RodBurNeR replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I will be there again for my second time from Omaha, Ne! I had a great time and saw a lot of models last year, so i am hooked I will be at the Red Roof also Billy. I might bring stuff to sell too, but i won't get there until Saturday morning before the show. -

i dont know the times, but i want to mention how tough it seems to get exact particulars on this show it is. can't someone put up a web site, fotki or something to help us? fliers would be great, but costly.

I want to thank Dwayne Bressem for putting on another great show in St. Joe, Missouri! My great uncle and I headed to the show this AM and we had a great time! Steve Hinson from California was there and we met in person from knowing each other on the internet. Steve has some nice builds and is an all around cool guy! I got to hang with my good friend Bud Ellis, Ellis Kendrick and some others that well....they live by me so i see them all the time hehe! I can't begin to tell how many jokes and laughs happened today, yes most of them were on me.....thanks STEVE AND DAVE! ( i will get you back , you know me) hehe The point is, we had a good time, laughed a LOT and that's what it's about! Dave Neighbors thought it would be funny to build a "cartoon" car dedicated to me. Look for a yellow mopar with a monster sticking through the roof. My g-uncle Roger had a great time, bought a few more kits and i think he is enjoying this show and model hobby! What's going on guys? AMT/MPC is barely under new ownership and you have complaints? Sorry but you should AT LEAST mention the "old" AMT didn't have good service....i hate to see the new guys get a bad rep based on this thread. I am looking forward to the NEW AMT. oh....and Revell, they have improved their kits big time in the last few years, it used to be THEY sucked. -
yeah i know. i hope there is room for me lol

cool, i have seen photos but i wanted to see in person looks like a lot of detail! since you asked, i would personally not consider it a pro touring. to me it's more of a tuner and i hope that doesn't offend you. i think of anything pro touring as being mid 60s to late 70s full size american cars with complete modernization and speed equipped. others may look at it differently, but you can also look up what makes a pro touring car on google.

you kidding? Anthony has a plasma image that goes to work for him so he can build the next ass kicker! on the other hand, i look forward to seeing your green bug in person Gary!
-
lol well honestly the first time i heard the name it sounded like a place you go if you want "relations" ... like the house with the "red" porch light lol
-
I reserved a room at the Red Roof Inn for October 11th. I won't get there until just before the show opens and will remain there the day. We will leave Sunday morning back to Omaha. Basically just like last year....up and back! hehe

Can Testors One Coat be sanded?
RodBurNeR replied to wdcav's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you really should not sand ANY metallic paints. they start looking like the belly of a trout! however....it depends on the part you want to sand, i would not sand anything that is a noticable area if it was me. what happens is, the actual color is sanded away exposing more of the metal flakes , making it look strange and it will show up trust me. if you want to smooth it out more like glass? hit it 3 times with clear coat and wet sand the clear...it will level out. i do all of my shiny paint jobs that way. hope this helps. -
cya there Anthony!

ya did a great job! you should show pic of the 1:1 so people see what is behind this build.

Best Trick For Doing Pinstriping
RodBurNeR replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If it was me, i would use striping tape to masking the line off and cover the rest of the car with paper or glad press 'n seal or something.... shoot light coats so it's not a heavy stripe. Did that with the Bright Aqua stripe on this a few years ago. I know you didn't want to hear about the striping tape Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki -
New Ford Movie comming Oct 3rd
RodBurNeR replied to Eshaver's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have owned some of all brands. I honestly speak when i say the most reliable of the big 3 was the FORDS i had. here is a quick list.... 1962 Ford Fairlane <-----i was second owner with 53,000 original 1967 Ford Custom 500 <---bought with a blown engine and replaced myself with a HP 289 1966 Ford Fairlane <----- straight 6 ran like a top 1957 Chevy Bel Air <----327 from a vette ran good 1966 Ford Thunderbird <----can't remember what engine, didn't own it that long but was 67,000 orginal miles 2000 Ford Explorer <----bought brand new , took back cuz it guzzled gas 2001 Ford Ranger <----bought brand new , took back because the payments were killing me 1984 Ford Thunderbird <---did have probs with electrical system 1978 Dodge Diplomat<-----318 where do i start? plugged ports didn't allow it enough time to see what the other problems were. 1979 Dodge Diplomat <----318 was given to me cuz it puked oil and barely ran 1973 International Step side <---- 345? strongest and quickest truck i ever owned 1979 Olds Cutlass <----i built the car literally from a shell. all new everything, i should have wasted all that money on something better lol 1970 Chevy Impala <----350 that fowled plugs with oil , tranny slipped constantly even after rebuild and brakes failed me doing 45mph 1998 Nissan Ultima <----outran the cops LOL.... 1999 Ford Escort <----aside being one of the biggest wussies i drove, it was reliable 1998 Toyota Corrola <---bought new, traded in for 2000 explorer above, what a mistake 1995 Hyundai Scoupe <-----traded with the toyota towards the explorer, we really got screwed! 1984 Renault Encore <-----sensors didn't last long , had to have the heads planed twice because of warpage 1982 Chevy s10 <-----tranny went out, replaced engine , other than that it was cheap to drive 1994 Ford Taurus <----elecrtical problems, horrible suspension and break downs a lot 1989 Dodge Colt <-----one of the best little cars we had 1979 Ford Mustang Ghia <----great running car, busted ball joint is all i had prob with 2004 Ford Focus <-----wifes current car, love it 2005 Ford F150 <-----my truck, love it 1984 Nissan <---sounded like a jalopy, but it started no matter how cold and would smoke the tires through 3rd gear lol 1979 Chevy Chevette <-----first car i legally drove, ran great, acted like it was ready for take off when you hit 65mph 1999 Olds Alero <-----told wife to take it right back to the lot POS 2003 KIA Spectra <-----i kid you not, this car was fast and very nice i liked it! one of their high end cars i am 34 years old, about 97% of those cars i bought and sold before i was 25. i prefer ONE thing over any brand.....RELIABILITY , then price ....looks didn't matter on some of those as i am sure you know how ugly them Mopars were i had lol I will always prefer FORDS.....i don't care if something breaks on them.....that's what tools are made for -
What year does this kit represent?
RodBurNeR replied to Billy Kingsley's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you are probably right, in fact i almost retracted and wanted to say '23....but that year is pretty incommon in kits other than AMT did some. -
i love '58s! i think the blue '57 you are talking about was the Bonneville issue. i have partial of one and a box and instructions. the parts were the same color. i think that the only issue in that blue was the Bonneville car and was also the only issue with the essential parts to build it. don't know why they never added them parts into a re-issue. anyways....i can't wait to see this one done, keep it going! since i mentioned it http://public.fotki.com/drasticplasticsmcc...7-ford-bonnevi/
