  1. That is one of the nicest '60 Fords I've seen on this board! Great color, and one not too often seen even in the 1:1 world.
  2. Excellent wood work! That's something I could never get the hang of! Keep it going!!
  3. Tamiya acrylic clear will do the same thing (cracking) if the color coat is not cured thoroughly. I've used Tamiya acrylic clear in the past for clearcoats with no cracking issues, but I do make sure the paint is completely dry. As far as using Future for a clear topcoat, I'm not that impressed by it either. Seems a bit too thin for that use----however it makes a great barrier coat for sealing that nasty red or yellow plastic.
  4. Wow, I'm so sorry for your loss! I had to put my KitKat down the day after Thanksgiving in '09. Still hurts to this day as he was also a rescue from a lady I worked with who could no longer keep him. He was only 8 years old, but he was suffering from liver failure among other troubles........I at least had him for a happy seven years. I've since gotten another cat, but while she's no replacement for him------at least it does ease the pain as she was also a rescue. It also gives my other cat a playmate, even though he's getting on in years now, and I don't look forward to the day I'll have to let him go. Now I'm as tough as the next guy, but when I had to put my Kitkat down.....I sobbed like a baby in the Vet's exam room and pretty much all the way home. Folks who don't own pets don't quite understand.........it's unconditional love a pet gives you unlike what you receive (or not) from another human being. The fact that cats and dogs are so innocent and depend on us totally, makes it tough for me to understand why anyone would want to hurt them. Hang in there my friend..........take the time to grieve. Later on, you'll find yourself attached to another pet that would be happy to have you as their owner.
  5. Very Nice! One of my favorite cars of the '80s! GM's Bill Mitchell was chided for dreaming up such a design just before he retired.......but it certainly was distinctive, and there was no mistaking what it was coming down the road.
  6. Ha! Here in Central PA, we're not going to get out of the 20's today if we're lucky! I still have no furnace in my place due to the bank draggin' their feet so the contractor can start the work. Thank goodness for space heaters-------I'm gonna hate to see the electric bill later though!
  7. Wow! My first build was nowhere near what you turned out! That's nearly 35 years ago, and I didn't start to get reasonably good at it till years later. Congratulations! Very, very clean build!
  8. I believe that to be the case, and I can recall a few auctions where that very thing has happened. Admitted after the fact though.
  9. I've learned over the years that eBay is a lot like catchin' the bus.........you miss the first one, and another one will be by shortly. In any event----------"Patience is a virtue".
  10. Well you know what they say............................ I V V V V V V V V
  11. I dunno...........something about that body thickness around the wheelwells screams model to me. It could be the way the body work was on the 1:1 though. Nice racer real or model!
  12. :D Now if I can get the hood situation straightened out on the 442, I'll be all set! I do have another model in the pipeline that I haven't posted yet. I may tease it down the road as I do have the engine done on it.
  13. I don't mean to sound contrary..............but since when are initials a full name?? Kinda hard to hide who I am...........I've been all over the model mags in years past, and I'm hard to miss if you see me at a show!
  14. John, are you using Fotki's "copied" URL in the image field when you click the image icon? Fotki has it now that when you hit the "share" button------there is a drop down menu of different URL's for different web formats. You want to use the first one for posting here. I copied and pasted your original URL's into the image icon fields, and they showed up right away in the text box as I was typing.
  15. John, I'm not sure what's happening, but here's your post again with the pics. Looking great!!
  16. Sure did! It's old now as I built it back during 1998-99. Mine had been "tweaked" a bit as I didn't use all the parts from Italeri. It has a mix of stuff from Replica's and MIniatures, Detail Master, and some of my own doing. Forget the ESCI one! It has more problems than a preacher! The body isn't quite right and the detail is dubious at best. Good to see ROG intro some other more modern Ferraris as well! That 599 looks to be the one to get. Now if they can just see fit to reissue that BMW 850i...................
  17. Rob, the 250 SWB looks to be the Italeri reissue according to ROG. That's a MUCH nicer kit than the hoary Esci one. A bit simplified, but builds up very nice when some time and research are done to it.
  18. That would be great if there was a kit of that! That was my Driver's Ed car when I was a junior in high school minus the T-Tops of course. I always liked those better than the woefully shrunken '78's.
  19. Yeah, the hardtop's roof is shorter (longer tulip panel) than the sedan. I've seen guys try to add a B pillar to the hardtop to make a sedan before the AMT kit came out, and it just didn't look right. Chevy no doubt made the hardtop's roof shorter to enable the rear quarter windows to roll all the way down. In the sedan, the windows stick up slightly when rolled down, due to the wheel wells intruding on the space needed to clear the window mechanism due to the longer quarter windows and thus longer roofline.
  20. Thanks for the replies folks! In the next couple days I'll give them a call to see what's up. This is the first I've had an issue on this order and as Mike said, it could be just human error. We'll see..........
  21. Michelle that may explain it. I've not been selling all that long comsidering, and that may be the case here. I don't know of an action against me.........the last item I sold (it was a major purchase for the buyer) was back in September, and the buyer was from Europe. He left positive feeback for me, so it was all good.
  22. Casey, I've never had a problem buying or selling on eBay, nor have I ever had any problems with a seller having to collect. My feedback is 100% and has been so since I started with eBay in 2002. BTW, my handle is Obssesivebldr if anyone is interested. I can see PayPal's case in trying to hold funds, but to arbitrarily single out my account is puzzling to me. I may give them a call to see what exact instance led them to decide this................but I'm not sure I'll get far.
  23. I just received this email from PayPal, and all I can do is shake my head! In effect what they're telling me is that starting in January, anything I sell will have the monies held in a "hold" for up to 21 days to cover potential refunds or disputes. Are they kidding me?? In other words, my money is being held hostage until PayPal deems it "appropriate" to let me have my money. No wonder eBay is on the slide! Here's the email that was sent to me.............. Hello William E Geary Jr, We're writing to let you know about a change to your PayPal account. Starting 1/18/2012, money from payments you receive will be placed in a pending balance for up to 21 days. By doing this, we're making sure that there's enough money in your account to cover potential refunds or claims. Even though you can't access the money right away, please ship orders quickly and communicate with your customers. After 21 days, you can withdraw money from each payment as long as the customer hasn't filed a dispute, chargeback, claim, return, or reversal. The money may be available sooner if: We can confirm that the item was delivered. Your buyer leaves positive feedback. (Applies only to eBay items) This change isn't necessarily permanent. We'll review your account every 35 days and re-evaluate if we should continue to hold your payments. If we decide to stop holding payments, we'll email you to let you know. Why are my payments being held? We reviewed your account and determined that there's a relatively higher than average risk of future transaction issues (such as claims, or chargebacks, or payment reversals). We understand that it may be inconvenient to have your payments temporarily held but please know that we didn't make this decision lightly. Before deciding to hold payments, we consider many factors. These factors include account and transaction activity, the rate of customer disputes, the type of business a seller runs, average delivery timeframes, customer satisfaction, performance and history. Questions? Let us know We understand you’d like to have immediate access to the money you receive and we’re here to answer your questions about this change to your account. For more information and tips on what you can do to avoid having your future payments held, please see our Frequently Asked Questions. To speak to a Customer Service representative, log in to your PayPal account and click “Contact Us” at the bottom of any page. Thanks, PayPal Please do not reply to this email. This mailbox is not monitored and you will not receive a response. For assistance, log in to your PayPal account and click the Help link in the top right corner of any PayPal page. To receive email notifications in plain text instead of HTML, update your preferences. Now there's a possibility that this is a "phishing" scam, and I ain't bitin'! Nevertheless, if this email is accurate.........well they're going to have quite a few unhappy customers. So how many of you have got this same email and are as irritated as I?? Will you do any further selling on eBay? After January, I may think long and hard!
  24. Like Mike, I'm also seeing reappearing trim from where you sanded. As he mentioned, you can sand this till you're old and gray, and the ghosting will always reappear as the solvents in the paints will cause this to do so. The only sure fire way to get rid of the ghosting is a trick I learned from Ted "Chopper" Lear years ago. First, you want to sand away the trim as you've already done. Then, take some liquid glue (Ambroid Pro Weld is my favorite) and liberally spread the glue on the area you sanded using the brush they provide, or a beat up paint brush. Let this area thoroughly dry. When dry, you'll see how the area ghosted again------I know of no hotter solvent than liquid glue itself. You can then sand away again carefully------you've now taken the memory away from that area, as you'll see when you paint or if you want to test it, spread liquid glue on that same spot and SHAZAM! No more ghosting! For some extra insurance, you may want to spray on a few coats of Future, but I don't think you'll need to after doing this. I've been using this method, and I've seldom had an issue with reappearing scripts, or trim, or mold lines for that matter. Hope all this helps!
