Ahh yes the ignore feature, I forgot all about that. Thanks for the reminder. I can only assume you are referring to me as the "new sheriff in town" comment? It's all good if it's towards me, but if it is I would like you to know I have no intentions to be a gun fighter 'round these parts. I offered my knowledge to Gregg and told him it's up to him if he wants my help.....not a big deal. I already own 3 forums, web sites and numerous other things to keep me plenty busy. I care enough about the forum and magazine to make extra time and help if needed is all.

Ron, no hard feelings. I do know how things can be taken the wrong way over the internet....so it's rare , very rare that I ever take things personally. Thanks for your kind words, I appreciate it! I can always use more instructions for the site, it does help a lot of people and it's been the biggest project and the most fun and interesting too! Thanks and no worries from this end my friend!

Nasty and vulgar? I think ya read into that too much. I did see your reply to George. Forgive me for my ways, I usually reply in the manner I did to not only address one person but everyone at the same time. (habit of being a forum owner)

Seems that would be a bit anal to not say Happy Birthday to someone. Would also be nice if we could just concentrate on the subject at hand instead of prying other things up to mention that have no relativity. It's plain to see that there will be something to complain about if there is nothing to complain about. ie. ALL CAPS bugs some people, well some people have to type in ALL CAPS because they can't see very well. Some people like ME like to point out certain words because the majority skims over what is typed and without the CAPS on some words people don't see them inadvertently. However, to each their own....large letters don't bother me, if they did I would have to go see a psych and find out what happened in my childhood. ( cynical maybe ) ( smiling now , yes ) Funny how the way someone types can just drive others absolutely insane. As for those misspelling words all the time.....well we all didn't do perfect in school and as long as I know what they are trying to say, I am okay with it. Sometimes I get in a hurry and make typo's, but I never use spellcheck....ever. Maybe other's are the same way? But I do know there are some that type in a way that it's clear they don't care. ( not that many that I have seen though ) So, are we going to pick out all of our faults to justify the real reason for this thread? Or will we try to work together and solve the problem by simply not posting OFF TOPIC? This would include politics, religion, your pets, you neighbors killer BBQ, economics, poems, belief's, hypothetical or other redundancies. ( nobody comes to MCM hoping to find these topics ) Personally, I come here to see friends, learn, share and help people. Saying Happy Birthday is completely on topic.....saying hello to a friend, fellow modeler is ok with me. George mentioned what he thought General was for when he joined and that's exactly how I felt. General topics about modeling. Example "AMT vs Revell '32 Fords"....inside you find discussion about those kits. It's not hard to stay on topic really. I don't know what else to say, I hope everyone can just get the points being made and we can stop nitpicking.

that's a good looking rod Ira! nice to see you posting here, I remember seeing some of your work in the 60's or 70s magazines.

Some really nice rooms here! I will add mine just to help the cause...Rick wanted to see some. I doubt anything I have is useful since it's only temporary because I don't own this home. here is a link to my past rooms....maybe something you can use in there Rick? http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...ld-hobby-rooms/

I am replying to that thread to add to the madness. -
STOP YELLING AT ME DAVE! I think we made our points here, let's all take a deep breath and try to maintain what sanity model building allows us. I feel better getting that stuff off my chest, thanks for reading.

somehow I can't picture Dave... smile.....it's not that big of a deal to type in caps when trying to make a point.

Scribing Panel Lines & Opening Doors
RodBurNeR replied to ViperDave's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I use photoetch saw blades by Model Car Garage. I don't cut doors open all the time, but I have done it several times and I can tell you that the blade is the exact width of the seams , so it's just right. You don't really have much shaping or sanding to do when it's over either. Not only that, you have a much smaller chance of slipping out of the groove like a #11 does and slicing through your other panels. On top of that, the saw blades don't get dull and don't snap off at the tip like an xacto blade does. These blades are flexible and durable, if you bend a blade it easily bends back into shape and is ready to go again! These fit into the xacto handles like a blade does. They are just as thin as most of the photoetch parts you may already have....so take a look at them for thickness and see what I mean. this took me about 30minutes including the interior tub. -
Photo Booth

Anytime! -
Bill, thanks for doing a build like this! It goes to show that no matter how long we have been building, there are details and things we often miss. I really enjoyed reading up until now and will keep checking back. BTW....you are most welcome on the foiled scripts tip!

I like it! Nostalgia breathing beast!

not sure if ya meat mine or not, but here ya go. http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...ing-a-cheap-ph/ -
I don't see anything wrong with posting photos of real vehicles....afterall that's where most of us draw ideas from. However if someone started posting pictures of trailer parks and pointing out some of the funny lawn furniture or other things about them... I don't think that's constitution for building a diorama unless....that's what the post was made for in the first place. But really I don't care if people want to "talk" about stuff....it's just the WHAT'S HAPPENING outside our hobby topics that really bug me. I know what's going on out there....the world is a great big mess and that's why I come here to hide from it!

The fuss George is because it still keeps coming....look over the general section and say that it's stopped....still stuff coming up. If someone wants to talk about say .... knitting?....the topic drags on, people getting tired.....but someone mentioned "would be cool if you could knit seat covers for my model"......all the sudden it's ok to have the off topic post going because someone made a model related suggestion? Why even have it in the FIRST place??? Someone is going to read THIS thread right now and think to themselves that we are out of control, because again we have another disagreement and the thing is....people want it to stop....and others are saying " I don't know what the fuss is about?".... ugh! I am serious as a doorknob, I am tired of the integrity of this place being taken down several notches by this stuff! I am not here yelling, just tired of it is all. I asked Gregg to be a moderator here temporarily just to "tidy up"....I hope he let's me so we can fix the problems and get back to what we came for.......fun, learning, sharing, friends and plastic! George, just replying with some sense is all.....nothing personal.

I agree , you can't make everyone happy...not even on your last day on earth if they don't love you. I don't want to rant here, but I have been holding back a LONG time. I can't tell you how many "lengthy" replies I have typed out in good gesture, then said heck with it and deleted them. I believe most everyone here is very cool and laid back but alot of guys here have "thin skin" and I am afraid to upset people with my replies or posts....why? I really don't care much what people think of me, but when I make contact with anyone.....I do it with honesty, if I can't say what's on my mind then it's frustrating. I also don't want this to be a big drama reply on my part, but since I am known as a member here and have affiliated with Gregg and the magazine....people think I am someone they can talk to. Not that many....just a few, but a few people have complained to me they don't want to come here because of all the OFF TOPIC stuff that just seems to take over the real reason we are here. I am not kidding...people either won't join or have joined but not willing to talk or show their work because of the drama, the off topic, the religious, political, economic and other types of posts that have NOTHING to do with modeling! Come on guys, let's get it together! Have more pride in this magazine and forum and more respect for your fellow modelers and the newcomers that will run away when they see your horse hockey posts! Another thing, we may not all like each other....many of us see each other at shows and I DO hear the backstabbing and smack talking first hand.....but let's knock it off ok? I see people other than Jeff Sauber deleting their own posts because they get PM's or emails or straight replies on their stuff that makes them feel like not even trying to share. 90% of this hobby is held together by ADULTS....men and women in their 40's and older. (not setting much of an example for the kids we all say to promote the hobby to) The way I see it....if people can't treat everyone else and the forum as a whole with more respect....then they should leave and stop boring everyone else to death with the debates and such. Please make the GENERAL section a place where we can chat amongst friends.....but leave the above mentioned stuff out. Sorry to rant....but this stuff has got to stop once and for all! That should go for everyone... I don't care if Hummer is taken over by the Mayans and the world explodes tomorrow.....TODAY I come here to visit about MODELS.

I am glad you were able to figure out where the problem was. I know Steve was pretty shocked over this post, he has never had a complaint before. Thanks for being good enough to update everyone on this. Now it can be put to rest and you know to deal with him directly, it's much safer.
-
right on! your attention to detail will be interesting on this one.
-
nice score! I have that '48 Ford also, unbuilt. I really want to build it, but must get other things done first.
-
I really like what I see here Jeff. Will be interesting to see what you do with it considering your style with usual machine stainless and aluminum parts. It looks like it's going to be all old school?

New model car magazine in the market?
RodBurNeR replied to meaneyme's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would only like to add that Kustom & Hot Rod models is not comparable nor is it even competition to either Model Cars or Scale Auto....it's a new entity that has not been done. I love MCM and also love the new KARH magazine. Neither one detours me from the other. Remember there have been other magazines over the years, a lot of them didn't survive as "general interest" publications. KAHR is not general, so it's only going to appeal to those who like old school hot rods, kustoms, drag cars and other of the like. Remember there is an era of modeling being savored here. Don's goal was to make the magazine for the guys who love this stuff, so it won't appeal to you if you like muscle cars , nascar or sports cars... If you are an Ed Roth , George Barris, Sam Barris, Gene Winfield, Bo Huff, John D'Agostino, Larry Watson or Bill Hines fan.....then you will probably love it. You won't see too many crazy show rods, but some of the early show cars are definately there.
