  1. A Merry Christmas to all and a very Happy New Year!
  2. Stunning! Great build, who knew station wagons could be so cool?!
  3. Wow!!! You've all been very busy and the work is stunning - quantity certainly didn't effect quality, all of the examples are first-rate in my book. As for me, well,....I did complete one. (New job, wife had major surgery,...) My contribution to this thread:
  4. Great topic, great models, everybody! My contributions, (one complete one in the works)
  5. Thanks, Danny, a Google search reveals 3 Carquest stores in Sacramento, I'll check it out tomorrow. Appreciate the heads up.
  6. Hey, ladies and fellas, I just returned from a nearly 2-hour search of various paint retailers all over Sacramento in search of ANYONE carrying Plasti-cote sandable primer. NO LUCK. I checked online and it reported that Pep Boys, Target, Michaels and Sears all carried the product but after visiting each of these, I found that none of them do, (and in two cases, never did.) Anybody know of a retailer carrying Plast-cote? I know there are substitutes, but this has been my 'go-to' product and I'd like to continue with it if at all possible. Thanks. -Mike
  7. Super nice! Details are absolutely perfect, if I hadn't seen this image at a model car site, I would have assumed it to be real. Well done!
  8. How much of the olds did you retain in the conversion? Windshiled/aA-pillars, B-pillars? I ask because I was considering the same type of build, but had reservations about proportions being different between the two kits. Yours looks like it came together well.
  9. Body proportions were so off for this old kit, but back in the day this was all we had and your build illustrates that, despite the flaws, they were still great fun - and with a little work and detail they could still be stunners on the shelf. Thanks for sharing this, well done!
  10. Driving through my neighborhood yesterday I came across this scene. Happy Halloween to all you 'hot-roddin' trick-or-treaters!
  11. Primarily the taillights went from from being the louver type in 66 to the 8 tailight set-up in 67. The grille went from the egg-crate style of 66 to the diagonal grid pattern of 67, beyond that optional rally wheels were offered in 67 but aside from some manufacturer options not much else as far as I can see.
  12. And now here's the official word from Ralph Henderson, Sacramento Valley Vintage Auto Modeler's Club: "Hi Folks!! Just a quick note to let you all know, we will not be having a Model Show/Swap Meet at St Lawrence Church this year. Due too some medical and other personal issues, I just haven't been up to it. I hope to reschedule something for late spring, And I hope that when we do reschedule you all will continue to support us.. I am sorry for the late notice. The year just disappeared on me. Looked at the calender and it was September all ready. Thank You all for your continued support, and if anyone knows of someone to pass this info on too, please feel free to.. And if any one have any questions, or would like me to pass info on for other shows, etc, please feel free to contact me!!! Thank You All!!!" 13. I seem to recall seeing that '60 Poncho up at Sacramento Raceway a few years back. I talked to the owner and he stated that it was a former Beswick car and showed me where Arnie autographed the front fender.
  14. Looks great and nice pic's to boot. Well done, my friend.
  15. Well done, young 'Grasshopper', you have learned that opportunity and tragedy often arrive in the same moment.....
  16. Nicely done. Great execution of a unique kit, thanks for sharing.
  17. Ran into Roy Sorenson at the Goodguys West Coast Nationals show today and he informs me that the Sacramento NNL show will not be held this year, as St. Lawrence Church, (the host site), is undergoing renovation of its parish hall. Sounds like it's back on for next year though.
  18. It can honestly be anything. I've been inspired by a bowl of brightly colored jelly beans.
  19. Love your work, this one is now my favorite of all the builds I've seen of yours, thus far!
  20. Wasn't able to find a sub-forum for full-size car shows, so will share this here. http://photobucket.com/napacars Great show in a great city. An excellent community event that brought folks out from far and wide. Enjoy!
  21. My '55 Chev 210 - 1:1 photo is before whitewalls were added, model was built post-blackwall period.
  22. Drew, while I'm not much into circle track cars, I have been a fan of your builds and magazine articles. The innovative building techniques you've shared have really been helpful to me over the years. Keep up the good work!!
  23. Wow, I'm shocked! Either I missed it or no one's responded that they built multiple AMT '57 Chevys. Can't recall how many of those I've built over the years, but that's been my 'go-to' kit.
  24. Ahem,...allow me to submit to the court of public opinion exhibits A and B. Exhibit A is shiny, yes, but I think the owner of this one must have lost a very costly bet. Like some might wager, "I'll shave my head if I'm wrong!" or, "I'll tattoo my mother-in-law's name on my backside if ...!",...I think that's what happened here. I know taste and money don't always go hand-in-hand, but this suggests something beyond that, I suspect this took an incredible amount of pride-swallowing, (and money), but having publicly challenged someone else and having subsequently lost face, decided this was the only honorable way out of the situation. For that I applaud him. It's hard to find a man with this much honor and respect for the game. Exhibit B. Exhibit B is not shiny, but if given the choice, I contend that 99 percent of us would happily park it in our garage over that which is depicted in Exhibit A. This is one time you don't want to be a one-percenter. The defense rests. Exhibit A: Exhibit B:
