Dave, yep that's the one! I have it tucked away for now hehe! Jairus, that would be cool! I took them in Sepia and have one in black and white. There are several more angles and such too. -

Congrats on 10 years, Gregg!
RodBurNeR replied to Dave Darby's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I already replied once and deleted it....reluctant to spew my own feelings.....BUT I think I will just say what I have on my mind for the 10th anniversary. I only started taking photos in July 2007, I am still learning and have goals set for myself to be even better so I can represent MCM to the fullest. This magazine has been my favorite since I saw it on the shelf in 1999ish...can't remember exactly. At the time I think it was pretty fresh (obviously) I never saw another issue until I met Darryl Gassaway and he is the one that got me back on track with it. It was also Darryl that introduced me to Gregg and got me set up to do my first coverage. I guess I have done 10-15 by now and each time it's a lot of fun and an honor! Here is my favorite issue. I took the cover photos and have 18 pages inside. Unofortunaely Steve Cote was killed in a car accident and he didn't get to see his model on the cover or the center fold. I have been very fortunate to meet people I may not have met....because of the opportunity I embraced with MCM. Thank you Gregg and Darryl! and this is probably the most inspiring issue because of the cover.....Gregg I read that this is the most requested cover to make a poster......I AGREE!! I also want a calendar still! that cover inspired me to tear my room apart and have some fun! -

New model car magazine in the market?
RodBurNeR replied to meaneyme's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sir, excuse me Sir.... I am 35 and everywhere I go it's "Sir"....I NEED to dye my hair lol It's a very nice magazine! I also have been lucky to get a model in there in the first issue. The magazine covers anything old school and anything that is just too cool. I don't know how many remember.....but a few years back, there was a "new magazine" on a web site everyone was going nuts over.....many bought into it and NOBODY got anything.. that was pretty sad. The magazine was born out of obvious interest in the traditional hot rod and kustom models. Until TRaK was built, it was almost impossible to tell "old school" was still so strong. Ya see them on board and at shows here and there....but when ya get them all on one board it's a shock! I had nothing to do with starting the magazine, but I like to think that it would not have happened without the masses on my forum Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale. Don started out on his own, doing all of it himself and does it for his own enjoyment. You will see things like how to's, featured builders, show coverage (on old school only models) and more. It's nice to have a new rag just for us Traditional lovers. Thanks VonDon! -
Bad news about our friend
RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have not heard anything since my original post. I was afraid to open this thread after seeing it has more replies. If anyone hears anything please let me know. trakburner@yahoo.com I will try to get ahold of his wife, but I hate to bother her right now and I am sure she is getting overwhelmed with calls and everything as it is. -
What is with the 50s?

My reply was almost directly towards the original post made. I only cupped some of it to calm the others down. -
What is with the 50s?
RodBurNeR replied to 50smania's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I love the old 50's cars and trucks. From what obviously got mentioned....yes after market resin is the best way to find cars not made in kit form. The subject on Modelhaus having photos on their site is valid, but I also understand why they don't. It would be much easier to click "buy" when contemplating a purchase towards something "custom", but to photolog every single item is kinda hard and not all together necessary. Like it was pointed out we all know what a '54 Ford looks like.....so no I don't need to see a photo of it. However to the new guys , as pointed out....they are not sure what quality Modelhaus has.....BUT.....they are so good that word of mouth sells plenty of their product. I know they are already extremely busy and in order to keep their smooth operation going....they want to keep it where it's comfortable to run without panic, without screaming customers etc etc.... Also please keep in mind that there are vendors for Modelhaus that travel the shows. Carle Pasak that hits the midwest shows, has let's say a LOT of "value" inventory wise and for him to constantly have all the products on hand...Modelhaus has to keep him stocked up almost the same as themselves. So consider the inventory offered and double it or triple it in size spread across vendors and then add in the hundreds of orders a month they most likely get by email, postal service etc... I am surprised Don even has time to go to shows like Toledo....but he does and I think it's because he really enjoys seeing people and offering his product first hand. For those who are unsure of what something looks like...it's just as easy to ask around for photos if anyone has that product. There are also some of us who archive our purchases and make them available online for reference all in the name of promotion and sharing. Anyone is welcome to visit my fotki, I have photos of my own and photos that people have sent me to add into it. I hope it helps you see the quality. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...urce/modelhaus/ To get other hard to find 50's cars, try Steve at Star Models. He offers resin from several different casters. http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/STARModels.html Steve doesn't do the casting...he is a vendor. Bottom line....it would be nice to see photos on Modelhaus.com ... At least of the custom or phantom stuff. I know the quality will be very nice so I don't need to see a replacement bumper for a vintage kit. -

The best part of the NNL Nationals....
RodBurNeR replied to tim boyd's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw a photo of that cup, it's been only 2 visits for me coming from Omaha it's almost 12 hours one way for me. However the people make this show my absolute favorite of the year and that is why I will drive so far and spend so much money to make it. I didn't make it this year, but I did a rent a car....long story but I will be there next year! The people/friends is exactly what attracts me and the models come second. -

I hate to butt in here, but I think like you said....need to check with your friend on this. I know Steve very well for years and is like family to me. We live about 3minutes apart ....I see him all the time. I have absolutely NO doubt in my mind that someone has pulled your leg .....but it was not Steve. Steve is the kind of guy that will give you his shirt off his back, he helps people all the time in and outside of this hobby.......he donates money and model kits to help our club, he donated his 20 some year collection of awards to help the club out too....these are not the actions of a swindler... ..I hope you figure this out because I guarantee there are a whole LOT of people who will stand by Steve's integrity.

Rick, I couldn't make it this year....but I almost did. I will see you next year!

Bill Stillwagon
RodBurNeR replied to BKIN10SECS's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill is one of the most influential, creative kustom modelers I have ever met. His work in person is to behold. On top of that, he is down to earth and very nice to talk to. He is a member on TRaK and I love it when he surprises us with new builds! I was stuck here at home this NNL....wish I could have seen his new truck in person ~drool~ -

I guess the word got around up there, I had a horrible day and no matter what I could not get on the road. It really upsets me because I can't take it back....but there is next year and nothing will stop me! I am glad everyone had a good time.

Bad news about our friend
RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah Bud has built some serious drag cars. I was just remembering when I was looking to "try" a 1/16 scale model out. He sent me a vintage '55 chevy hardtop that he was building. It's not finished, but I have to get that one done someday. Just shows what kind of guy he is. Very giving and caring, a great friend. -
Bad news about our friend
RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thank you Peter, let's not give up on him yet though! I know it doesn't sound good, but he is still pulling. Bud is one of the best model builder's I know and you can see his work "featured" in magazines as well as covered from shows. His models have been in many publications over the years. Bud is also a drag racer. He has a passion for drag racing and he puts every bit of detail into his builds. Here he is Milan drag way Bud has amazing talents, but he also is a very friendly person and good friend.
