  1. Honestly, I don't care. This for me is a hobby first and foremost. Beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder, which is why I prefer the NNL format. I'll quit attending contests/shows when I see modelers with sponsorships. Otherwise, all's fair in love and modeling!
  2. Awesome!! Keep up the good work, I'm enjoying watching this progress along.
  3. Some items purchased this past Saturday at NNL West: 1/16 AMT '57 Chevy Nomad, AMT 51 Chevy Fleetline, Herb Deeks items; (2) Quickchange rearends, wire wheel kit, steering wheel, set of finned brake drums.
  4. Likin' it so far,........'Man'.
  5. So I've heard, but I'm afraid not. Have to catch you at next year's NNL.
  6. Nice shots!!
  7. Cranky, my take was that attendance was up, certainly more models on display than recent years, however, number of vendors seemed significantly down this year. I heard that the Hobby Depot in Santa Rosa was holding an event which may have kept some from that area away. 'Bruce' the big Deuce guy was conspicuously absent and I know he resides in the SR area. Was a great show, though. Sorry you couldn't be there, maybe next year!
  8. Great images of a great show!! Thanks for sharing.
  9. Yes. If I remember correctly, this has the chrome trim molded on the sail panels, (C-pillars) and A-pillars. This too will need to be eliminated if you're doing a version sans vinyl top.
  10. I'd like to see an example if you have one to post. Sounds like an interesting solution to a problem I've been vexed by for years.
  11. Couldn't have said it better. Putting on any event, let alone something as big as this, is challenging to say the least. the details are endless, lining up sponsors, selling and tracking vendors, oh and there's that whole 'venue' issue to work out. These guys do it so well you'd think it was effortless. Thanks to our hosts as well as the attendees that make the show what it is.
  12. Not sure if this is the place or not, but just got home from the NNL West event and it was as awesome as advertised. Anyhow, here's a link to my photo album from today's show, should anyone care to see some of the great builds that made the show. http://s1132.photobu...2%20NNL%20West/
  13. Gorgeous! Nice take on an old classic, well done!
  14. Don't let Hollywood see this, "Squirrelmageddon" in 3-D! Don't laugh, it could happen....
  15. His diorama work is beyond words, however, I seem to recall him being quoted as saying the cars/trucks were diecasts. The article states that he built them. No matter, the dio work and photography are clearly his passion and it shows.
  16. Thanks for the kind words guys. Doc' look forward to seeing your build, but remember, fiberglass can't rust.
  17. You know what 'they' say: "You don't get what you don't ask for."
  18. Hey fellas, I started this as a 'workbench' work in progress, however, time got by me and I wasn't able to take progress shots, but here's the finished product, hope you like it.
  19. Was this kit the basis for the Roger Penske Race team kit from the '70s? (Had a mid-70s AMC Matador included).
  20. I use 'Crafter's Pick - Ultimate' for glass and chrome. It's slightly thicker than Elmer's Glue, drys clear and forms a really solid bond. Crafter's Pick has adhesives for other applications as well, check 'em out: http://www.crafterspick.com/
  21. "When we return, 'When Military Vehicles Attack!'"
  22. I've seen your builds, Ed and all your time and research is what makes them so great. You're forgiven for YOUR 'spells' of inactivity. ( I am looking forward to seeing it when finished, though.)
  23. Looking good, Scott! Man, I can't believe the damage, but looks like you're just the guy to get this one done and looking beautiful!
  24. Rich, I was where you're at and realized that my 'doldrum' was being caused by the plethora of unfinished builds I was surrounded by in my shop. It was actually depressing me to go out there. My solution was to grab a kit, any kit, (in this case a Revell '67 Vette), I took it into the den of my home where I keep my finished builds. Anyhow, I started the kit there, and found that my interest didn't wane. Once I had made significant progress on it, I took everything back out to the shop to complete it. It's been 3-1/2 weeks and it should be done by this Friday. Not only that, but I'm now excited about starting the next project,...and I don't even know what it will be yet. Stay tuned.
  25. Fantastic!! Nice mod's too!! Like you, I'm 'cramming' to get one more done before Saturday, a '67 Vette. Anyhow, love your latest creation, see ya in Santa Clara!!
