The Kit is Revell's Dodge Viper GTS with a front extended about 1/2 an inch (actual) and a corvette L88 scoop grafted to the hood. I used some dry-transfer decals from a set for Pine Derby cars (they have a lot of really good decals for these cars) for the word on the door. It is painted with Testors Lacquer Blazing Black and Boyd Red from an airbrush. The air filters are made from 1/4 inch round plastic stock grooved with a razor saw. Turbos are made from solder intake was scratchbuilt. Headers were made from .62 solder and collectors from heat shrink tubing. The radiator is from the AMT viper kit (this is Revell's Viper GTS) wheels are from a Revell IMSA mustang kit. Coilovers were made from Pen springs and K&S tubing. Rear wing is made from two wings - the lower part is the spoiler from a Revell '98 Saleen Speedster and the upper part is from the Revell Acura RSX-S kit. STewart

This is a model I have been working on for a while. It is actually the result of a poorly done model that I did not like and took apart. It has a lot of body work on it. I added a rear diffuser, extended the hood a half an inch, grafted a corvette L88 hood scoop to the hood, turboed the engine, lowered the suspension, and used some wheels and tires from a Revell IMSA Mustang kit. rear diffuser Whole car. body work is done Rear Suspension with scratchbuilt shocks from aluminum tubing and pen springs The engine

4x4 truck post them
stewart replied to jonesmudracing's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Here is mine. A chevy dually 4x4 It has a 2-speed full-floating rear axle from a big-rig, nitrous, a twin-turbo, intercooled Ross Gibson 502 big-block chevy. -
I was looking at the pictures of the new Revell releases of the Bill signs truck and the KW tow truck. So glad they released those. Hope to get the Bill signs truck soon. But it looks like they have a new, better-looking semi truck tire. Is this true or am I just seeing things? STewart

Custom Dakota
stewart replied to stewart's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well, it is all finished. The chassis from the dodge Ram VTS actually required quite a bit of modifying to make it fit the new single cab dakota. rear axle was moved forward and so were the front wheels. The engine is a supercharged 440 with a modern intake and serpentine belt system. Wheels are from the Revell Dodge viper SRT10 kit and sprayed metallic black. STewart -

Truck I am working on from the fast and furious movie. Waiting on some wheels to complete it. It has a completely scratchbuild frame and rear suspension, an engine block from one of the revell pro sportsman kits with a scratchbuild intake and resin muncie four-speed. Headers are from solder. The grille was modified by highway (thanks so much ), I grafted two single cabs to make the quad cab, made a movie-correct roll cage, added racing seats and 5-point harnesses. The nos bottles were "turned" from aluminum rod on my drill and spray-painted transparent blue. The wooden flatbed was made from basswood strips. the two rear axles are from Monogram ford dually kits, the airbags are from plumbing seals, and the four-link suspension is scratchbuilt. The wheels are modified ford dually parts. for the rears I cut out the center axle attachment from a wheel and used the rim from another and created my own center insert. the fronts I modified with a lot of bondo. They are right now with Alan from ma's resin and should hopefully be shipped within the next week but I am not holding my breath. Custom Dakota
stewart replied to stewart's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
It has been a while but I have done some serious work on this. First of all, the body is nearly complete. It was my first time airbrushing a paint job and it turned out ok but for some reason, it attracted a lot of unwanted particles in the paint job. But for my first custom airbrush job, I think it lookes pretty good. I like the colors. the engine is also nearing completion. I decided to use the pulley system from the Revell Saleen speedster to give my Mopar 440 big block a more modern look. I also used the manifold and part of the air filter from that kit as well as the supercharger and my own custom bits. However, I have run into another problem. The wheels are about a quarter inch to small. They don't look quite right. I might have to go with another combo. I will look at what pegasus has and hope theirs are a little larger. STewart -

Resin Centrifugal Superchargers

Are these finished yet? I have a build I am starting that needs two of them. STewart -
I have found that the best and cheapest tires are from Italeri. The cheapest price is from KFS If you go to the special supplies section, they are under the "Miscellaneous Products" yellow heading. You can get a bag of 12 super singles or regulars for about $12.00. However, the company is based out of the UK so you will probably want to make a larger order to make it worth your while. They have very good customer service. Very nice company. STewart

Fast and Furious Trucks
stewart replied to stewart's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Well, after several months of waiting, Alan said he finally has my wheels done. He is going to send them out in the mail this week. Now I can finish those trucks!!!! As soon as they get here, I am going to get on top of finishing the 89 crewcab. Not a whole lot to do on it except put the suspension together, and then the flat bed. Look for more progress soon. Body work is complete!!! I made a cowl induction scoop in the hood. Next, the paint goes on. Going to be a 2-tone lime pearl/metallic black scheme. Decided on an engine too. It is going to have a custom intake similar to the sonoramic long ram intakes on Mopar 383s of old. [] It is a 440 with a modern pulley system and mopar 4-speed.
