revell 4Q2016 Release Annoucement
MrObsessive replied to Exotics_Builder's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Those you mentioned Charlie have been ignored for whatever reason for waaaaay too long! The '56 Sport Coupe you mentioned was another one of those listed on the "Wish List" I posted about at the NNL East. Let's see if they finally come through with at least the Nomad and the '56 Bel Air Sport Coupe in the not too distant future. I don't hold out much hope for the Handyman Wagon, although they did do the '57 Ford Del Rio. -
Yup, I had the Franklin Mint one too once upon a time. Don't know what happened to that one---I believe I traded it for something, but don't remember for what! Interesting that the first Mako Shark was a "hybrid" of sorts. It previewed the upcoming styling for the '63 Stingray, but it still had ties to the old C1 gen with its chassis frame and basic architecture. I think an uptop would look pretty cool on it! I don't know if the original had a folding top, but if I were building it I'd have one for it to be "different".

If I ever get brave enough, I'd sure like to turn that into a four door though! -

That's it!! That was part of his handle! 5.0 Man or something....... Another reason I remember this incident is that it happened around the same time my "incorrect" wiper motor in my '69 Dodge Daytona hit the mags. That raised a rather big firestorm as I had composed a rather irreverent, but truthful response to the fella that raised the stink about it in the mags back then. -
I wonder if the color change of the paint was made when they put in the newer engine (427)? I had that kit years ago Richard, and somewhere along the line it got lost in a move. I'll be watching as I've always liked this car! Call me weird, but to me the car looked absolutely sharp with that clear bubbletop that was on the original! Too bad AMT didn't include that with their rendition.

I'm quite sure he means the Bel Air sedan. That one's pretty plentiful still, and no-----there's not been a standard 210 sedan done yet. The Black Widow is about as close as you'll get for now. -

Tom, I remember that! IIRC, without mentioning their name (they may be posting here) the guy's first name started with a "D". His handle on the board in fact had something to do with Mustangs. The board went into a near maniacal FRENZY when they found out what this guy did.............I mean it got real UGLY! IIRC, it was later mentioned that there was some shill bidding going on which made things much worse! Now if his intention was to take the money to raise capital towards perhaps casting that kit into more for a business------Ok, that's not so bad. But I don't remember that being the case at all, and I almost forgot about that incident until you mentioned it! EDIT: I want to say also that happened back in the early '00's-----I can remember where I was living at the time, and the ruckus carried on for quite some time. It devolved into a spate of cursing (that's how bad it got) and Tom had to step in to quiet things down. This fellow "disappeared" after that, but it was not soon forgotten as guys were talking about it for what seemed forever. -

Come to think of it, I do believe an early Bronco was listed among those things in the "Wish List" I posted about at the NNL East. It wasn't in the initial page that I took a pic of, but I do remember seeing it later on listed. Now tooling one of these up takes some time of course, and this was in the planning stage maybe a few years ago. Nevertheless, this is a MUCH WANTED subject and it's been a looooong time coming! -

Gerry, I'm all for the model companies "simplifying" their kits if it means that we'll get more modern subject matter. I can think of a bunch of new cars (American and foreign) that could be kitted. I'd like to see a bit more variety than just the go-fast stuff, but I also understand the need to make what's gonna sell. -

BRONCO!! I've been wanting one of these forever too!! And it's going to be a full detail kit?? Good Lord! The choice of what to build next gets harder and harder! -

Ok, I just got rid of everything. There were a couple messages I'd like to have kept, but when cleaning out one's inbox, it seems to be an all or nothing approach. It's not as user friendly as before in the older format IMO. -

I give it about a year (or sooner) when you'll see Modelhaus items turn up on eBay like crazy! If there are kits to be had, especially oddball stuff that no one else made and not a repop, get ready to shell out some serious buck$$$! -

Just last week, the thought crossed my mind that if I want something else from Don and Carol, I better order it now. Sure enough, at our club meeting this past Saturday (CPMCC), it was announced that they would stop taking orders as of today. I'm glad I listened to that "inner voice" as I've been eyeing their '76 Cadillac Coupe DeVille for some time now. I bit the bullet and ordered it along with a couple other small items. I don't mind what will be a long wait........Lord knows I got enough stuff to build now until I'm no longer walking the earth. Unfortunately, you can best believe that there will be "those guys" that are buying huge quantities, only for it to show up on eBay for a ridiculous price at some point in the future as someone mentioned. Hopefully, they'll have a buyer waiting in the wings to take over, and put the kibosh on that sort of thing. I wish Don and Carol all the best! As they mention in their letter, they had no idea that this would turn into the monster it became! Just goes to show that quality sells, and sells well! They've been at the top of their game for many years now, and they deserve a much needed and earned retirement. -
I plan to detail the engine out as indeed from what I've seen of some of the build diaries on their forum, it's sorely lacking in even the basics------such as wiring for instance. And yes, that is part of the fun...........at least for me to have something that your average Joe won't have. I've paid about as much for models in smaller scales in the past...........in this case this would be for me a very long WIP, about but not as long as it took for me to build my '59 Impala. There are some much bigger details and working features that I'd like to add that I'm sure 99% of the folks building this won't do. Not to take away from their work, but the overall canvas of this car screams out for major things that can be done. Also, you can GUARANTEE that NONE of the major American kit makers will ever come out with a 1/8 scale '67 Shelby Mustang.

Ya gotta love this thing! This is WILD Roberto! And yes, I think the deeper offset rear wheels DO look a lot better! Your bodywork is flawless------One would think that this was a kit body already produced it's that nice! Keep up the fantastic work!

Skip, thanks a TON for that link you posted! Some VERY nice and detailed pics! I saved most of them, and they'll definitely come in handy someday when I decide to build the kit I have. -
Lacquer over Pledge Floor Care Finish?
MrObsessive replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
While I don't build cars particularly of this era-----they're not my specific cup of tea, THIS ONE IS GORGEOUS Harry! And yes, Future is at its best if you brush it on. I've airbrushed it, but you have to work fast and with low air pressure to keep runs and sags mostly at bay. In the past, I've used a "sponge" brush to put it on-----those can be found at any arts and crafts store and come in various sizes. The wider brushes do work best however. -
Sure is! I took the plunge and started my subscription, and I just got an email from ModelSpace yesterday that my order's been processed, and they'll let me know when the first parts are to be mailed. If you're interested, the ordering page is here. I've been looking at the other folk's WIP's on the ModelSpace forum, and while it looks to be a nice kit, there's soooo much than can be added to it in this scale, particularly in regards to the engine.

It's a curbside. The only one I know of that had a full engine version was one of Gunze's 250 GTO's. I once had the SWB kit, but sold it a while back and now kinda wish I kept it. I have Italeri's version though, and while nice, it doesn't give you those gorgeous Borranis. Edit: Norm Veber of Replicas and Miniatures once offered a V-12 engine that could be made to fit this kit. I don't know if Norm still offers it as I bought one from him------but that was several years ago. That engine kit is a VERY detailed kit in itself though!

Can't forget The CBS Radio Mystery Theater! There are some episodes on YouTube, but I have all the shows that ran from 1974-82 on CD's. Makes for some interesting listening, and some of the shows have the commercials on them that originally aired on the broadcasts. Some of them are a scream! -

Nice work! I did one of these years ago, and no, they're NOT for the faint of heart! Probably one of Johan's best kits ever IMO. They were way ahead of their time as far as detail was concerned. -
Lacquer over Pledge Floor Care Finish?
MrObsessive replied to aurfalien's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Yes, I stand by Future as my go to item when I need to prevent something from crazing or bleed through. BIN Zinsser Sealer is another good one, and it's what I actually prefer to use as it's easier to apply with an airbrush than the Future-----especially for bodywork. Another thing I found out about Future.......for some reason super glue doesn't play nice with Alclad paint----at least the times I've used it. I use super glue sometimes to fill in sink marks and whatnot on exhausts and such, and when Alclad is airbrushed over it, it tends to show through. Brushing a coat or two of Future stops that in its tracks so I recommend it for that also. -
Very Nice! One of Ferrari's prettiest designs ever!

Rob, the only '58 T-Birds I've seen were the ones from Monogram. Not sure about AMT------Monogram's reissued theirs so many times I've lost count! -

Sigh......... Another compelling reason why I've stayed single! I couldn't stand the drama at this late date. Just the same, kudos to you fellas that have to deal with "why are you doing that??" routine. There are times I have to admit that I want COMPLETE silence! No music, radio, TV, cats, people.
