  1. Also, when I get a bit more sophisticated, I may move the whole blogging site to my own web page and away from the clutches of Google, YouTube, Etc.......... That will take some time though as this is just a chance to get my "feet wet" so to speak. BTW, I've done an update to the blog..............
  2. Yes, I do get an email whenever someone makes a comment on the blog. The template that Gmail uses though doesn't allow for subscribing, I would just check in from time to time to see what's new. I may also post what I'm building here, but in a much more abbreviated form. It's a lot of work to format and upload everything to boot, and that time could be used for building. Usually Sundays are the best day for me as there's not a whole lot going on with me then...........more than likely early in the morning if I'm up to it. You can subscribe to My YouTube channel as whenever I get a chance to do a video, it'll be there if it's on my blog. My handle there is MrObsessive, the same as it is here. Thanks for checking it out Jim!
  3. Sure Jim, the URL was in my original post, but here it is again.............. http://mrobsessive.blogspot.com/ I'm about to do an update as it will be soon lights out for me as I've got to go into work early tomorrow. Thanks for checking it out!
  4. Yeah you're right Harry.........that's the line in mike on my laptop that's giving me trouble and I'm not sure why. I do have another video cam that I have to use for close-up video shots that I'm about to post and the audio is clearer on that. May be time for a new driver or something for the microphone sound card or something. I also have a video recorder called a "Vado" which I may try to use as well. Looks like there's a lot to pick up on as time goes on!
  5. Ditto the above comment! I thought I was insane! Good to know there are some other insane ones on the board! Keep up the super excellent work! I'm saving this thread as a PDF as it's updated........lots of potential tips here!
  6. Well, I've thought about this for awhile, and I've decided to take the plunge. I've started a blog! Actually this was recommended to me by a relative of mine since they've seen the kind of work I do, and also they know that I can be handy with the printed word when I want to be. So-------I've taken the first step, and made my first post. Now this doesn't mean I won't be posting projects here...........it may mean I won't detail every step as I'll be doing that on my blog. As time allows, I'll update it from time to time, and there will be some video that will go along with some steps of how I do things. Don't expect super-duper high studio quality from the videos.........I'm still a bit of an amateur when it comes to things like that. If you want to check it out, just click http://mrobsessive.blogspot.com/ Feedback is welcome, however rude ones will get thrown into the cyber byte bucket so be nice.
  7. This is a great tip! Especially for those who aren't adept to bending clear stencil sheet for wraparound windshields or backlites like your '58 Edsel. One of my MAJOR pet peeves in a lot of American kits is the way too thick clear "glass" that they include. There are certain kits I won't build for that very reason-----(AMT '57 Chrysler comes to mind). I'm certainly saving this whole thread for future reference. It will come in very handy down the road! I personally think a heat gun (or hair dryer) might be a better idea for most. Sure it's slower, but it's also safer especially for novices who aren't familiar with using a mini torch properly.
  8. That's a new one for me as well--------I've never seen that version of Abarth before! Very, very nice, and the engine looks great in that scale.
  9. Absolutely Insane!! :o
  10. Mark, that paint looks great on that little car! What shade of blue is that for the '69 Gulf cars? I'd like to find something similar someday for a resin build.
  11. Yeah, higher res would have been nice! As far as the red concept next to the Firebird Kammback wagon------that looks like the old Pontiac Banshee out of the '70's. There were several versions of Banshees and this one looks to be about mid '70's era. I think this is the car you were seeing............. The front end somewhat predicted the '77-78 Firebirds it seems.
  12. I literally did guffaw at that last line!!
  13. That looks for all the world like a TKM unit...........the one I saw on the Layitlow website, looked nicer to my eyes. Yes, I can remember very well when these cars were new as I was just out of High School then. Nothing said "You've Arrived" more than tooling around in one of these back in those days!
  14. Jim, click under the "help" tab at the top of your screen in Firefox. Click on the "About Firefox" heading, and there it will tell you which version you have.
  15. IIRC, square headlamps began to get wide use starting with the 1975 model year with GM's full sizers. The rest quickly followed suit as is usually the case with the auto industry in the next model year or two.
  16. Yes, Johan did make a '63 Chrysler, but they are rare and difficult to find these days. I don't think they ever reissued that one in their USA Oldies series. Check around on eBay-------they do turn up from time to time, but be prepared to cough up some bucks for one.
  17. Maybe they're doing some maintenance Jon? Fotki has been cantankerous as of late..............my subscription is due, but I think I'll start using Photobucket more and more. Less drama getting pics uploaded.
  18. Both the '65 Grand Prix and the Bonneville were part of that group also now that I remember.......
  19. IIRC, wasn't the '63 Ford part of this group also? I had one of those too at one time or another.
  20. I like CrazyJim's idea the best! I'm not so sure bursting cans is the way to go.....especially for young ones or newbies here on the board. I've used the funnel trick with those cone cups and the results have been satisfying. It's still a good idea after the paint is decanted to let it sit for a spell and gas out. Nothing more frustrating than to have those air bubbles make a surprise visit in your paint!
  21. I second that about the Testor's Spray! Better off to use the Model Master if it's available to you. As Harry said, it pays big dividends to dig in and do the research. You don't say, but if the model is for a show, trust me-----the judges will spot the differences in the shade of white as opposed to the 1:1. I don't know if you want to spend the bucks for it, but a local auto paint jobber can mix that paint for you. The difficulty is you'll have to buy the whole can and not the touch up amount. That might run you about $20+ and you more than likely will have paint left over. You can always use it for other projects though!
  22. I've used Polly Scale's Engine Black for the vinyl roof on my Turbine Car. It's great because it has just the right amount of sheen for vinyl to my eyes, and if you brush it on, leaves little to no brush marks if thinned properly.
  23. I try to change mine from time to time-------right now you see my nice smiling face in it!
  24. IIRC, the 356 Carrera Coupe was also sold in their own boxes as well.
