? about the 1972 GMC pickup
RodBurNeR replied to LOBBS's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
thanks Mark for the compliment! yep, both are the same....not much difference other than instead of slotted mags, you get some billet style deep dish rims with low profile wide tires. the custom grille remains the same with the two center headlights. i have had these and built them over the years, they are great kits! the other saught after custom grille with NO headlights only came in the 1969 issue of the '69 fleetside and won't fit the GMC in case you wondered. i also had the '69. 72 stepside 70s issue http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...tepside-pickup/ 69 fleetside http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...969-chevy-flee/ 72 fleetside recent issue http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...72_chevy_truck/ 72 fleetside early 90s issue http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...2-cheyenne-fle/ people ask me why have so many copies of the same kits....now ya know.....they didn't ALL come with the same exact parts. -
New guy here, model rookie
RodBurNeR replied to Space_Whale's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
welcome! welcome back to the hobby! you already know how relaxing it can be and how much satisfaction it gives , or you would not have come back haha! My advice to you is to take it easy, don't try to be at "everyone else's level" or it will become a chore. If you want to make it a personal goal to be better on each model, that is the healthy way to do it! Remember that being the top detail or paint artist isn't what is important....it's being yourself and enjoying what you are building. (just words to remember, after awhile it might wear off and you forget why you started again) Keep us posted on your build! -
very sweet build! i am all about mild and traditional, keep up the great work!

nice color, i like the tonneau cover. you gave me an idea with that decal on there. what if it was a clear acetate cover, plant a wierd shaped stick on it, shoot color over it, peel sticker off and then have a see through center? i know it's been done...but sounds cool and fun to do.

so how is the AMT BIG -55 Nomad 1/16?
RodBurNeR replied to JAFFA's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Bill , if you built one it must have actually drove! haha! I have two of them, one is a hard top and other is a convertible. Neither have been worked on yet. Actually one has , Bud Lefevre gave me the hardtop and he started it. I got the convertible for parts to finish the hardtop. That is a LONG term project and i won't be touching it until i have some room on the bench lol -
Kevin, i am not one to give advice on building lowriders goth style .. my appologies. I did however check the thread to see what it was you needed help on. I read your post and that is why i replied respectfully i might add..... To say that this post is to keep Jairus from starting "######" again, is pretty snide isn't it? This is what you said ... "so if that scallywag <--name calling, taunting, flaming jarius <---used his name and expect him not to defend himself? posts up anything political me and him will have round two and i will be like ali and knock him out in two punches " <----that's a threat I am not trying to crawl up your leg, i am just making a simple point. If you truely don't want to be in confrontations with Jairus, then it would be smart not to start a thread and throwing those kinds of comments into it. It's like saying "i'm sorry, i won't call you names anymore.....douchebag!"....See? Just let it go for the sake of your own image and for the respect of this forum. Those comments only keep the flame going, hopefully you can understand your error now. Respectfully....

Kevin, i don't know you and don't have anything against you. I do however think that this post is to bypass the locked one to continue flaming Jairus. You and him may not see eye to eye, but this is ridiculous now. I don't care if you are goth, gay, emo, whacked or psycho. This forum is not for posting slanderous, threatening, immoral or religious/lifestyle likes or dislikes. I have seen so many posts by you that get deleted, locked and people keep asking you nicely to stop posting the "off topic" stuff. Why do you keep doing it? It's not like we all want to see it, it's rather boring to come to a "model car" forum and see randum postings about Slipknot or Manson etc.... I actually listen to some of their music, but if i wanted to hear them or talk about them i would go to youtube or find a forum about them. I think you are feeling "on the outside" and are lashing out trying to grasp attention to feel accepted because you feel that nobody understands you. It's not true.....you build models, so we DO understand you LOL Please stop posting about all this stuff, if you have a problem with anyone i would really appreciate if you send them a PM. I will watch for your build threads to see what you do, i don't think i have seen your models. Respectfully....

RodBurNeR replied to RodBurNeR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)

i hear ya! don't get me wrong, i am glad we have the internet and all of these forums and web sites! i only meant "sometimes i long for the feeling" i had when i was a kid. it's not easy to embrace it the way i did as a kid. now that i am 34 and been all over the internet since 1996, i have pretty much seen it all but have not tried it all. before the internet, i was SUPER happy with my models! (not that i don't enjoy them now) , but i mean....i didn't clear coat, i painted my trim, sometimes left engine parts out because i was not that concerned with what under the hood looked like, glued wheels up under the fenders to get them lower lol.....see what i am saying? it's like the Matrix.... remember when NEO was in his slush bubble? he was all fine and comfortable with the way the world was in his own mind....but when he took the pill he was alert to the fact he was living a lie. (not that i was living a lie) it's like the internet is my Matrix now that i know what's out there...i can no longer be "innocent" in my own mind or in anyone else's eyes, it's never going to be that way again. Sometimes i want to build a model that is really simple to get the same enjoyment.....but it's tough to do! now that i have foiled, cleared and polished, scratch built, used photo etch and resin .... it's pretty hard to be satisfied with anything less.

I am glad you liked it Gregg! Honestly, i am really trying to go. However, i am not starting the new job until the 20th of September, which screws things up. I really want to go, but being busted right now i have sold some models off to catch up on bills. I hope so...i really do! thanks! i used to blow up models with firecrackers, shoot them with BB gun, drop off cliffs....i even used to take them all out in the driveway when we lived in Columbia Falls, MT and play with them in the ruts. (dirt drive).

yeah i think we talk about that. LMAO! the creeps! thanks for the laugh! come to think of it....i remember them huge trikes sitting so long on the shelf, the boxes were badly caved in , celophane coming off and some were open with parts missing....back then, well it still happens some times....but back then, it seems like everyone tested the paints on the shelf edge before buying them LOL....and if they wanted to inspect the kit, it was NO PROBLEM.....i remember opening a kit up to look at it inside with store workers right there....they didn't care, i put back on shelf if i didn't like it. i think you can get in trouble for that now.
