Welcome Tony, don't forget about the model show this Saturday. It is an all subjects show so bring your builds. Look forward to seeing you. Russ http://islandclassic.shawwebspace.ca/ -
My first real attempt at a custom where slicing and dicing is concerned. It is for our local show next week for the "Orange" theme. chopped and channelled over the Phantom Vickie chassis. Paint is Tamiya brilliant Orange with gold pearl mixed in the clear. Only thing I'm disappointed in is with all the trial fitting I had the hood fitting but in final assembly the cab to radiator distance changed and now the hoods too short! Oh well, comments and critiques welcomed

Hi Harry, Found this build thread and have to say as much frustration that it caused you it looks great! Our local club was given this same car to be done as a group build and auctioned off for charity. my job are the wheels. I have a question for you though. Did you polish the metal parts with anything and if so what did you use? The spokes on the kit we have are very dull and some of the other metal parts look dull as well. Any help you can shed would be appreciated. Russ

This is the Tamiya kit built with the Studio27 decals and photo-etch. It is a very simple kit but decalling is one of my favourite parts of modelling. I find it the most therapeutic. Hope you enjoy!

This is a Studio27 kit. The TZ3 Corsa is a tribute to Alfa and Zagato and is a 1 off build. It was commissioned by Alfa Romeo collector Martin Kapp. The kit was painted with TS paints starting with Mica silver then mica red and followed by clear red. Unfortunately, the pics don't show the color as good as in real life. Thanks for looking

Oops, sorry forgot to mention the wheels are from detail master. Thanks for looking

This one was inspired by a rendition I saw in a japanese model mag done by Steve Stanford. I started with the Hasegawa kit, removed the roof, added the "bullet" from a Mercedes 300 slr. The front windshield was ground down to what I thought looked right and the side windows are sheet acetate. Thanks for looking

Thanks everyone for the kind words! I built this model 5-6 years ago, I'm just getting around to taking pics and posting them. So you see more of my builds soon. Hopefully I won't wear out my welcome!

This is the Scale Productions trans kit w/S27 decals. I used the tissue paper/white glue for the windshield cover then sealed it then decal.

Thanks Skip, I found very little reference and what I did find was not color. As for the steering wheel I think it should be the banjo style but I didn't want to rob one from a Fujimi kit. Russ

Thanks for the comments! The interior paint was a testors enamel red then dull-coated. The buckles came with the transkit but belts were from S27 seatbelt kit.

Finally learned to take and post pics! Hope it works! Kit has Hobby Design trans kit. Painted Zero Xirallic crystal white w/ pearl powder in clear.

Hello All, After much searching on here and google I'm still not sure on what kind of settings work better for taking pics of our models. I'm looking for info as to iso, f/, macro etc. I have a decent camera that has many settings available to me but not sure how to use them. I made a light tent and have a neutral background but after many pics still they don't look like many I see posted. Thanks for any and all help. Russ

Testors one coat vs Tamiya spray paints
m3fan posted a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I was wondering if anyone has used these paints over each other in either order? The reason is I like two colors from each line and want to do a two tone and use one of the brands clears. Thanks for any info, Russ -
newbie wheel question
m3fan replied to m3fan's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks for the help and info. I was going to lower the truck with those same ideas. I'm not as much worried about the wheels as much as the profile of the tires. The smaller scale tires could be a possibility. Thanks again, Russ -
Hey Truck Modelers, I have this desire to build a lowrider/show truck and was wondering if there are any wheel/ tire's out there that would be more appropriate. I notice on the "real" trucks the wheel size looks larger and the tires are lower profile. The truck I'm using is the Revell 359. I also have a "Black Magic"parts truck. I have built quite a few rigs in my teenage years that seem now to worth a fair amount of $. If only I knew! Thanks for your help, Russ
