I ran across this thread a couple of weeks ago and was so disappointed that I could not participate. However, my camera and knowledge of the workings of photobucket, (DUH-I been lerned) and we have the operator error fixed. So, here goes; First shots are the gutted 12ft single wide mobile home that I picked up for free. Was using it for storage and planning on remodeling it into a full blown, stand alone, hobby room. Unfortunately it continued to fall apart as my budget continued to fall short. You can see that my 5.0 block shares the space.

Clay, you rock! I knew there was something I was missing. Did an edit and got it fixed! Thanks again for the help. Barry

Have had/been working on this dual drive forever as far as I can recall. When the "TOP THE COP" model contest came to be, I got a new drive for the hobby and started getting everything out of mothballs. Got to looking at this one...............geez what a wreck. Its whole plan is to be teamed up with the "north American" van lines trailer. I will keep it the same with the frame stretch and the drom, just have major repairs to correct. Wish me luck. Barry

I had this big long write up and lost it all. Let's try this again. Hey all, for those of you that read my post about the model car contest for some students at a school I cover as the School Resource Officer, we will be judging soon. Update is as follows; Dec. 3rd is final turn in. 10 entries are expected. (Helping redirect one is worth it) Local car dealer donated $250 for scholarships and we purchased kits, tools, and paints for 4 students. I will be entering AMT's 56 Ford Victoria as a tribute to the 1:1 that my brother had and we used to work on together. He passed in '94 from a brain tumor. We are going with just a general theme on the first contest just for the ease of yours truly with the logistics of it all. It will be "Classics" 1975 and older. Can't wait to see what the kids come up with. The 56 will be box stock and old school slicks as if Jr snuck it out for a quick run at the track. "Daddy's" hubcaps will be removed. "Hope dad doesn't find out." Enjoy. Barry

Everytime I go to connect photobucket with a post, I lose it all! What am I doing wrong? I just noticed the little icons above as I am making this post. Do I use the insert link option? Will that be the easiest? Barry Never mind. I got it all figured out with that attach a link icon up there. Barry

Question about an engine part
txdieseldog replied to Railfreak78's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Brian, I am currently building the same kit because my brother that passed away in '94 had a 1:1 that he and I worked on together and I am building a tribute. I wasn't really sure on distributor and coil myself because I was the little brother that held the light. I did some google and found an engine shot. Not the best view of everything but decent shot. Have fun with it. Barry -
Matt, throw me down for a second unit please. Gonna add a Ford Louisville with box on chassis. Thanks Barry

Matt, still time to get in on this build? Being that it's still Nov 2010 and all. If so, put me down for Chevy Titan 90 and a set of 27 ft pups. Barry

Need your help

Thanks Kevin. -
Hey crew, It has been years since I have had anything to do with a model contest. A bunch of you have read about the "Top The Cop" contest. Well, it is in full swing and we have 7 students confirmed. Unfortunately, we are not starting with trucks. Went with "Classic Cars" (1975 and older). More available and a little less expensive until I can get more sponsorship. This is where I need you guys help.....I need to know some good categories for the judging. Such as "Fit and finish", "Best paint", etc. etc. My mind is drawing a blank or the old age cob webs have crept in. But either way, need your help!!!! Any and all inputs would be greatly appreciated. Judging starts Dec. 3rd. I need to create the score sheet in time. Thanks guys/gals. (I know theres a few gals out there) Barry

Need help

Thanks all. I knew I could count on you guys for quick and clear response. Now for the hard part.....gotta get after it. Barry -
Hey all you tipster guru's out there. When I was active duty in the Air Force, I had to put a bunch of my kits in storage while I went to Japan. Several of them were WIP so they got tossed in a ziplock and then sealed in a box. I am finally getting set up to start building again thanks to my upcoming "Top The Cop" contest. However, searching through some of the kits has shown windshields, that due to either TX heat or poor packing and storage on my behalf, have stuck to tires and painted pcs. and the like, leaving them with little dents and lines right through the middle. Any good tips to remove the screw up and replenish the clarity? Thanks in advance. Barry

Resin kits
txdieseldog replied to txdieseldog's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks Jim. I can go with that option as well for the set up I am looking for. They have some of the Fords but they are the older trucks in their fleet. Barry -
Does anyone know of a resin buider producing a Sterling conversion? Our TX Dept. of Corrections uses them as a three truck convoy and I figured it would be a cool build. Thanks Barry

Does anyone out there have a scrap Peterbilt hood or grill? I have an old AMT COE that I am trying to build a day cab from. It was a serious glue bomb and the Peterbilt emblem just under the windshield has been scraped off. PM me if you can help and thanks in advance. Barry

I had this topic in Trucks but another member recommended I place it here in General as well. If you want to see the earlier replies, feel free to check them out. Thanks in advance for any comments. I am new here and have posted one other time. I need to give some background so you guys know where this will be coming from. I am a Police Officer in the City of Abilene,TX. I am currently assigned as an S.R.O. (School Resource Officer) at our school districts discipline school. I prefer to build the truck models but have dabbled in all types. I have noticed that the crew here in the truck forum is fairly honest and straight forward. I am attaching a proposal that was given to my admin. for a program to hopefully steer some of my students in the right direction of life. All inputs appreciated. Thanks Barry

Gary, Thanks for your comments and ideas on the other repiy!!! Plus, I would love to just copy this over to the general forum and I thought I saw that done from another member. However, I am at a loss. Any tips? Is there a way to just connect the two? Barry -

Update number 2: The Woodson campus where we are piloting this program has approx. 88 students trying to get their credits back up to place them where they should be. Went to the campus with 25 copies of an application and the hopes of at least as many interested students. Turns out that I had to get extra copies and gave out approx. 40 apps. We are looking good so far. Almost half of the student body. Have a few young ladies that are gonna try and out do what I build but have the guys applying for the most part. Applications will trickle in next week and off we go!!!!! Got my work cut out for me. Barry
