"All New All Over Again!" Nice work! At least you got yours done...........I'm still plugging away at mine little by little.
-
I would like to see any mid/late '50's Cadillac. A '57 Eldorado hardtop or convertible would be nice-------a '56 Coupe/Sedan de Ville would be nicer! No '59's........they've been done to death! And yes, any '61 GM B-Body bubbletop would be super!
-
Too many projects going on.
MrObsessive replied to Ramfins59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Most of the time I work on just one. Lately however, I've got at least three going. The '59 Impala, one for a possible article for MCM, and another which is super secret for the time being. It's hard for me to focus on more than one at a time because of the way I build, but right now's the exception. -
John, I'd like to see convertible variations of all of the new releases. Especially the '61 Pontiac and '65 Belvedere. In the future, it would be nice if Moebius would focus on more vehicles from the independents. An up to date '68-'70 Javelin/AMX, 1957-58 Studebaker Golden Hawk just to name a couple.

Yeah, and prices of those original '61 Ponchos should start dropping like a rock too! Never mind the fact that those were Bonnevilles and these are the shorter Ventura and Catalina-------it's nice to see someone else do an early '60's GM B-body with a lot of the extra detail that we want these days.
-
John, any word on release dates for any of the new kits??
-
I'm surprised that there's a '61 Catalina in the mix!! That's big news to me as I was just expecting the Ventura. I may pick up both of them as I've been impressed with their '56 Chrysler 300B which I picked up not long ago. I do hope they get that bubbletop roofline right on the Ponchos...........IMO no one has ever done that totally correct, and that includes the original annuals.

Stand up and take a bow John! That is truly gorgeous!

Buried Belvedere

 -
Johan. The only company that made it, and IIRC, it never was reissued-------thus the crazy prices!
-
Steve, good to see this one being built! I have one of these too, but it's anyone's guess as to when I'd ever get around to building it. And yes, these are rare. If/when they do show up on eBay, there's a feeding frenzy in regards to bidding! I've seen some of these go for really crazy prices! Look no further than what the promos are selling for...............it can literally empty out your wallet.

GM seeking protetion from Lawsuits
MrObsessive replied to Madd Trucker's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Just got a notice in the mail today letting me know that the parts are now available (I have a Saturn Ion Coupe). Now the next trick is trying to carve out some time to get the car in to have the switch replaced--------among hundreds/thousands of others waiting in line. Not to mention, there's ANOTHER recall looming regarding the electric power steering. I can imagine that the wiper drive system might soon need recalled as well. Recently my wipers failed going down the highway at 60 MPH! Why did this happen you wonder?? Because some bean counter decided that they could save some money by making the hinges out of plastic instead of metal. You know-----to save a few bucks here and there? Never mind the many accidents I've read about regarding this failure at the worst time! IMO, they should have never left the factory that way! I've since replaced the entire wiper drive with METAL ones and not the cheap plastic junk that the dealer wanted to put in, Looks like I'll be keeping this one forever.......GM with their poor QC has effectively brought the resale value of my car down to practically zero. -
Love those late 70 "Theme" Cars?
MrObsessive replied to Erik Smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
OK, call me weird-----but I always thought these were kinda cool......... A 1977-78 Datsun 200 SX. Genuine hardtop styling, rear wheel drive, easy to work on, what's not to like? -
Love those late 70 "Theme" Cars?
MrObsessive replied to Erik Smith's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wow! I haven't seen one of those for a loooong time! I was getting out of high school back when those were new, and I had a teacher that had one. She loved it! I do miss the small, compact rear wheel drive car..........I rue the day when everything went front drive. More expensive to work on, and a lot more troublesome to fix. -
Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
MrObsessive replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The reason I noticed it because it was used over Krylon White, which is a REALLY bright white. I had put the body in the dehydrator immediately after I airbrushed the Future, and after letting it sit in there for maybe an hour, I noticed that the white had a slight yellowish tinge to it. I stripped it to start over, and sure enough the nice bright white returned. It came to mind that maybe I should let things sit for a spell before putting it in, and the next time it came out fine. -
Scale Calculator? How about this one.
MrObsessive replied to fantacmet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sadly Bill, with our education system in this country today, it's no wonder that people don't understand basic things such as math, reading and writing. I could go on and on, but look how folks today communicate in the written word. I read a story the other day in the local news that had many spelling errors------this apparently written by a "professional" that's supposed to know the basics of the English language, and have SOME understanding of good sentence structure. I blame it on the general "dumbing down" of society that's been in full swing since the '80's. -
Food Dehydrators & Paint Dryers
MrObsessive replied to JayVee's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Adam, I've put models in the dehydrator that were cleared in Future. One of them is pictured below............. I built this back in 1993-94, long before the Mach 5 kit was available. One caveat is you can't put the Future in right away, as it can tend to yellow somewhat in areas where it has "pooled". I'd wait maybe an hour to let it set up, then put it in the dehydrator. As you can see, the model's a little worse for wear as the decals are starting to split, and the build itself is a little crude compared to how I would do it today. Hope this helps! -
Transfering programs to a new computer?
MrObsessive replied to JollySipper's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
You can also get a nice, huge GB thumb drive to move things as well. Sometimes when you try to move programs from one PC to another, the programs may not want to cooperate. There are also some programs where you'll need the product key (usually on the disc or sent in an email), in order to reinstall the program. Better to have the original disc and reload it to be on the safe side. If it was downloaded from the 'net (and you saved the setup file), I would simply load the file onto the thumb drive, and then reinstall the file/program on the new PC. If you don't have the setup file, you can always go back to that site and get the .exe file. You'll also at least have the latest and greatest update from them. Hope all this helps! -

# Houndstooth Upholstery Pattern *Decals*
MrObsessive replied to 1972coronet's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
John, years ago I got some decal patterns from Scale Motorsports. If you click here, I see he has a type of houndstooth that you may like. Hope this helps! -
Phew! That WAS quite a list! Some great gems on there, and I'd like to see more than a few of them! One car I didn't see (at least this particular year), was the 1957-61 Facel Vega. I saw what looked like a '62 on there, but that's a different car.

These are loooooong overdue!! They would definitely be great sellers!
