  1. I've been hitting the gas since a little past midnight last night. Gotta love sauerkraut and baked beans!
  2. Thanks for the info Rob. I have one of those but I never really paid much attention to it!
  3. Happy New Year, eh!
  4. Tim, all of them are beautiful as usual, but could you post a little more on the tan Pete triaxle? Also, the Pete with the livestock trailer, too? I don't remember seeing either of them. I had to do a double take with the livestock trailer rear 3/4 pic, I thought you snuck in a pic of a real truck! As for my 2010s, most of you probably already know what has consumed most of the year for me, my Ford LTL 9000 custom sleeper livestock hauler. I'm hoping to have it wrapped up soon in the first few months of 2011, as I have a full bench worth of projects for my Tractor Trailer Community Build here in the Community Build section.
  5. I like it Rob. I'm guessing the frame is scratchbuilt, but where did the hitch come from? It looks great!
  6. Did that too! Whereever it went, it's hiding good! I was back on the floor again and looked through the trash can even, and still couldn't find it. I did find a PE little tree air freshener I didn't even know I had and very tiny compared to the light, go figure! At least the truck will smell good!
  7. I thought of that, DW, but I guess I should have explained a little better, too. The carpet isn't a thick pile type, it's a low pile sorta like the rugs going into stores, so any dropped parts stay on top instead of sinking into it. Both me and the better half spent most of the night looking, it just took a bounce where it hid itself under something good, because we even moved all the boxes stacked in that area and nothing.
  8. Nope, Jim, no word, and from what Tony was saying, that sounds like a good reason why.
  9. Don't worry Justin, you aren't the only one fighting things tonight, I've been fighting the Carpet Monster, and he's won! I was drilling and installing clearance lights on the sleeper to match the cabs, and one of the posts holding the light snapped without me knowing, and the Carpet Monster ate that light before it even hit the floor! I've spent the better part of 5 hours crawling around on the floor around my desk and NOTHING! P.S. If anyone just happens to have spare light lenses from this or the Italeri/Revell Ford Aeromax they can spare, let me know please!!
  10. My class of 2010 is just a little different than everyone elses, and that's why I'm posting it in the "On the workbench" section. These are the dropouts from my Class of 2010, maybe they might be smart enough to make it in 2011! After starting this in the spring, you'd think it would have made it farther than this! This one hasn't made it any farther than this mock up idea. These were entries for the JDM community build here, they haven't made it much farther than the box, good thing the deadline was extended! I did get some paint on one of the interiors, though. Another thankful for an extended deadline, the Fox Ford CBP here. After six months, only an engine partitally built. Of course, most of those got shelved because I was building this for another CBP, and this one missed it's Dec. 1 deadline. Bessie Lou was really sad she wasn't going to California after all!
  11. By the way, here's the caliper, I figured I'd take a couple quick pics! It does the fractional and decimal measurements, and in both english and metric measurements. In case any of you were wondering where to get one like this, I pointed this out to the mother in law's little elf (my better half ) at Lowe's. If I remember correctly, this 3 inch model is $19.99, and they have a 6 inch model for $29.99. The 6 inch one has already been planted in everyone's head for my birthday in February!
  12. Even though it's a little late, here is my Christmas haul, thanks to some gift certificates to my favorite hobby shop! This was the only one Christmas morning, other than a digital fractional caliper I forgot to take a pic of. These were from the $45 in gift certificates. These I picked up in addiction, whoops, addition to the gift certificate buys, I just couldn't pass up the deals! The trailer, since the nice man at the hobby shop didn't want to try to put it back in it's place after checking the price for me, gave me a present of selling it for $30! As for the plow, I already had one I bought previously there, and at $27.48, I'd been crazy to pass on the other one! That was not a discount sale price either, that's their selling price! I bought both for less than retail for one kit!
  13. No offense taken here, either! The extended deadline didn't slow me down, I was slow way before that!
  14. I can't wait to see this one, Chris. Yeah Dennis, unless you're a Freightliner fan like me!!!
  15. Yeah, the wheels caught my eye too.
  16. I've seen the same, but a desk organizer sort of thing with areas for holding tools and such as well as the collars for holding paint and glue bottles made from scrap PVC plumbing pipe of various sizes.
  17. Very nice Alyn, but no fair throwing in a pic of the 1:1 engine!
  18. You mean something like these. I also found a photobucket link to the bright yellow one that has great detail shots of the equipment inside, if anyone is interested in it, just let me know. Klaus isn't the only one thinking of building one as a wrecker! Of course, I was kinda thinking of a custom like this one I found looking for the tow truck pics, too.
  19. Matt at Dencon Resin has a 1950 F8 "Big Job" cab that has an extended cab, could that be the one you're thinking of?
  20. Well said Harry, and in my opinion, point #3 has got to be the highest on my list. I, for one, am just happy that Moebius is not only giving car modelers subjects they want, but us truck modelers as well. I'm not saying the Hudson isn't a good subject, I plan on picking up a few of these when they hit the shelves, but I can guarantee I'll have all the new Lonestar truck kits I want on my shelf first. As for all the nonsense I read in this thread, I just don't see the point. It is nice we have knowledgable people here who did see somethings were not quite right, and moreover Dave and the others at Moebius are going to try their best to give us as correct of a model as they can. I believe I read in all the nonsense they, unlike the Lonestar truck, did not have a 1:1 to crawl all over and through, and could also explain why we truck modelers aren't having all the nonsense in the Lonestar's test shot thread like has been going on here. I've crawled over a Lonestar or two myself (what do you expect from a truck driver ) and Moebius hit the Lonestar out of the park! The only thing I could even say bad about the Lonestar is it would have been nice to see a rough treaded tire for the drive axles, but I can also see from the company's point of view that it is cheaper to have one mold for all tires instead of two separate molds, one for the steer axle tires and another for the rough tread drive tires, and having a steer type tire like the Lonestar has for all the tires is correct, too, since the 1:1 steer axle tires are considered an "all position" tire anyway. I'm just looking forward to both the Hudson and the Lonestar, sorry but the 300 just isn't my thing, and I already have plans for three of the Hornets, two of them will be done as these. I just have one added thought, and also another reason why I feel that point #3 is the highest on my list, Moebius not only cares about their products and customers, they will listen to their customers as well! I know many years I heard modelers in the former club in was in that focused on 50s subjects how much they wanted a Hudson, and Moebius is finally listening. Same goes for the scale truckers, I for one have been waiting for a modern truck, Moebius is answering the call. The fact that they seem to be in business for modelers can mean nothing but good things for us to come. Who knows, maybe the pickup crowd will finally get a modern pickup like a new Ford Super Duty or Dodge Ram Diesel dually, or maybe even a Honda Ridgeline? Maybe a 74-76 Firebird/Trans Am for the muscle car crowd? Maybe an E350 ambulance or moving van for the light commerical builder? Maybe a Freightliner Classic XL, Freightliner Coronado, Kenworth W900L, Peterbilt 389, or the newest Kenworth T600 for us truck builders? The possiblities are endless, and I'm sure if we show enough support for a subject, Moebius seems to me the company that will listen!
  21. I'm going to have to have a talk with USPS, those duallies were supposed to come to my house!!!
  22. Sounds like you need a few more trucks to keep you busy!
  23. Sorry I haven't been around for a few days, but between all the family stuff with Christmas and finding out Monday that a friend and fellow towing professional passed away on Christmas Day as a result of being struck by a car outside of his towing company's garage on Dec. 18, I just haven't been on much. Anyway, I'm back and going to get working on a few things soon, and I may also add some more projects to my already full desk and to the build. I'll have to see how things go with the already long list, but I might be adding a few tow trucks to the list as a tribute to my fallen towing friend, and I might also be adding a Kenworth W900 as well as a tribute to my brother who was killed in Oct 1992 in an accident, a project that I have wanted to do for many years, but had forgotten some details of his truck. After a nice chat with my niece on Facebook a few nights ago, we were talking about old times and I found she might have some pics of his old KW, so we are going to get together and see if I can find any good reference pics, and she wants me to build one for her, too. Ok, enough sad stuff, back to the build and some replies I have to catch up on. Thanks, Dave, since I don't have the space to go out, my only choice was up. Even though it does get cramped at times, I'm even amazed I have so much crammed in a space not much larger than the bed of my dually! I've got you updated, Brandon. Even though I seen the pics of the kits in another thread, don't forget to post some here, too, especially after you start on them!
  24. Hey Mike, thanks for waking up my brain!! I said Fujimi in my post when I was talking about the Aoshima kits, my bad!
  25. Believe me, I'm not changing the channel! Thankfully it sounds like we have a model company who will listen and possibly give us truck modelers kits we have wanted for years and give us more modern subjects to build.
