  1. I have bought from him many times and never had any complaint.
  2. That was meant to be a humorous play on word, Broke being the opposite of fixed. Oh well I thought it was funny anyway
  3. Why is it that when you are on a "fixed" income you are "broke"? Anyway, I haven't had much to spend on models lately but because of my stash I have been able to either use stuff out of my stock or trade for what I needed. For my Sam Hollingswoth Nomad project I already had the paint, wheels tires and other items needed and traded here on the board for the 57 belair and 56 Nomad kits I needed to complete the build, costing me nothing out of pocket. Had I not had the stash I have this project would cost me about $150.
  4. I'm just the opposite. The thrill for me is the build. Once it's finished it's just another dust collector in mr display case. The Model I enjoy the most is always the one I'm working on.
  5. Happy Birthday Gregg. May this year be happy and pain free.
  6. I built a few models for pay before and it really doesn't matter how much you charge as usually if you do thing right and charge a fair price you will make less an hour than you would working at McDonalds.
  7. Here she is with the tape off. Whenever you do two-tone paint there is some bleed-through that happens no matter how well you burnish down the mask. By hitting it with clear first the clear bleedsthrough and clogs the cappilaries so that the colored paint can't get through. I still have some fogged in detail to do but here she is for now.
  8. Today I masked off the flames with BMF, and shot it with a coat of clear to hopefully prevent bleed under, then I sprayed it with candy metallic rootbeer amber to match the second color of the paintjob. Tomorrow I will take off the BMF and start fogging in the detailing.
  9. I finally got some color on Sam's Nomad. The base color is a light gold lamborghini Color called Oro Chiaro Metallic which is a close match to the original color used on the 1:1. Because the paint job is what makes this car I gave the paint and prep just a bit more attention than usual. Aside from block sanding the whole body to remove any waves and ridges I even went as far as to polish out the primer so there would be as smooth a surface as possible. using light coats and careful application I laid down several coats of the light gold paint. Here is the modern clone of The Sam Hollingsworth Nomad in the same stage of completion. Next I will clear coat this color, polish out the paint once again, and then lay out the graphics.
  10. there is a supprt group for that. It's called "On & On Anon".
  11. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a really cool car at a car show, and when I approach it's a clear shot but as i raise my camara a crowd suddenly closes in completely oblivious to me. One time I was asked by a friend what he can do to ensure his car draws a crowd I responded, have me aim a camara at it.
  12. I have to admit I usually feel more comfortable behind the keyboard, or in a small gathering of other modelers. I have Asperger syndrome which sometimes makes me quite uncomfortable in social situations. I've worked hard to overcomethis, and just recognising the issues allows me to blend in pretty well. The biggest problems arrise when I meet someone who knows me from the boards who I don't know. sometimes I come off as a standoffish in these situations. It's rare though that I have been to a contest where people were outright rude to me, even if it was someone I'd had a disagreement with in the past. so I would say that this case was rare and probably extreme.
  13. I haven't but on the list of possible custom replicas is Larry Watson's 58 t-bird, Ed Roth's 57 chevy, Mox's 58 Impala.
  14. Testors model master paints have a satin black but they call it "black chrome trim"
  15. That's sweet, I'll have to pick up one of those bodies.
  16. no pictures in this update but there will be soon pics of the first color coat as I'm finishing all the nitty-gritty small flaws in the bodywork. But I thought I would post this important warning to anyone building any version of the Revell 1957 Chevies... Be Very careful with the rear fender openings. They are molded very thin!! ...I accidentally cracked on while handling the body during this conversion. the bodywork would be done now if not for a very tedious repair to this area.
  17. Just imagine how good a caster Kenny would be if he had two arms!
  18. After seeing Mark's bad resin example I feel compelled to show the opposite. This resin Falcon was from Bandit resin, and was actually easier to build than the kit body it was meant to replace. there was almost no clean-up nessesary, and everything fit right the first time. The AMT ranchero body's tooling is old and would have required a lot of sanding of mold lines to get ready for paint. I saved myself a lot of work by buying this transkit.
  19. Ironicly mine was Mad dog's 33 willys. Slush cast, neary a half inch thick in some placed and paper thin in others, and to make things worse the roof wasn't symetrical.
  20. I didn't call you a fool. I said you would be a fool if you were still waiting for it. You aren't so obviously that doesn't apply to you. you also should admit that three years or more would be a long time to be "outraged over someone taking you for a little hobby money. and of course it's not ok to rip people off but still it happens everyday. we have to take the rain as well as the sunshine. Life will never be fair, but if you contantly get outraged over little things like this the big injustices will blow you away. Be happy that most of the people you deal with don't rip you off.
  21. I've still got it. pehaps some time I'll take pictures of it.
  22. I actually had one sitting on my table at a swap meet marked free and there were no takers.
  23. If you have been waiting for 3 1/2 years for resin... A. You are fool if you are still waiting, I would have given up the first year. b. if you still feel outrage over something as petty hobby parts after 3 1/2 years your priorities are way out of whack. c. You should never spend on your hobby any money that you would miss if it were to disappear. That said, I'm sorry someone did you dirty, but it still doesn't even register on my outrage scale. There are resin casters I was more dissappointed to have gotten their products than I would have if they never appeared. Lucky for all of us those individuala are long gone from the marketplace.
  24. Are you bashing me? Stop Bashing me!...ok I feel better now
