  1. Very nice!!! Love the restraint shown when choosing colors, subtle yet striking. Thanks fro sharing.
  2. Dark or light background, the result is the same: Awesome build. Thanks for sharing!
  3. What a great idea!! Looking forward to your 'take' on this model subject.
  4. Best I could do in a few minutes. I slid the bumper back closer to the body prior to splitting it. I used the lower part of the front of the hood, (the part with open vents) to create a front valance to go behind the bumper - would require a second hood. Anyhow, hope it helps.
  5. Your work looks great. I can't wait for someone to come up with an improvement for the flat, 'snow-plow' front end of the '64s.
  6. Looking good!! Love the rounded corners on the hood as well as the wheel/tire combination and overall stance. Keep up the great work!!
  7. Interesting. Looks like it might have been dredged up from a lakebed.
  8. Beautiful work on a great subject.
  9. I refuse to commit to print what I spend on one finished model, as doing so might get back to my wife, who while supportive of my hobby, might not be so supportive if she saw an actual dollar figure associated with it. By the way, Bill, I saw the write-up on your '37 in that 'other' mag awhile back and can say that it was worth every penny of that $250!!
  10. Check your local hardware store, looks like the same stuff used for faucet/drain repair.
  11. Loved the movie, love your replica. As a side note, I remember when 'GoodGuys Gazette' published an article on the early production of that film and invited readers to participate by providing a link to the DeuceofSpades website to donate to the cause. For a minimum contribution you received an autographed copy of the DVD, (which I have), for larger donations you were included in the film credits! I applaud Faith's novel and ingenious approach to funding the film and have even more respect for her ability to accomplish a goal for which she previously had little/no experience in, only a passion for the subject. Might be lesson in there for all of us.
  12. Great feature article on this car in Collectible Automobile, Volume 8 Number 1.
  13. Stunning!! My hat's off to you sir. Nice work.
  14. Anybody remember the 'Hot Wheels, Python'? It was based on the Cushenberry car as well. http://onlineredlineguide.com/OtherRedlines_Python.html
  15. Just picked up 'City of Speed, Los Angeles and the Rise of American Racing' by Joe Scalzo and so far, it's a fantastic read! Covers the LA legends of the board tracks and Indy, speed pioneers at Bonneville, road racers and early dirt track heroes as well as many of the great engineering minds behind them. The book is loaded with great quotes and anecdotal, first-person accounts of those times. The writing style is very different, but makes for an even more compelling read. I highly recommend this one for anyone interested in early racing/speed history. Best $40 bucks I've spent in a while.
  16. It goes without saying that I am eternally grateful for the sacrifice of life made by our war dead, who died to preserve our continued freedom and to the families who mourn their loss, but I also give thanks everyday for the sacrifices made by veterans still living and those currently serving, who left family and friends behind while serving our country with no guarantee that they'd ever return. My thanks to to their families for raising, encouraging and supporting these fine human beings.
  17. Love the rich tradition of the 500. It's hard not to daydream while watching this race, imagining the likes of Ruttman, Rose, Vuky, and others from back in the day cruising this same stretch of asphalt and brick. As for NASCAR, lost interest when the cars were no longer built using assembly-line sheet metal. These cars they race now, don't even remotely resemble the factory cars they purport to be. One man's opinion.
  18. Gorgeous!!! I have tremendous respect for you guys who 're-purpose' these old build-ups,.....and do it so well!!
  19. Great build, especially love the added attention to everything under the hood!! Well done.
  20. Found a couple at 'Kitchen Table Resin': http://public.fotki....9pg2.html#media $18 bucks for what looks to be very accurate representations.
  21. Revell tires indeed, from the '49 Merc kit. Which tires did you go with, as they look perfect.
  22. Waaaay cool!!! I'm working on the ragtop version as we speak, a replica of the car my dad had when I was kid. With any luck, mine might be able to share the same 'parking lot' as yours when completed.
  23. Awesome!!!! However, I saw this one a while back and it remains the ultimate build for me, check it out:
  24. "I'm very excited with how this car is coming together so far! Can't wait to start plumbing! One thing that I want to do, but I don't know how...make the "wire loom" that runs along the top of the pass. side valve cover and along the fuel rail." I saw an article, not sure which mag, but it described a method where you created a wire coil by wrapping fine gauge wire around something the diameter of the loom you're trying to create. Once you've created the coil to the length desired, coat it with micro crystal clear so that it fills the voids in the coil. (Probably have to hang it vertically while applying and drying). Once dry, paint part the desired color and install. Also, just found this method, (similar, but uses teflon tape as the cover material.) http://italianhorses.net/Tutorials/FlexHose/flexhose.htm
  25. RIP, Mr. Shelby. You'll be missed, but not forgotten.
