  1. The spare wheel is 5 lug also. The 6 lug wheels would be the correct ones for that application, the 5 lug are for 2wd.
  2. I'm going to make a mount for it so it'll be able to be monted on the front bed panel, about an inch or so above the bed itself.
  3. Absolutely. I won't disagree with you or Johnny at all on this. It's a combination of things that justs add up to race finishes like this. I should mention, I didn't actually get to see the race live (working) but heard about it when I got home. The link posted earlier in this thread was the first time I saw the footage. That first lap really looked like they would pull it off without incident. Even most the last lap looked good. And then it all turned to, well, you know. Not the first time we've seen something like this, certainly won't be the last.
  4. I beleive that some of the "I'll do anything it takes to win" attitude can be blamed as much on the Green-White-Checkers rule as much or possibly even more than restrictor plates. There's been avoidable accidents on non-restrictor plate races caused by that driving attitude combined with a G-W-C finish. Not saying you're wrong, far from it, only that there's other contributing factors. My personal take is that instead of G-W-C, there needs to be at least 4 laps of Green, plus the White flag, to give the feild a chance to settle in, and to keep those drivers whe just "have to win no matter what" a chance to cool their jets and not do something stupid. Daytona and Talledega are the obvious places to do that type finish at, but also on the short tracks, where a G-W_c finsih isn't even enough racing to make it worthwhile to do it that way.
  5. Oh, and as far as what I got today; No model related stuff, but I did get the Hollywood Accessories No. 544 Safty Lite I won on Ebay earlier in the week. For those not familiar with them, it's an old school 3rd brake light from the '40s/'50s. About 14" wide and 3" tall, and says "S T O P" when lit up. I plan on mounting it to the front bed panel of my '55 Chevy pickup.
  6. I made a point to pick those up whenever I saw them, especially the truck tires. Glad I did.
  7. That's how the HiLux and 4Runner are. I'm actually planning to build my second 4Runner with the stock suspension, and simply put a set of stock size tires from my Satco stash on it.
  8. If the lifted one shown is anything like the lifted standard cab HiLux and 4Runner kits, the stock suspension is included.
  9. You also have to consider the fact that both of her teammates are a couple of the heaviest drivers out there as well.
  10. The distributor drive gears, shaft, and the rotor are not present in the recent issue. The starter drive and the original trand hosing are also not present, replcaced with the hand crank parts. Otherwise, the balance of the parts appear to be the same as the older issue, and the parts should interchange. That's what I have in mind for mine. I had one when I was a kid, and like Micheal, I managed to blow mine up, too. I still have it, and plan to scavenge the needed parts to swap in to the newer issue kit, with the exeption of using leds for the "spark plugs" instead of the little red incandecent lamps that came with it.
  11. Wideside and Fenderside were GMCs, Jeeps were Townside and Thriftside.
  12. That one is the same engine found in the Miss Deal Studebaker, only with a different intake, the prop drive for the boat, and it doesn't have the separate rocker shafts that go on the heads that the Miss Deal has. Either one is a very nice rendition of the 392.
  13. Fleetside option? I don't think having an option to build it as a Chevrolet is going to work.
  14. Ok. Ok. I made an error. Got Ganassi and Gillette mixed up. However, before the merger, Ganassi DID use Dodges.
  15. Can't really see RCR leaving Chevrolet, they've had far too much success with them over the years. As far as pecking order, I would count Hendrick and S/H as one team, as they are sharing pretty much everything, with RCR in second. One thing I could see happening (and this was mentioned on some of the sites) is Ganassi going to Dodge, considering that the roots of that team (Evernham) is where Dodge started when they came back to Nascar.
  16. A stock 392 is a no brainer, the Mobeus 300. For a drag version, my vote would go for any of the Revell '41 Willys (new tool) kits or the Miss Deal Studebaker.
  17. Sure it is, there's several Chevy SS's on the track right now!
  18. Re reading some of the earlier posts, the '55 and '56 Cameo didn't have any bed trim, the bed trim was '57/'58 only.
  19. The GMC version is very rare, only about 1000 or so were built over the 5 year run, compared to over 5000 Cameos that were built just in '55, which was a short production year. Unlike Chevrolet, though, GMC continued to offer the Suburban/Town and Country after the Wideside (Fleetside) bed was introduced in mid '58.
  20. The Petty hauler, which later became the Snake hauler, is a '67.
  21. I beleive you actually mean the Town and Country Runabout (early) or Suburban (late). It was never called a Carryall. Only the trucks with the V8 option had Pontiac engines, the 6 cylinder trucks used GMCs own inline 6. No kit is available, but Shawn Carpenter has a resin conversion for '55 and '57.
  22. Somewhat back on topic, something I've been wondering about the width discrepancy from the earlier Deuce kits and the Rat Roaster, what did Revell base the dimensions on for the earlier kits? There was a mention about fiberglas bodies used on 1:1 '32s, and a speculation that the Rat Roaster may have been one. Since we know that it is a Brookville body, which are supposed to be dimensionally identical to the originals, could it be that the earlier '32 kits were measured from a fiberglas or steel repop body that was not dimensionally accurate to a genuine '32? Off topic, Studebaker 4 bolt rocker covers will fit on the '87-'99 Chevy Smallblock heads.
  23. Not so fast! I have both the Van and Truck custom parts kits, and both of them had those tires in them .
  24. I always sand my primer, too. The only time I had a problem with paint adheasion was the one time that I didn't sand the primer.
  25. You're right about the depth on those 8 lug wheels. However, on late '50s and early '60s GM 3/4 and 1 ton trucks, there was a 19.5" single peice wheel option for single wheel trucks. So the Dodge wheel, while not exactly being the right style or width, isn't too far off as far as diameter goes.
