  1. Sigh..............why oh why this car has been ignored by almost everyone confounds me still. True there's been some neat diecasts of this car, but you would think that since this is the car that was responsible for the production Stingray we've all come to know and love, you'd THINK that there'd be at least a kit made of it. But no...............
  2. I thought it was Shawn Carpenter that offered that one a while back but I'm not sure. That would be a nice one to come out as a regular kit since AMT for instance already has the basics, but I'm not holding my breath.
  3. Yeah, that's one I've thought about buying and building, but it's what you mentioned that's put me off. Yet something else I'd have to fix if I wanna be happy with it.
  4. Absolutely Beautiful Jürgen! You made the small details really come alive for this one-----that color is a super knockout! Your 1:1 is gorgeous as well! That gen Viper is also my dream car, although I'll never part with my Challenger if I ever do get one! One of these days.........
  5. David, that does look better! Since you're leaving the frame black, I wouldn't worry too much about the slight underhang of the floor. The main thing is that the car's stance looks better as before it was sitting a bit too nose high. As far as why we go through the trouble? I dunno..........to me models can represent more than just something else to put on the shelf. To me they mean some certain part of the past (childhood for instance) that of course we can't go back to, but at least we have a much more accurate representation of how the car appeared as we saw them as kids, teens, or young adults. It just bugs me to no end when certain body lines aren't quite right as to me that changes the entire "character" of the car. Kinda like a remake of a song that while the melody is familiar, certain things that made the original have that "it" factor are missing from the remake.
  6. What Tim just posted is quite true and relevant. PayPal is pretty much the way anyone should go these days when buying something online. Some cringe at that as they don't like paying over the 'net, but in today's world with a lot of hucksters out there, it's a good way for having at least a digital trail. You get emails from PayPal (I keep mine in a dedicated folder on my system) and you have a trail of when the transaction was fist made, to how long it's been since you've been waiting. I especially like PayPal's "Pay after Delivery" system where they don't charge your account for two weeks after you've made the transaction. Not everyone though has that option through PayPal.........foreign sellers for instance mostly do not. I recently had a similar incident on eBay where I bought something through PayPal, and I never got it. I was patient as I waited something like three weeks for this guy to follow through, but all I kept getting were promises to ship but the item still never showed up on my doorstep. I filed a complaint with PayPal, and within a couple days I got my money back, and this character had his account yanked off of eBay. Like it or not fellas, that's the world we live in today.............
  7. Beautiful car Raoul! Actually, when I first saw pics of your model, I thought it WAS the Revell kit! Very nice conversion, and whoever did the convertible master did a great job as they got those rear quarters correct. They're not quite the same between the coupes and convertibles.
  8. Welcome aboard and WOW! What a TERRIFIC finish on that Ferrari!
  9. Sounds like you put the Tamiya primer over the enamel without first stripping it, and that's a big no-no. Lacquers don't play nice laying over enamel, where the reverse can be no problem with enamel over lacquer. Why it didn't happen to the dash, I don't know. It's best to strip everything as you're doing and try it again. I'd let the primer dry for a couple days to be on the safe side before painting over it. I take it that you spray bombed the paint? If so, go easy with very light coats to prevent the solvents from penetrating too deep in the paint. Hope this helps!
  10. Ok! I've run into a similar situation and here's the stats on what I'm using............ Dell tower and Laptop OS = Windows 10 on both machines (very recent install) Browser = Chrome on both The situation I've had is that for some reason, every once in a while, I'm "logged out". I mean TOTALLY blocked by my WiFi's network where I can't get on the site at all! What I have to do is log in through my iPhone on the 4G network, log back out on 4G, and then jump on my WiFi (Comcast) and then the problem clears up. It's weird because I had this happen on "the other board", where I kept getting a server timed out message-----and wasn't till I really put my computer geek hat on tight that I came up with this solution. Seems as though when/if the WiFi senses a problem, it'll lock all the devices out of this site including my phone and tablet. When the site recognizes that a different device is logging on through a different IP addy, it then "allows" the other devices back on the site. Kinda convoluted, but that's the best way I can explain it. You might have try to sign in on another device, through another network (4G as opposed to WiFi) and then log out on the same. Log back in through the WiFi, and the problem may clear itself up. If you're not able to reply to messages, the server logged you off, and you have to sign in again perhaps using the method I described. Hope this helps...........it is mighty frustrating as I had this happen just a couple days ago, and I was in the middle of trying to post a message when the server decided to "log me off".
  11. Tom, months ago I brought up this very item in this thread here. There were quite a few suggestions----perhaps one of them might work for what you need. Hope this helps!
  12. Tom, I know of no one casting the top, but there might be someone willing to part out the recent Revell Olds Cutlass convertible kit. I hear that should fit fairly well. If the top that Missing Link uptop is the same one I have, I believe it's a bit too big for the Chevelle. It appeared to me to be 1/24 scale where as the Chevelle is 1/25, and a bit on the small side at that.
  13. Curtis, I was so impressed by your build of this car, that I had this on my watch list on eBay. Well, as luck would have it, I was at the right place at the right time, and I snagged this gem off of there at a TERRIFIC price! Just goes to show that there can be great deals to be had off of the 'Bay if one is willing to be patient and see what happens. I remember when Tamiya offered this kit some 20 odd years ago, but for whatever reason I never bought it. Your car changed my mine how nice these can be! EXCELLENT, excellent work on this! I'm sure the person that got it will be more than happy! I'm not so sure I'd want to part with such a nice car after doing that kind of work to it though!
  14. Now Steve, I gotta say.................That IS nice!! Hmmm.............
  15. Same here. Phones and tablets are nice, but when it comes to typing (especially email) nothing beats a good 'ole fashioned keyboard! As far as the Volare...............I dunno. I wasn't that crazy about the car when they were new. They were part of everything that was wrong with Detroit during the "malaise era". Looking back at 'em today, they'd probably make an interesting kit. If nothing else, they'd could always be my slump buster not if, but when the time comes!
  16. Dan, don't change the roof on account of me! It's all painted and prettied up, you don't want to tempt fate and try to "fix" it lest Murphy's Law comes into play------I know that one all too well! Thanks for the compliment about the '59's cover shot! I wasn't expecting it as it caught me by surprise as someone had the latest SA at the last club meeting. That convertible body lends itself to some other neat conversions. For instance, if you can get the roof sections, you can fairly easily make two and four door sedans out of it as they pretty much shared the same tulip panel and trunk. I have a couple four door flattop roof sections from The Modelhaus that I may get brave someday and turn the convertible kit I have into the Impala Sport Sedan. Keep up the neat work!
  17. Lookin' Mighty Excellent Cruz! I built Tamiya's version of this many years ago, and it didn't turn out this nice! And yes, that is a tough color to get to come out right. Your friend oughta be mighty proud of this!
  18. Very interesting! Somewhere on the 'net (I don't remember where) I saw pics of '59's particularly Pontiacs, done up by GM in this type roofline. For whatever reason, the idea was nixed and it didn't catch on till GM was ready to style the '62's. Your idea is not that for off! The only thing I might change if it were mine is perhaps change the upper window line to be a bit straighter to represent a hardtop a bit more.
  19. BEAUTIFUL shade of blue on that Steve! I see you're using Tamiya's Paint Stand-----aren't those neat?
  20. Well, I guess I'd have to call myself an "advanced" builder. I have advanced in quotes because there are some things I haven't tried yet as far as building/painting, and there's always room to learn something new. Yeah, I do get a bit crazed when it comes to certain body lines and whatnot-----that's only because I like to build the car as I can remember them as a kid (if the car's out of the '50's-'70's), and to obviously match pics I have. Not always the kit makers "interpretation" of what the car should be.
  21. I want to add that if I were building this '68, there are some changes I'd make to the body alone. First is that front end! The grille shape never looked right to me, and there's something about the overall shape of the roof scoops that doesn't sit right with me. As was mentioned, using AMT's really nice newer tool '67 Mustang kit would be the way to go if you want a nice '68 for the chassis and engine compartment bits and pieces. That would be what I would do, but not everyone's as insane as I am!
  22. GMP once upon a time sold a '67-'68 Shelby wheel set that looked like these................... This is on a 1/24 '67 Shelby diecast I have from GMP, and I have a set of those wheels that look exactly like this. Unfortunately, these wheels are practically unobtainium, as I've NEVER seen them turn up on eBay, and if they did-----be prepared to probably break the bank! The set I have is going on my next WIP..........the '68 Shelby "Green Hornet", and while these wheels are not 100% totally accurate, they're miles ahead of what you get in the '66 Mustang kit. If I get the nerve someday, I have a set of those '66 kit wheels-----I'd like to play around with them to see how if at all they can be corrected. That's something that's sorely missing in the aftermarket!
  23. I was a big Firefox supporter when they were hitting the 'net back in the early '00's, but over the years their software has become quite buggy, and I had a "crash" with them a year or so back. I switched to Chrome, and have had no such issues. I even had my bookmarks migrated to Chrome, and all's good. To make things even better, I just switched both my PC and laptop to Windows 10, with the PC getting a couple extra GB's of RAM to boot! I even got fancy and put in a new 500 GB hard disc in the PC, and she's like brand new! Yeah.........ain't 2016 technology grand, but there's no putting that Genie back in the bottle..........
  24. Ain't that the truth!
  25. Can you dig it??
