  1. I'm not much into lowriders but WOW! That is a very nice '59! Did you use bead wire (or other type of wire) for the separation of the tail-light lenses? The chrome on those look fantastic! Much better than BMF!
  2. Gorgeous build Jim!! I'm very familiar with Corvairs (all types) as they were part of my childhood growing up in the '60's-'70's. I had an Uncle that I swear owned every model Corvair that Chevrolet made at one time or another-----although he didn't have a Stinger! I love the color combination, and I have to admit I don't think I've ever seen one in that combo. Very striking!
  3. I may be wrong, but I think Mini Exotics may be out of business. If someone in the know could confirm or deny that------that would be good. I thought that they went out of business a few years ago.
  4. For those of you that want to do what Bill suggested--------you would go under Tools in Firefox, and click on Add Ons, from there another window, (or tab) will pop up. From there, you want to click on "Plug-Ins" and scroll down. Click the disable button on the other Java programs that Bill mentioned------and that should do the trick. I wasn't having a problem on my version of Firefox, but I went ahead and disabled the other Java software that was running, and so far I've had no trouble. Thanks for the tip Gramps!
  5. Someone once mentioned putting mineral spirits in the glued area. I haven't tried this, so I can't speak for its effectiveness. You also might try dunking the entire model in water, put the model in a plastic baggie, and then freezing it. Essentially, ice expands which might break apart the glue joints. Hope this helps!
  6. Ahhhh.....that explains it! I had to open up the pic to full size, and then copy and paste the image location (after right clicking) in the image box........and then the pic showed up while I was composing my response. Thanks for the tip Skip!
  7. This is just my way of doing things, but I would have totally stripped that body of paint before I attempted to cut the doors open. This saves a lot of trouble and grief when you repaint later, also there's going to be a LOT of body work (putty, filling scratches, etc...) to be done while doing this. Just a suggestion as you've mentioned you're new..........ambitious start BTW........good luck!
  8. I use Fotki mainly, but I do use Photobucket when Fotki is ill. Here's a pic from Photobucket................. However, I have to open up the pic to full size, and then copy and paste the image location to get it to show here with the HTML setup this board now has. Harry, at least on my setup (PC and Laptop) I have to click on the image code to get it to copy. Perhaps Macs are a bit different than Windows based OS's?
  9. Looking at the rocker panels, is the ribbed rocker molding to be a separate chrome piece?? I don't see it molded in the body there............ If it is, that'll make an easier conversions to a '61. Edit: Never-mind, I see it in the previous test shot pic.
  10. Every '62 Corvette I've ever seen (as a kid in the '60's and currently) had body colored hardtops. As I mentioned in a previous post, Chevrolet was getting away from two-toning come '62, as you could no longer get the two toning in the cove area. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen a stock '56-'60 'Vette's hardtop any other color but body color.
  11. I second what George told you! You won't have to deal with the dissimilarities between resin and plastic, and it'll save you some extra gray hairs! Plus if you want an up-top to go with that convertible, you could always fashion the roof off the '66 for it.
  12. Yes, and IIRC, the first Vipers ('93-'95?) were considered roadsters due to them having side curtains and not roll up windows until the later ones.
  13. Ahhhh...........last of the really good T-Birds! They just got too fat and bloated after that until the '80's. Very nice build Sam----and I never knew that the '66 used the interior out of the '64! I have both the '64 (built) and the '66 (unbuilt) and I never paid attention to that.
  14. Randy, seems as though you don't add them from online..........as I type this I'm creating an album now in the Gallery. You first have to create an album, then add photos from your hard disc. If you have the photos on Photobucket, then they should already be on your hard disc. You did mention that your notebook is recently new--------were the pics uploaded on Photobucket from another PC? If so, then of course you'd have to save them again to your new hard disc, then transfer those to your gallery here. Hope this helps!
  15. Hmmm.............I just changed my avatar pic from what it was previously..........No issue on my end.
  16. Under your profile settings when you click on "Browse"-------somewhere in your hard disc where you keep your pictures, select a folder and pick out a photo, Now mind you, the photo has to be within the parameters of what the avatar calls for (200 pixels or larger) and you can adjust or crop as needed. As Dick said, avatar pics are taken from your hard disc.
  17. Just an observation: If the glass for the hardtop pictured there is indeed lifted from the '59----- it won't be correct. In the 1:1 world, the "glass" (actually Plexiglas) was interchangeable for the '56-'60 hardtops, but due to the flatter convertible top lid of the '61-'62, the rear quarter glass and backlite had to be changed as well. Plans are still being finalized so I hope there's a hardtop or soft top. If not, that won't stop me from buying one-----I'll just find a junker hardtop out of the old AMT kit.
  18. GM by '62 was trying to get away from the "fifties" look of two tones, excessive chrome, and wide white walls. Actually the Big Three were all doing this, as tailfins were all but gone by '62. Chevy by '62 was probably trying to warm up the crowd of what was to come for '63-----even though the "ducktail" look was intro'd the previous model year, and the basic body shell dates back to '53.
  19. Yeah it sure is Virgil! One thing about that era of cars is there was no mistaking what you were looking at as they passed by!
  20. Maybe it's my sight, but it looks like it's there to me. That's an important to detail to miss if isn't there-------that's what made that little "bump" in the trailing edge of the hardtop and soft top unlike the '56-'60 model years.
  21. I was about to do that very thing, 'cept I wanted to make mine a '61. I'll wait and see what the new tool looks like------if it's as nice as the '58-'59 kits (I have both), it should be a winner.
  22. Very Nice Andy! That top looks really good with it up! Hard to get those straight without that forward section looking "bent".
