenty in there that has merit, though.
  12. Mine is like that, too. You really need to shake up/knead the tube before you use it. I've seen the larger tubes do the same thing.
  13. http://www.gmheritagecenter.com/docs/gm-heritage-archive/vehicle-information-kits/Chevrolet/1959-Chevrolet.pdf Check on page 86 for the dimensions.
  14. That's why I said "partially". Had she been sober, perhaps she could have reacted to prevent a fatal accident.
  15. You got that right!
  16. At least one of those was partially caused by the driver being intoxicated, I recall is was about twice the limit, on top of being an inexperienced driver.
  17. They have competition http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/06/05/craig-breedlove-laying-plans-for-new-land-speed-record-attempt/
  18. I wouldn't be surprised if those switched weren't sourced from the same supplier. Not saying they were, just that it is a possibility. It's somewhat like the Toyota unintended acceleration issue. It's not common knowledge, but Ford and Honda both had recalls for the same problem (the numbers were much lower, and the Fords were mostly European export models), with the parts having been sourced from the same company Toyota had got theirs from.
  19. I have the original landscaping set, it does not have a lawn mower in it. I does seem that they have issued a second landscaping kits, but while it does have some power equipment in it (edger, leaf blower, weed wacker), it does not have a mower in it either.
  20. Another source are die casts from Scale Models and Liberty. Both have made trucks that came with push mowers (John Deere and Craftsman), and I know of at least one release that came with a vintage john Deere lawn tractor.
  21. That's not unusual for a MoPar to not start when it's damp out.
  22. The Revell kit (formerly Monogram) is 1/25 scale. The AMT body fits right on it, the side rails are an exact fit. The only issue I see is that the Revell frame is a bit shorter at the rear, and may leave a gap. I did not fit it with an interior in place, I'll re try it with an interior and try to get some pix up, too.
  23. No offence, but I see just as many idiots in 18 wheelers, and not just guys driving for training companies either.
  24. You're going to make get it out and check, aren't you?
