Monogram's 29 Model A roadster Pickup
RodBurNeR replied to Pete L.'s topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you! I got the paint as close to the original plastic color (one of two that I know of) by using Dupli Color GM Blue engine enamel. I used an Early Iron issue Monogram kit molded in yellow. I got the front rims from Dave Neighbors a local friend. The front tires are from a Monogram '59 Impala and I made the center larger and removed the rib so they would fit (just like the old ones but newer tooling) I got the kit from Dave Fletcher an internet friend. I had a junk Boss A Bone pile in my parts box, which is where I got the firewall, seats and rollbar. I used Li'l Coffin rear wheels and the spinners on all 4 wheels came from a Boss A Bone. The scuba gear was given to me by my friend Craig Turner and is made by Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland (it's resin). The surf board was from an AMT '64 Mercury Marauder. The red scallop on the board is actually a fender decal that I cut in two to replicate that on the box. The wood in the bed was a sheet of wood decal that I cut into strips and I don't know who made it sorry. The only thing that is incorrect about it is the valve covers which came from an AMT '59 El Camino. They are supposed to be Cadillac, but the ones I had have the wrong script and slight design difference. The intake and carbs is from my parts box and is the right one , but might be from a different Monogram kit. Here is the link to all photos. I hope this helps, it's much cheaper if you have good friends, spare parts and a few bucks. At the time I was looking to build one, they were going for $50 glued builts and $150 for unbuilt. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/finished-models/fomoco/blue-beetle-clone/ -

The last post was in 2008. There were multiple posts about his passing right here on MCM as well...across the internet modeling boards. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=15092&st=0&p=127947&hl=bob%20paeth%20rip&fromsearch=1&#entry127947 Bob Paeth will always be missed.

ebay Jo-Han POLICE PURSUIT CAR
RodBurNeR replied to tuffone20's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's a $45 kit at the most I think. If you think that's bad, look at the others on ebay for $400 and higher! I don't know who these guys are, but it's just irritating to even see those prices. If you browse enough you will see some glue bombs for 200bucks. Above the ordinary prices on model kits is not much different from seeing those stupid prices at the gas pumps...someone is getting a good deal, and it's not you. Either the seller paid way too much for them or they are looking at "price guides". -

I use the Purple stuff to strip most of my paints and the chrome from old bumpers to get them replated. Here is a photo tutorial I did awhile back if you want to check it out. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/1/my-tips--tricks-and/stripping-old-chrome/

Nice stash Andy Martin! That's what I call vintage. I have maybe twice this many, but no boxes to them and some others not in this photo. -
Chopped '34 Ford Coupe and '34 Ford PU Chopped
RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
You need an AMT '34 Coupe for the coupe and a Lindberg '34 PU for the PU. They are nice, I have many of his offerings. -
You can find gold on the BMF site. Nobody else makes anything like that. Other choices would be to find someone with an ALPS MD5000 printer or a Roland printer that can print metallics and foils. That option is not cheap. Otherwise....I would just mask and shoot paint if it was me. Good luck. http://www.bare-metal.com/Experts-Choice-Decal-Film.html

At first....I was thinking "ho-hum rat rod"...not to be insulting, but that was my first impression. After scrolling down and seeing more photos and then to see the real one in The Rodders Journal....I got surprised! I think you did a very nice job replicating that puppy! Congrats on your MOM and thanks for showing the link,I will check out the forum.

NEW Chopped '37 Chevy
RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
could be your resolution/screen size? also could be the resized photo that fotki sets automatically. I have no problems with the body here in person. -
I love the wheel choice, cool rod!

You are welcome Tom! Did anyone else take photos? I was unaware because I was running around so much. I know Ellis Kendrick took a bunch , waiting for him to load them on fotki.

Well the show went pretty well! There were a lot of new faces and the place was pretty crowded, in fact more crowded than I remember it being in the last 3 years I have done this. I apologize for the quality of the photos, I was shooting quickly and some are not that great. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc/1/2/2/2010/dp-nnl-2-february-2/
