  1. Well, I finally got a chance to do a qiuck mock up of the plow, and if this is supposed to be an 84 inch plow, I'll eat my hat! Here is the main plow piece in front of an old Revell wrecker. Even though it's not the best pic, I measured the blade itself with my 1/25 scale ruler, and the blade is a scale 12 feet wide. You might still get it to work with modification, and here are a scan of the instructions of the rest of the bits and pieces.
  2. I've always been a Trans Am fan, but many of the earlier models have only been issued by MPC/AMT, and those are junk in my personal opinion. I'd like to see Revell modify the 1968 Firebird into the 69 Trans Am, the 1970 1/2 T/A into a 74 to 76 model, and also the 78 into a 79 to 81 version. I know that most all these years were offered by MPC, but like I said, those are junk in my opinion compared to the Revell offerings. If I remember, Monogram made a 79, but was a custom, I want a bone stock version and not based off a snap kit either. EDIT:Oh, and a new Type K Sportwagon would be nice, too!
  3. No, Justin, I'm not putting an interior in this one, the sleeper is glued and Bondoed shut. The next big custom in the brain will though, since I learned not to modify the kit sleeper anymore!
  4. Darcy, here's a few pics that might help answer most of your questions. The first one is the Revell of Germany trailer Chucky posted the pic of, loaded with a mix of 1/24 and 1/25 scale kits and diecasts, and being pulled by the Revell US Peterbilt 359. As for if a 1/25 scale trailer looks ok on a 1/24 scale tractor, like George said, there is not much difference at all. This is an Italeri 1/24 scale tractor and AMT 1/25 scale trailer together.
  5. Thanks, and no I did not make the fenders. They and the frame mounted toolboxes are from Eric at P&P Vintage Kits & Resin Works. Here's a link to his site: http://www.ppvintagekits.com/index.html He posts here under the screenname Porky and is great to deal with, and his parts are very nicely done.
  6. AMT does not have any current 1/32 scale rigs, the last I remember being issued from them was the Volvo V-10(?) tractor and Trailmobile reefer with the Coca Cola markings in the late 90s or early 2000s. As for Revell/Monogram, other than the Mack, they reissued the Kenworth T600 tractor just within the last year or two. It is still currently on Revell's website. The only other currently available 1/32 scale on Revell's website truckwise is the Mack fire engine.
  7. That's the reason I bought a laptop JUST for the model desk, not to mention when I'm not a the desk, I'm on my regular computer!!
  8. At least someone has the chance to be at the workbench! I've been fighting trying to save important files off my main computer after someone decided to hack my Hotmail account and send an email from it with a virus, which I accidentally clicked on while trying to find out who got the email so I could warn them it wasn't from me! Stupid hackers, thanks for making my life horrible! At least I've been able to get the main computer to work long enough to get my pics and reference materials to an external hard drive before I take it to my friend's to have it competely restarted.
  9. Even if the cab is not in resin, that mural would look nice on any custom rig!
  10. It's not a tutorial, but I have a few WIP pics for this Ford I'm working on. You can check out the thread here: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28849&st=0 I also have some other WIP pics not in that thread, since I started the build on another forum before posting it here too. I'll have to check that other thread to see if I mentioned what I used, but I know I cut the square tube in this pic in half to make the main frame stretch pieces.
  11. I'm pretty sure it's close. I'll try to get one mocked up later tonight or tomorrow and see.
  12. If you can find an extra someone's willing to part with, would the plow from this work? According to the box, it says it's and 84" wide plow, and from looking the kit over, it looks like it might fit a pickup well. One one of these, I'm even thinking of building a larger plow for the front and using the kit plow as a wing plow. Also, if you have any questions on plows or the salt spreaders, feel free to PM me, I used to drive plows for the WV DOT for a little while back in 2000 and 2001.
  13. If you got a big freezer, I have a ton of the real stuff outside I'll gladly send you!!!!!
  14. I like the idea, looking nice just the way it sits now. I've got to know, where did you get the light bar from? That is one of the nicest ones I've seen for a long time.
  15. Yep, but I never thought of using the spots for backing into holes!
  16. Justin, the Aerial is a radio antenna, AM/FM not CB. The spotlights are an option, even on today's 1:1 trucks, and typically are just on the driver's side usually. The main purpose is for maybe looking at a building to read an address or something like that, I never had any spots on any of the trucks I drove but I guess that would be a good use for them. As for the mirrors, I'll leave that up to Dave to help you with, since he's actually finished his! Nice job on it, by the way, Dave.
  17. Eric, will the hoods be available by themselves, too? I might finally be able to build the old Kenworth my brother drove.
  18. If you're talking about the yellow flag Jim, I'd say it's to mark the winch line going to the tree stump.
  19. Not a bad idea, Nick. As long as you don't click on the attachment like I accidentally did, you should be fine. As for me, I have to restart my main computer, and hope I haven't lost all my pictures and other important stuff forever! I called a few of my friends and family here and most have not even gotten it in their regular emails, it went to their junk email files.
  20. Oh, by the way the name will be from highwayf350, and according to the copy in my sent file, there is no subject.
  21. I just found out there was an email sent to all my contacts in my Hotmail account this morning just after 6:00 AM EST, which includes members from this forum. DO NOT OPEN IT, I DID NOT SEND IT!!! There is an attachment with it, and I believe it's not good, I accidentally opened it and my main computer is now locked up!!! The members of the forum in my contacts include Porky, cowboysevens, Harry P., zwitterman, Nick Winter, Ben Wicker, and tanarries. If you see this in your inbox, PLEASE DON'T OPEN IT, IT EVEN GOT PAST MY AVAST ANTIVIRUS! I have to call some other of my contacts to warn them also, and now restart the main computer.
  22. "Garbage" might have been a little harsh, but I still buy that "garbage", too! Hey, I resemble that remark!
  23. Peter and Ken, I also agree that there is demand for beginner articles, my main gripe is it really necessary to have an article EVERY month? I'm not against beginners or helping beginners, many times I'm the first to offer help here when a question comes up if I know the answer and feel I can help the one asking the question out. I just don't see the point of the articles in every issue, especially since SA also includes the suppliments covering the SAME topics. I know I have at least a forest's worth of those laying around myself. I just feel with the suppliments, the pages of the magazine itself could be better used to help everyone.
  24. Maybe both!
  25. Mark, that's nice if you're into that type of thing, but it's one thing I regularly skip over when reading SA. I faithfully read both magazines, and also Finescale Modeler even though I'm not a big plane and military modeler. I honestly only read Finescale to maybe learn some weathering techniques and to learn tips for a few of the non auto related builds I do have on my shelves, but back to the car magazines. First off, I'm enjoying Mark Taylor's articles the past few issues of MCM about resin, since I'm beginning to branch into using resin bodies for a couple planned builds, and they will be reference for when I do start those builds. Compare that to the wonderful trainwreck SA has been doing in every issue about beginner junk, yes that's fine if you are just starting out, but come on, I've known Xuron sprue cutters are the best way to remove parts from a sprue for years! Why dedicate pages EVERY MONTH on the basics most of us all ready know!? I'd rather spend my time reading articles like the two issue article by Randy Derr "Scratchbuilding School: Common Items, Uncommon Uses" instead because there were items mentioned there I never concidered before. Another thing most probably don't care about but is an interest to me is the heavy commerical truck area of the hobby, which SA has more or less said isn't important to them anymore by cutting it from a monthly article to an every other issue article. That means 3 articles per year, where with MCM Tim Boyd's "Truckers Corner" graces EACH ISSUE! Instead, SA would rather fill pages with junk like the "Spotlight" article the run every issue on a different builder, which I find as much of a trainwreck as the beginner stuff. I'm not saying it's not nice to see the models or spotlight the builder, but come on, do you really need to fill sometimes as many as 6 to 8 pages with that garbage!? Overall, I'm with the minority here that feels MCM is the better magazine. It's a much more well rounded magazine and offers me more useful information than does SA. I still buy both, but if it came to where I had to choose which magazine I could buy if I had money for only one, it would clearly be MCM coming home with me, and I say that not because I'm trying to kiss Gregg's you know what or earn Brownie points, that comes straight from this modeler's WALLET! I would rather wait for what I feel is the best than spend my last dollar on garbage!
