  1. Just picked up one today. If you can give me a little bit, I'll get some more pix.
  2. If Sams Club still have any Scorchers left, they're most likely old stock, BF Goodrich quit making them at least 10 years ago. They are not in the current catalog, and were never really a good seller to begin with.
  3. I'll agree with you there, Art. For the record, I do have clear varnished oak with stainless skid strips in the bed floor of my '55 Chevy Stepside. However, I did it because I like how it looks, not because it's "correct", which it isn't. The correct floor for a Chevy/GMC of the era would be white pine with a flat black finish.
  4. Do the rear doors open, too? Or just the front?
  5. This is what an 8N looks like. This is the current condition of my 8N (an early '48 model) that's currently under restoration after being in my possession since 1982.
  6. That's the one issue of that kit I never picked up. I didn't know that they did any of the kits from that series molded in color, I have both the LRE and the Scout from that line, both were molded in gray.
  7. The one I posted is part #801, which is the 2 part version. Here's the link to Bondo http://bondo.com/products/automotive/body-filler/bondo-professional-glazing-spot-putty-801.html. The second tube for the catylist is packaged behind the larger tube in the newer packaging.
  8. Just out of curiosity, where did you find that kit molded in purple???? I've only seen it molded in gray or light tan.
  9. The tires were never actually "white". They were actually a light tan/buff color when new, similar to the sidewalls on a 10 speed bicycle. Photography from the era tended to make the tires appear to be white in pictures, plus as the tires aged, they would bleach out to a white color over time.
  10. Should have been a little clearer, I meant an El Camino SS, rather than the SS sedan.
  11. How 'bout that. You're certainly not missing anything, the town has really gone downhill since the '90s. We don't even have good hobby shop anymore (Wilsons closed in the early '80s, and Blacks Hardware got out of hobbies in the '90, before they went under in the early '00s). Closest we have now is Slot & Wing over in Champaign.
  12. The only thing that might a fly in the ointment to that is that Chevrolet is bringing out a new version of the Colorado (the replacement for S10/Sonoma), oddly enough, also based on the Australian Holden version. Might not see a base model Elky because of that. The SS on the other hand, might just see production.
  13. Bondo 801 Professional Glazing and Spot Putty. This is a 2 part putty, fast to work with and will not shrink like one part putties. It's available at the FLAPS for around $6 or so.
  14. The last 8Ns were built in '52. Technically, the Jubilee tractors are '53 only, coinciding with Ford "Golden Jubilee" 50th anniversary. What you looks to be a 600 Series, introduced in '54.
  15. Not really. The fenders are completely different in size and shape, only sharing some styling cues. One could make the duallie syle fenders using Stepside fenders, but they would need to be shortened, narrowed, and sectioned to make them correct.
  16. COT= Car Of Tomorrow, which was what the previous generation of Nascar race cars were called.
  17. You might check with Chief Joseph http://www.fireballmodels.info/fmr-021-24.htm. I haven't seen his tires in person, but from what I see in the pics compared to the Radial T/As in the kits and to the 1:1 radial T/As that we sell at the shop I work at, his look spot on.
  18. As Art mentioned, most of them have been reissued several times, and many of them have been reissued within the last 5 years. With the Revells, the '29 Pickup and the '31 Sedan are currently available, with the Sedan being recently reissued. I'm pretty sure that the Monogram Woodie with the '32 grille is still current, and the Monogram '30 Coupe was recently reissued and shouldn't be too hard to find.
  19. There's also a '31 sedan and a '31 Woodie from Revell, a '28 Roadster and Roadster pickup/Woodie from AMT.
  20. I spotted it right away, but then again, this is my daily driver
  21. I'll add my vote there, too.
  22. A bit, yes. If I'm not mistaken, it's one that Foose did. I also notice that the bumper is tucked in closer to the body, much easier to do with the bumper flipped. Looks like the reshaped the ends to make them flow with the fender openings, the stock bumpers, while having a reversed angle, have a more curved end. I guess to my eye, the bumper mounted that way looks odd.
