  1. wheels definately make it or break it in this situation IMHO. raised the rear up a little and gave slight rake and changed wheels. did it in a hurry, but you get the idea.
  2. that's a very nice looking rod! I don't like the wheels though , it needs more meat for that Hemi. Not that I could complain, but as nice and well done as it is.....I wonder why they didn't take the time to put a hump and nice carpet over that tranny? Shifter could be changed out too. Personally I really enjoyed looking at it, just has a few things I would change if it was mine...but I can't complain.
  3. hmm I kinda like it suede! nice wheels for this one too!
  4. congrats to everyone! Drastic Plastics born January 2004 and has over 550 members give or take 50....hard keeping count. It's an online club, but we have a show here in Omaha each year and we do have a lot of stuff going on. www.thedpmcc.com
  5. so you beat him?
  6. did they have the Hudson or Chrysler there? you say 52-53...is that a guess or does that mean the kit has conversions in it?
  7. Gregg, thankyou for the photos! I see some things I will be wanting, wooohooooo! Nice MCM setup too!
  8. Low prices, fast friendly and honest service. http://www.resinrealm.net/Star/STARModels.html
  9. WOW! That came out beautifully! The glue bomb you started with to what you have now....just amazing, very nice work! I am adding to my favorites so I can drool more later!
  10. I think there will be a build going on in various clubs and internet sites across the country. (and others) I am also sure there will be displays and awards or various speeches at numerous shows. Bud was no lightweight....he was a real champion amongst friends and modeling alike. Whatever you do, just make sure you are doing it in his memory, look at his builds and see what he saw. Bud paid close attention to details, I know everyone builds differently....but I personally plan to build something equivalent to what he would have done. I will be part of the builds that go on, but I would be doing it by myself if there was none. http://public.fotki.com/Maliburacr/my-model-cars/
  11. I see you got it cleared, looks sooooo nice bro! You are the reason I will be torturing my tape!
  12. I love this car Ron! I will be watching for more on it. That Lincoln looks real nice too! I have both cars, but my Buick is a hardtop.
  13. You are very welcome! If you don't find what ya need let me know and I will see if I can get it uploaded.
  14. here is the cartoon.....ahh the good ole' days! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-rnjXdj9-LI
  15. Yeah, I think back to that cartoon with the little hot rod that was trying to impress his dad....remember that? He got all souped up and had a coon tail hehe! I want to add that touch to some of my models.
  16. I knew you would look! Actually, this is a totally model related idea. I was googling lastnight and found a fotki site with a photo of a penny with a couple of flies on it and it led to a step by step. I am not into fly fishing, but I do fish. I got an idea! I would like to know if anyone here ties flies? If you do....have you thought about making 1/25 scale raccoon tails for hot rod antennas? I am willing to bet that an experienced person could make a realistic tail! Yes I am aware that DL makes a tail, or at least did for awhile....he's a buddy....but I think that after looking at this photo the coon tail could be done with even more realism. (no offense DL if ya read this, I still think you rock!) This is really tiny, but if something can be done this small...
  17. mmmmm hot rod!
  18. looks awesome with the wide 5s!
  19. Is this the one? www.thedpmcc.com/instructionsintro.html
  20. not my cup of tea, but man that's a lot of detail and I respect the work in this! I like looking at builds like this, it takes a little longer to soak all the little details in and then when ya think you have seen all of it, there's more. NIce work!
  21. yep been there awhile, my name there is also "awbcrazy"
  22. What a long day, losing someone in your life is never fun. I didn't know what to do with myself and instead of thinking about it all day and bumming myself and everyone around me out....I slept. I actually had a dream about him and it was enlightening. I only met Bud in person twice, but he was a member here on MCM ,TRaK and a member of Drastic Plastics for 5 years. Many times we emailed and sometimes a phone call. Bud was always willing to pitch in where he felt comfortable to do so. We did a "feature build" on www.thedpmcc.com a couple of years back where he volunteered to do in progress of a '56 Chevy Nomad he was building for Randal Klein as a replica of his real drag car. The build was interesting and fun to watch and it was all documented on the web site. I have all of the images still and what he wrote about it, but it's been off the site for awhile now. When he completed that car, he had to mail it to Randal in Lincoln, Nebraska but he wanted it to pit stop at my place in case there was damage from shipping I could fix it for him and hand it over to Randal personally. For someone who is so well known and so skilled in this hobby , it was a real honor to handle this for him. The car did arrive damaged , I repaired it and took photos to show him it was being done. You can see them here. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...efevres-nomad-/ Some time before all of that, I was making inquiries about 1/16 scale model kits because I have never built one. I wanted to know what kits were nice and in the line of my interests. I got many responses and one of them from Bud Lefevre. Bud said he had a '55 Chevy project he never finished and wanted my address. I tell ya...that made me feel great! I got the kit as you can see here. ( I have been looking for parts lately because I thought it's about time to get working on it) He scratchbuilt the rims and he was definately going for a drag car. Bob Dudek and I went to Bud's house to hang out and eat dinner when the Toledo NNL was going on. Bud always said he was going to take me for a ride in his Malibu and do a holeshot out of the driveway hah! Well...when we visited the car needed some attention and I didn't get my ride but he did start it up and let me inhale it all...wow! Bud showed his stuff off in his hobby room, he had some very cool projects going that I realize won't be finished now. His wife Ginger is very nice and I spoke to her on the phone recently when I found out he was in the hospital again. I hope she is handling well, I plan to call her soon. I am sure she is getting plenty of calls from family, so I won't bug her right now. My daughter Anissa remembers him and so does my wife Alisha. I told them and they both felt sad to hear the news. Bud was caring, funny, humble, generous and all around good person. I guess this is my way of speaking of a good friend. I think I owe him that. He was not just a great modeler....he was a great person. RIP One day we will all meet in large numbers again my friend.
  23. My heart dropped when I saw the title....I knew what it was going to say and I can't tell you how sad this makes me. Thank you for posting Drew. I am glad Bud is not suffering any longer, but it doesn't ease the pain of his loss.
  24. Hey! Can I get some fries and a small chocolate shake? I think we got it handled pretty good, just ironing the laundry ya know... I have a headache so please whisper... my eyes are throbbing from all the YELLING. Don't worry about my sugg's for now, I know ya are busier than a chained goat in a burning field.
