  1. true, now what glass does it take? almost looks like a Mustang windsheild would fit? or clear acetate would be easy to cut also.
  2. awesome subject! now how hard would it be to get a rag top option? I had a good hand in restoring this one from a horrible softball hailed and grass floored heap! I have always wanted to build one in scale. still needs headlight rings, the blue oval was to make it feel comfortable with the others, which I also helped restore.
  3. welcome, looks like you have the old school rod and kustom style. I like that....a lot!
  4. That's a good price, I like it a lot more than the Starliner Coupe body. I know the cast is nice because I know your work and Ed's.
  5. I guess I am a whiner. I guess I just don't like this forum. Puh-lease! Check my signature. Stating simple facts on how to SOLVE the problem is NOT whining. I suggest you take them CAPS and your ego to another "sandbox" if you don't like people speaking their minds about how disrespectful it is to treat the MODEL CARS forum as a place to spew your horse hockey when the majority come here for "plastic model cars".... In regards to my posts....I have done nothing but defend this forum and people are flipping out because we are fighting to keep this place's integrity UP and not down due to a bunch of horse hockey! Take a breath....read what is being said instead of blowing up at the wind! Sorry, but you start telling me what to do like that....I will speak up. I have shown everyone respect here, so I do expect the same in return.
  6. You just added to it by replying and by your post it looks like you are upset.....but I'm not. As for me, I am not wasting anymore time on this subject.
  7. Food for thought..... If you have an "off topic" section dedicated to the issue.....don't you think people will take advantage of that and post things that are even worse? General already is kind of an off topic area, but more for "modeling talk". Then you have the rant and rave section which is also off topic, but should be all about "modeling woes and kudos".....then you have Where's waldo and that's off topic too....there are no lines....no fences...do you see what I am saying? I am not trying to bash anyone or the forum, I just think that it's a GREAT forum and would be even better if we could consolidate some of the sections and eleviate all of the problems. In case anyone has not noticed, these threads keep getting locked and more keep getting made....so obviously there is no rest.
  8. I think it's a very interesting combination of parts and style, not fond of the wheels personally though. I was hoping you might post more pics of the grille area? From the photo angles you posted, it's really hard to see how it looks and how you shaped that part.
  9. I can imagine how tired Harry is of this non-stop problem. I appologize in advance. I just have to say what I think the problem is and I have tried to "explain" this and offer my assistance. The REAL problem here is the majority of members check the "General" section FIRST. They , like myself just KNOW there is going to be some off topic drama and yes it's entertaining because so many people air their laundry....it's addicting to check and see what moronic stuff is posted. Sorry ,but I feel that's what the problem is. We need to do away with access to this opportunity. If you don't have the chance to make posts that are not acceptable or just plain off topic....then the problem is gone! I say the only solution is to take the opportunity away and change a few things to make it more enjoyable and add some simple structure to keep everyone on topic. Unless this is done.....this will never stop. No disrespect to Gregg or Harry, but if you don't listen to these words....you will continue to deal with this problem, stressing yourselves out handling the SOS everyday and not concentrating on what's more important.
  10. some shots together....black roof is the Revell/Monogram I switched hoods so you can see the Revell hood falls through the AMT body. By the way, the front of the hoods are not even shaped the same, to make a switch either way you will have to add or remove plastic and reshape the hoods and cowl.
  11. none of the parts interchange, it's like the Revell is a 1/24 or something and the proportions are different all over the place. Revell seems wider and lower than the AMT...nothing works from one to the other. You might get the tail lights to fit but you have to cut them apart and make the holes larger.
  12. Nice comparison! I had a Revell and got rid of it after figuring out that I didn't really want to build it. (nothing against Revell) Much later on, I got an AMT built up that needs some love and I actually liked it better. I have yet to finish fixing mine there are glue sink marks and a busted cowl. I did get the bumpers rechromed and everything is nice except for the body work that needs done. I also like the AMT chrome better, the Revell looks too "toyish". This pic is kinda old and before I did anything to do it. EDIT: just looked at album date... started 3 years and 11months ago! Time flies!
  13. I didn't build the car...I don't build stock. I edited the post with larger fonts so you can read the builder's name. Just showed a photo of one built for example, never said the man and woman came with it. Also....I would not build a car with windows missing. Not a bash at all though, it's still a very nice build.
  14. I just prefer not to build them. I have had some and got rid of them because the seems didn't line up and I think they were 1/32 scale. Thought a little more on it...the kit is pretty rare, he might get good money for it. I was just stating what it would be worth to me is all. Just offered some insight....I see people asking price/value on old kits all the time. To me this hobby is not about value of the stuff we buid, it's actually building it and using it. Don't get me wrong, I would love to have a bunch of mint vintage kits that some guys have, but I would just go nuts staring at the boxes and would end up selling them because I didn't have time to build them. To each his own....
  15. You live around Columbia Falls area? I lived there, Kallispell, Polson during the early 80's. Anytime you ask what something is worth, you will get people like me who will say "build it, worth nothing sitting in the box" "won't be worth anything we you are gone, so enjoy it"....that's how I am. You will also get guys who know they can't afford to buy it no matter how low the price and they will suggest ridiculous prices as high as the price guides that were made. Then you have guys that will tell you it's worth what someone will pay or the going rates of online auctions. My suggestion is to decide if you want to keep and build or sell or trade it. If you want to sell it, I don't blame you to take the highest bids.....but I wouldn't count on getting big money. (yet , you may get lucky) The price of that kit "built" sells for around $30 or less on most days, unbuilt condition it might be worth more to some guys...but if it was offered to me it's not worth more than $50 because it's multi piece body. (would rather buy resin kit that has body together) The box is neat, that is the biggest thing that grabs people, is the box art and the kit is complete? There are a lot of guys in this hobby that would buy it just for the box and being complete because they figure it's their investment for retirement.....good luck I say! Here is how it looks built, pretty dang nice build it makes with the right skills and amount of patience. built by Mike Kollver *edit font size*
  16. So you mean he is not selling to you anymore and is selling himself again?
  17. Alyn, don't worry about my expectations.....you surpassed them already! The attention to detail you put in, well worth the watch! It was good to see you again too, I hope you can make my show in February again!
  18. ok I was gonna flip! that would be some serious detail on 1/25. thanks
  19. Drew, is that fitting on a plastic 1/25 model? If so , that is amazing detail! I like this thread, I always have room to learn.
  20. I don't see any reason to be mad at Harry, it's not like he has it out for anyone here. Harry is doing his job which I am sure he hates to do. I don't know what happened and I don't care, but if people can't be mature and respect everyone else by leaving the drama outside of the forum then they should just leave. This comes back to the other post about OFF TOPIC stuff I was replying to. It seems like everyday I come here there is more drama, if not just a few times a week which is ridiculous! Harry and Gregg are much more patient than I am. I own and run 2 forums and am adopting one out due to time constrictions. I also run and own some yahoo groups. I deal with hundreds of different personalities every single day. It's not an easy job. I treat everyone equally. I don't however have much tolerance for repetative idiocy that is obviously out of range and disrespectful to myself or the community I am in. I am saying...you can only put up with the same disregard to your job so many times and then it's over... Whoever this is about.....respect Harry's job and this forum or leave, simple as that. Maybe the troublemakers can join up with the other forums that are inhabited by morons. (not name calling, just how it is) Harry I don't blame you a bit for letting it out, do what ya gotta do.....the only people that would be upset are the few who contribute the same garbage.
  21. yep! The nice thing is you can use the tip of the blade too. The tip has teeth as well and can be used to go around corners either square or rounded.
  22. after seeing Alyn's work in person and up close more than once, I can tell you that it's gonna be very nice done!
  23. ok thanks. I don't mind if it has both or more in it....just hoping Hudson can be built stock, so it can be kustomized at least. thanks for answering.
  24. thanks for keeping the photos coming, looking good out there! now I hope the Hudson and Chrysler are not manufactured as NASCAR kits....I mean I hope they leave the options there so it can be built anyways we see fit. s'up with the Revell '57 Cadillac? I think it says 1/25 on the box.....is that multi pc body?
