I just called Bud Lefevre on his cell to see if he could pass on message that I won't be at NNL. He was very hard to talk and couldn't hear me very well. He told me to call his home. I called and his wife explained what was going on. Bud has cancer and it doesn't look good at all. I am in tears right now, I have known him for about 5 years and he is a very nice guy. I asked his wife if I should let everyone know and she said "that's fine". She is keeping busy and she said Bud is pretty doped up so that he is not really in much pain. If you have anything to say call his home. His wife is going up to hospital in morning and said she would tell him he has friends that love him.

cool paint combo! it just needs some decals for "gramps rods" on the doors.

Dan, your hand must be HUGE!!! You know I like them all...but the top one hehe *razzin' ya*

thank you Marcos! I love the body too! Peter, thank you as well for your nice comment! I just want to say (I know it's almost the same)...but the color on the body is Bronze by Testors One Coat. I have so far had some say they didn't like the "green" with the red top....I think everyone's computers have different settings.

psst...Cruz....I didn't build this lol

Thanks! I did not wash the grille, I never do. I use an archival ink pen with a tiny tip that fits between the grille bars perfectly. The grille shines "where it's supposed to" without dulling the rest of it. THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

oh yeah sure! blame me, I get blamed for the toilet paper running out by my wife and now this! I am glad to be of "assistance" in your desires. Well I think this is the first one built like that I have seen! It's really beautifully done as well, very nice paint and clean work! I like it so much I am going to add it to my favorites AND to the instructions set to show how this model will look built, it's perfect!

cool! nice to see another kustom!

thanks people's! I did actually think of doing that George...but after 4 paint jobs on this car I decided not to take a chance lol

I thought it was a proper name if you think about Kings and their wardrobe. I can't find the spinners, but when I do I will add them to the rims. I painted this thing 4 times because I kept getting a less than satisfying result and it's still not perfect but good enough to call done, enjoy!

NNL Nationals Toledo..... Who's going?
RodBurNeR replied to PatRedmond's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sorry I won't be in Toledo. The show I am headed to is 10 minutes from there though. It's gonna be a great time, I love this show! -
Dwayne, that's a bummer but I understand. I hope everything gets worked out.

I respect this thread has been started here on beloved MCM....but since this kit is solely a "hot rod" kit , I would like to invite you to ask the members of Traditional Rod and Kustom in scale. 849 members , almost all of them build hot rods! Keep the windows open, but open them wider and you will get more air. With all respect to everyone, this is a general interest forum so you will be getting opinions from people who build other kits than hot rods. (absolutely no offense meant towards anyone) TRaK members have really good ideas for what would be cool in a hot rod kit, namely wheels, tires, engines etc....It's nice to have the kit available, but honestly there are a lot of parts that get tossed into the parts boxes. The 302 engine IMHO dates the car, put a more realistic choice in the kit please Revell! Olds Rocket, 392 Hemi, 427 Ford ....just some thoughts. I read a lot of places and agree that the tires in the 5window kit are not very easy to work with and not very nice looking. The Rat Rods series '29 Ford kit has some VERY desirable tires and wheels in it.....combine those in the latest 5window kit and you have it! I also would love to see those headlights included from the previous "look what's coming" photos of the red 5window. http://trakinscale.proboards.com/index.cgi EDIT: Revell....check this link to see what people have been doing with their '32 Fords http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...ds/23-34-fords/ and these... http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...dans-by-revell/ http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...ndow-by-revell/

Toledo is my favorite show of the year, hands down! I started going in 2007 and I wouldn't miss it for anything now. Perks... Like Lyle said 800 plus models entered. If you want to make friends and see friends , this is the best social gathering I have been to. When I go, it's non-stop laughs, good chats....it's just a GREAT time! Vendors range from Modelhaus, Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland, Jimmy Flintstone, R&R Resins, Johan, Bud Lefevre and many , many more. Lyle also said many of the best modelers around, he's right....some real drool material! I have never been to another show where so many people are friendly and eager to meet you. Out of the countless people that showed up last year, I was able to at least gather these guys for a photo outside. To me, that's a lot of people at one show...all of us are friends and know each other either in person or from these forums we go to. Here are my photos from last year and I didn't take photos of everything, there are so many people to talk to you really don't have enough time. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...ationals-maume/

gotta love Laurel and Hardy! that show was great, even if it was not in my time I watched it when it was on. -
Need your input and advice!!!!
RodBurNeR replied to cruz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
yeah, if you are painting and foiling then you should be able to get more. there was a few people selling kits like that on ebay awhile back and getting a bunch of money out of them because of the bodies being painted up real nice. I don't see anything wrong with it and I thought of doing it myself, but I don't have the time to build my own haha! I have sold kits because I needed money badly for less than I paid...which really irritated me to do and even though I lowered the prices less than my investment....people still wanted to pay less! I didn't sell for less though! I work for Hobby Lobby and am the department manager of the hobby and art sections. Today I had to "Raise" the prices of about 40 some kits. The kits had been sitting around since I started, but that's why they made me do it. The longer they sit, the more they become valuable to the company because they are losing profit. Now when someone buys one of those kits, the profit will be making up for the loss of sales from last couple of months. If people would regularly buy kits, they would go down in price.....trust me on that. With prices going up because people are not spending, they could eventually stop selling them because it would be a loss. I really would hate to see that. The prices of new kits was already so high to begin with, think yesterday you could spend $17.99 and today they are marked $21.99! No kidding! The prices being high like that, is the main reason I buy from friends or online. I won't pay overhead on top of overhead. What I am saying is....the kits you bought for whatever dollar amount are now worth more....because the cost went up everywhere to buy it in a store again. Problem is, people know they can buy the same kits for many dollars cheaper online or from a friend....so you always lose out no matter what. Best to ya on this buddy! I might be interested, so keep me posted if ya go forward. Always nice to have some friends work on your shelf. (I would never enter anyone's work at a show other than my own though) -
box stock? you know I am going to bust your nads here....you have skills to make working suspension and windows....I bet you could build a mighty fine kustom!
-
pretty sharp! the wheels look better on it than what I have seen them on before.

Anyone want to come help my model storage?
RodBurNeR replied to Lyn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if you think you have it bad, try helping Steve Kohler (Star Models) he has over 5,000 kits. (for sale by the way) That doesn't include the resin kits.
